Lucky enough to have played with Abe in a band situation for 3 weeks when he was in his early 20s. Simply unbelievable player and human.🙏🏽🥁
Abe nobody grooves like you! You are theeee pocket drummer! Wow!
I try to watch this every week at least once...just to reaffirm that families that play music together are awesome, music is the best therapy, and joy is only 17 minutes away.
THE ONLY thing better than one Laboriel is two. How cool is it to watch the Dad and the Son jam it out like this. I got hooked on Abe in 1977 with Lee Ritenour' band and then Friendship Group. Long live The Golden Bear.
Abe is a natural feel drummer..great rhythm and taste...his tour with sting was special *
Watching and listening to this groove totally made me forget about Coronavirus for 17 minutes. Thanks for sharing :)
How great must it be for the legendary bassist Abraham Laboriel to play with his son, a great drummer in his own right !
That’s so cool! I didn’t realize that was his dad playing the bass.
Baião on 10:24!!! Nice! We Brazilian are very proud about it!
That's gotta be a proud daddy having your son playing drums so good behind you :)
That's the drummer for Paul McCartney.
@@vernonsteinkamp1088 yeah he's the son of the bass player too
What's the name of the bassist?
@@alexesther787 Abe Laboriel Sr
The best 17 minutes of my life so far this week.
amen man. amen. we need more of this :)
Sí señor!
Drums sound great snare drum has that plunky sound we all love.
Abe Laboriel jr. & Sr.... Michael Landau what an amazing line up.
Seeing them live is truly a religious experience for me and I am not religious :)
Amen to that
abe's pocket just bounces so lively. such a powerhouse.
Which? You mean both right? 😉
More videos like this please
Man, that snare drum has the perfect resonance and ring!
Abe's happiness behind a kit brings me happiness
its like noone knows what to do but everyone does everything exactly right. amazing talent!
I am bassist/drumer and love the family laboriel and Mathieson too but Landau is like a GOD
Great to see Father and Son jamming together!
My biodad who I found just 10 years ago was a drummer, I'm a bass player, he passed away before we got a chance to play music together, so happy for Sr. and Jr. in this video to do this!
Wow. Paul really knows how to choose a drummer.
I have to say this is the first I've heard Abraham Laboriel Jr. play, and man the guy is a street fighter of a player he just punches hard his own way. What a refreshing drummer.
That's his dad on bass, and Abe Jr. is Paul McCartney's drummer...but this is his comfort zone style here and nothing better IMO.
@@stratocat222 thanks for information.i knew the father from hiromi and didn't knew the drummer was the son
I like his playing style, not a whole lot of chops all over the place with no feelings. With some drummers, it's like, excuse me, where are you going with all those licks? How come I can't hear the rest of the other instruments?
There was a time when drummers actually supported the music, but now, it's like they are the music, as an old school drummer since. 1963, even now at 71 I still play although things are a tad bit slower , nothing can beat some real good solid drumming.
The Guys a beast! Always stays below the radar then unleashes, Mcartney keeps him busy! It's great to see him with these other top notch Musicians
Love how raw and loose but tight it all sounds. So good.
Abe...your Dad was an amazing man and a badd bassist . I talked to him several times when he would come to Pittsburgh at the Pitt Jazz Seminar for his friend Dr. Davis. Thanks for posting
Not to nitpick sir but is he not still an "amazing man and badd bassist"?
Met Sr in Ca few years back! Super down to earth kinda guy! He's One of the most widely used session Basses of our time! His resume speaks for it's self , Passed on those good genes onto Jr
I remember when I saw Abe playing, when he was with Al Jarreau back in 1977. He was outstanding back then and watching him play on this video with his Son ..... all I can say is 💥
I love the show, from Portugal, im 67 old. Thanks
ありがとうございます!
abe's bassfaces are epic.feels
Well! Damn! So totally relaxed and groovy! The way Jr and Sr play together is the rhythm section equivalent of sibling harmony! Totally fearless playing!
I love great song thanks
This is serious business !
Holly Molly!
One of my favorite drummers! Such an awesome feel.
Abe is grooving unbelievable...truly a master
This is completely amazing father and son. Make an awesome, tight rhythm section.

Holy cow! What an astounding rhythm section! Unreal precision and clarity and complexity and... sheer groove. The Jazz Ministry has moved to the top of my play list. Call me flabbergasted to the max!!!!
Abe is so frickin smooth and tight in his playing!!! What a groove!

Geez that kick drum sounds fantastic!
If all jazz would be like this, then I would convert. Great job. Loved it
Try Nathaniel with Hiromi Huesara
This is not jazz but it came from it
I try to watch this once a week for humility purpose🤤
I LOVE THESE MUSICIANS !
All are amazing players!!!!! So energetic
If you scanned through looking for Abe's solo ..... unashamed
Holy shit, just the groove alone in this tune is amazing. Then on top of THAT you have all the individual talent of this group. These guys can take a beat and push it to about a 100 different directions. TALENT 100% UNLOCKED! I bow to you.
I wondered about the hi hats too. So much joy! Fantastic to watch!
Mathieson is a beast!
All beasts to be fair!
There is a hard rock edge to Abe's playing ... it adds weight to his musicianship ... UNBELIEVABLY GOOD x
Abe is my favorite bass player.
For a moment I feel offended because Abraham Laboriel was not on the title of this video, but it is what it is.
That was awesome!

Absolutely brilliant! What a sick jam! 🤘🤘
I saw Abe Jr. at the Potato with Michael Laundau and Jimmy Johnston on bass. It was soooo fucking loud!!! Just Abe playing in that room was body altering thunder, let alone Jimmy and Mike. Loudest live Jazz I think that club has ever heard. AND it was a live recording for Mike's record. The Laboriels are so legendary.
I believe I had a smile on my face the whole performance. So great 🌟🌟🌟🌟
