    Because of weird advanced class placement, I never got to learn some of these plots and graphs. This video was very helpful and allowed me to learn it in 3 minutes. Thanks.

    box and whiskers don't have to cover every data point. They sometimes ignore extreme outliers so you can't get the range by just looking at the whiskers.

    • @topsui
      @topsui 10 років тому +3

      msid9999 How old are you? Im just curious. Because you use algebra for other branches of math when you get older so it does get harder. For example, calculus.

      topsui 14 in high school, I skipped a grade

    • @topsui
      @topsui 10 років тому +3

      msid9999 Okay. I'm 18 and at uni doing mechanical engineering so from my point of view, I can see what I use algebra for. For you its actually really basic math that will expand. So hang in there, if you do want to do something in the future with math, like engineering or something else, you'll soon understand why you use it for and why its important to what your studying.

    WRONG!!!! STUDENTS GO ELSEWHERE!!!! This is egregious!!!! A quarter is not the same thing as a quartile. The first quartile is EXACTLY the 25th percentile (NOT an interval), which is the lower hinge (14 in video). The second quartile is EXACTLY the 50th percentile aka median (21 in the video). The 3rd quartile is EXACTLY the 75th percentile, which is the upper hinge (33 in the video). THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS "THE 4th QUARTILE!!!! The intervals shown in this video are to be called QUARTERS, and quarters ONLY. The "end of the left whisker" is called the LOWER ADJACENT (do not refer to them as ends of the whiskers). The "end of the right whisker" is called the UPPER ADJACENT.
