I had one of these and my friend a Yamaha 350LC YPVS. The performance of the 500 and the YPVS was essentially the same but I always felt safer on the 500. Much better on fuel too.
Its a modern day 4 stroke yamaha RD250LC. Its what it was compared to when it was released by journalists. Ive the Gpz1100E version as well. The 500 is more fun and i ride it quicker. The designers took the time to get as much power from the engine and make it tractable. If you fit different exhausts you will, youll find it wont run as well but itll still run ok. Back pressure is critical on these and no amount of carburetor fiddling with help.
Thanks for sharing the info much appreciated, I to believe these are awesome little bikes and are so under rated and cheap to buy at the moment. Hope you liked the video series!
I've had mine 9 yrs now and it still puts smile on my face.
Deffinatley , such a nice solid start up and go, with a solid engine if maintained
This channel is awesome. Love seeing all these builds and awesome bikes being saved and back on the road!
Thanks Mike! Highly appreciated, it’s a passion 😊

Great bikes, just bought one myself to tidy up and keep going. My first project bike.
Awesome , they are really nice to work on.
Cool ride!
Thanks Shaun, much appreciated
Great vid, but while your on the road the camera should be showing us a bit more of the ride and not just the dash board 👍
