Thanks.
I've an old all metal 3.00mm J-Head (e3d clone, I think) from 2015 in my old reprap mendel 3d printer. I had to install a new Marlin instead of Repetier and now I've bad temperature values at high temperatures. I set the number 8 as you and it work great with PLA at max 210°C. If I manually set the temperature from display, more than 210°C the temperature constantly random fluctuate. exaple: Set 230°C it show 216°,256, 225°, 262°, 240°, etc...
Sometimes the printer stop working with E1 error and the Marlin "alert" temperature is setted to 275°C and is never reached to my random readings.
I've to set the PID? I noticed there is a J-Head thermistor, n°5. I'll try with this change but it look same 100k + 4,7 Kohm resistor...
I check my sensor and move a little, I fix it, I add conductive paste, I check cables. The problem remain.
My printer works fine with old repetier firmware. I had to add the hotend fan because before I had only a settable fan that I use to cool the hotend. Marlin use it to cool the print and it start the print with fan off. The printer stop working after a while with E1 error.
The big problem is I don't know wich thermocouple I use! Was provided with j-Head...
I think I've solved! I set n°5 j-head thermistor and set at 300°C the maximum temp for extruder 0 instead of 275°.
Now I printing at 248°C whitout erratic temperature reading! If the printer don't catch fire, I think my problem is solved!!
Maybe the Carbrige connection also have a problem becoz there is a negative and positive connection?
Still not work I change thermistor, Extruder connection on E0 i did that but my LCD temp is change into 185 from 210 do you know what is wrong ? error E1 Heating Failed Printer Halted
The thermistor can be checked without hotend by plugging in only thermistor and connecting to board without PSU power. You use only the power from 5v in USB cable connect via Pronterface and use heat from ones hand on thermistor to check if operating correctly.
I've same issue but from Higher temperatures than 215/220. I Modify from display too because I sliced for pla 210°. When I set Higher than 215° The display show randoms temperatures. And sometimes I've E1 error
I think I've solved! I set n°5 j-head thermistor and set at 300°C the maximum temp for extruder 0 instead of 275°.

I Think E1 error should never appear now. Marling should have somewhere the 20°C of difference / tolerance to stop the machine with E1 error.
So, My problem was wrong thermistor setting, also if they look the same in the list, I think there is a particular tune for each.
Printing about 200 degree Celsius isn't recommended if you're using PLA, which filament are you using?
thank you soo much
You're welcome.
I have NTC 3950 thermostat and board Ramps arduino what is good thermal setting TEMP_SENSOR
8
I main What I choose TEMPERATURE SENSOR if I have NTC 3950 Thermostat
It might involve creating a temperature profile. I've never configured a profile level thermistor, you'd need datasheet and the Marlin directory where it may reside.
Hi Edward, I got this E3d V6 hotend. I plug it in to T0 pin, after doing marlin setup it measures the temperature as -26C (actually it is 28C now). After that, I try to plug my heatbed's thermistor to T0, it perfectly measures the temperature as 28C.
I also try different thermistor settings on Marlin (No:11, No:5 etc) but the result is same=incorrect temperature. When No:11 is selected, on LCD hotend's temperature is shown as 955C :)
Any suggestion? Thanks beforehand.
Check continuity with multimeter meter for thermistors and if they work, then it might be a board level issue. You can also try another thermistor port and if it works, modify yours boards pins file.
By “another thermistor port” you mean T1 or T2, right? I’ve already tried T1 but result is same. Will check for T2 now. Any tutorial about boards pins file?
Maybe on how to add a third extruder. All you're doing is changing the pin numbers in the file for the signal pins on the thermistors.
@@EdwardBraiman Unfortunately, it now reads 0 C. Sometimes it fluctuates between -14C and 900C. I think I should replace the hotend's thermistor with a new one.
If a multimeter reads continuity, then it's not the thermistor.
We select the thermistor which we bought in marlin firmware but after following instructions from the above video it's showing negative reading... How to troubleshoot
Sounds like it's not connected. Test the thermistor with a multimeter. If the thermistor shows continuity on the multimeter, then it's a board level connection issue.
i keep getting error E1. heating failed. Bought pack of thermoresistors, changed in Configuration.h for 11 (ntc 1% )still same error. For some reason in room temperature on LCD says -26 degress, adding some heat on thermoresistor with heatgun, value changes, but after stopping it goes to -26. Heating element doesnt even tried to get warm, D10 led doesnt turn on. Not sure what is bad Board or heating element or using 750WPSU. Anyone knows what cause this
It means connection to board is not
correct. Either thermistor or board connection is not connected.
