Your explorations make me a tad nervous! Yet, I get a geology lesson each time you take us along. We got to walk near and observe the newly formed lava flows of Kilauea (still hot and steamy!) back in Oct. ‘82. Pretty much the most amazing part of our trip and why I am fascinated to this day.
Amazing textures and zi loved the bit where you showed Pele's hair the whole mound looked as though she had dropped her knitting yarn on the ground whivh had coiled into shapes. It is lovely to see the pockets of green on an otherwise barren landscape.
I love this extended version, Scott. One of your best of the Mauna Ulu flow IMO. I especially liked showing the older weathered a'a lava flow versus the newer one-much more vegetation on the old stuff. I was going to ask if you noticed any sparklies or colors on the underside of the lava like at your lava lot. It's probably too old I guess. I noticed it once at about 18:48 on the blue chunk. This area is a lava explorer's dream...I suppose you do dream about it. Let's go again with shoes so you don't lose a slippah down a hole! 😁 Mahalo
Yea, exploration with Scott! 💖Angry 'A'a - it does look sharp. To me, the Pahoehoe has a silky swirly sort of feminine vibe, the 'A'a has that rough and tumble masculine vibe, like a hungry bulldozer. 5:21 and 8:32 would make great still shots 📸. It's wonderful to see the Ohia persevering, with those pretty red Lehua flowers. They always look beautiful against the gray of the lava. It truly is a spectacular view. Yikes the hole . The cracks next to it look a bit like a spider web. Mauna Ulu is incredible, from what we've seen through your eyes it seems to have the most extraordinary shapes and colors to be discovered. Flip flops of course, lava walking Scott style 😊❣ Pele's glistening hair amidst her flowing lava robes. The cracks are scary looking (and interesting). Ohia and ferns seem to really like them. 17:36 the curve in the lava seems to lead into the curve of the road far below, that's cool. Your "...who who who - ooh" (18:53) was cute funny 😄😍 but then oh-no scary 😯 when you said you felt the ground move! Guardian angel alert! Always some thrills and chills. So true, it's artwork as you said. That was a beautiful void/tube with the ferns and ohia inside, love the smooth shiny edges. Oops, the lava grabbed your shoe, naughty lava 🤭I'm happy for you that it didn't nip your toes, ouchie. It must have been a treat for you and Chili Monster to go investigate somewhere you've never been, and I'm glad you shared it with us 🤩! Thank you Scott ❤
Wow! That is an amazing area with so many different shapes and textures of lava flows. Endlessly fascinating! Some of those cracks looked really deep. Somewhat scary too. Your Chili Monster is a good looking truck.
And I thought I was the only one wandering lava fields to find interesting formations! 🤔 On the uphill side from where you parked (about a hundred yards) are two interesting spots. One is a good sized collapsed lava tube and a large crack in the side of a lava flow. Pretty wild!

Loving lava layers!
How nature can make some of those shapes is incredible, thanks so much for showing us, amazing !!👍
So fascinating.
Thank you Scott 👍👍👍👍

I hardly see any sparklies out there. There are other Mauna Ulu flows with lots of sparklies...interesting.
Cracks, shapes, voids, lava tubs,Ohia trees… life doesn’t get much better than that 😁
So many shapes and structures,be careful you don’t fall into the voids
Holy crap! So cool but scary too! Those voids and cracks looked really, really deep.
Truly amazing!
16:46 Looked really cool 😄

I love your descriptions and commentary, Kellie.🤩 I wish I had an audio 🔉of it!
@@carlac8135 Oh wow Carla, thank you so much! 😊👋🥰
Hiking in flip flops with Scott.

Yup, went up there for the first time after making this video.
2nd time I watched so interesting!
Sandals? I seem to remember a video of a guy who stepped on a lava flow and broke through and got cut up pretty bad on the sharp edges of the hole.
I know of a guy too!

Thanks for today’s adventure. So many weird shapes of lava. Sure did cover a lot of land.