Very good video. Unfortunately, config.h cannot be downloaded.
And I don't understand English either. I have no chance to learn this language.
Google translate will help.
Also thundrath in my Discord chat might be able to help.
Extruder can start extrud when temperature is already done with it's set up.
That's great.
I ask you a Question How you fix My Temperature is Heat Failed Halted error I set temp. to pronterface 210 but he got only 140 then shutdown error message heat faild
This error is generally related to a broken thermistor or loose connection. Given it fails at 140 degrees, my guess from a distance is thermistor needs to be replaced.
@@EdwardBraiman Even I replace my thermistor still E1 heating failed halted error.
I using Marlin Firmware also my extruder during I test on LCD not work I connect to E1 or E0?
And this is the message to my pronterface - Error:Heating failed, system stopped! Heater_ID: 0
[ERROR] Error:Heating failed, system stopped! Heater_ID: 0
Error:Printer halted. kill() called!
[ERROR] Error:Printer halted. kill() called!
In my channel description there's a link to Discord chat, post your configuration.h and configuration_adv.h in general chat.
@@EdwardBraiman what you main on configuration.h and configuration.adv.h?
I ask you a question During I printing cube xyz calibration my Z axis is Far on bed that I level , I used all calibration but still not work
This can occur in one of three places, mechanical, firmware or gcode file. If you're able to home in Pronterface to surface, then likely place where error is occurring is in Gcode file
@@EdwardBraiman even I use correct Gcode is not working
@@EdwardBraiman all tutorial to get perfect homing in G code level use Gcode still not correct
If you type in Pronterface the gcode M28 what occurs on printer?
Sending nothing happened
Why did you put the value 8 on the temperature sensor?
It's matches the thermistor I used. Also it's most common.
@@EdwardBraiman, ok thank you
@@EdwardBraiman, I have a problem when it finishes compiling it gives me 2 errors
"Heater_1_pin not defined for this board"
And the other " temp_sensor_1 is required with 2 or more hotends"
Do you have a solution for this problem cause I'm sure my wiring is good
Depends. The video was recorded about 3-4 years ago and I'm guessing the version of Marlin firmware was around 1.6. Marlin has changed a great deal so I'd need to ask which version of Marlin are you using?
@@EdwardBraiman, marlin 1.8.15
I try to something this ! Maybe It works.
driver in E0,
hot end in D10
temp probe into T0
Driver in E1
Hot end in D9
temp probe in T2
You can examine the pins file to locate exactly where the thermistor pins are located on the board in Marlin firmware.
@@EdwardBraiman I also one question the carbrige have a negative and positive connection how to you know it the right connection on D10 ramp 1.4?
Power for thermistor and heating elements do not need polarity.
I got it 1 is perfect right?
My ramps board is connected with pronterface but nothing is working
my hotend is not heating my motors are not moving, what can i do
What do you see in Pronterface after connected?
@@EdwardBraiman i am facing some confusing problems in setting up the printer firmware can you please stick around and help me
@@EdwardBraiman are you available on instagram
@@EdwardBraiman actually i am starting a startup of manufacturing 3d printers so the prototype model is very important to work in front of investors that's why i need your help. Will you help
When Pronterface starts after you press connect, what texted displays? Please cut and paste within comments. Unfortunately I can read your computer screen with the text in the issue.
Sir how to find out which thermistor to use?
Find one in the list you like. I prefer the cheapest one. Remember it's only a piece of glass on a wire.
sir, i need this marlin file how can i get it ?
marlinfw.org , is the website.
Sir Mintemp error is coming .. What to do now
Check you thermistor wiring to see if it's connected and check continuity of thermistor wires.
There is TEMP_SENSOR 0 1
TEMP_SENSOR 0
TEMP_SENSOR 0
soon
so what exactly right
You'd replace 0 with number of sensor listed above. Unfortunately I'll need to look at configuration.h after work today to know better.
I try for tomorrow if ok
PLease! Please! can you help me sir?
