Just installed this dishwasher today. I am so happy with how quiet it is! I had no idea about the rack features but your video explained them perfectly!
I just got my KitchenAid dishwasher installed today. I’m so glad I watched your video. I couldn’t figure out how to open the rinse aid cover. Ha ha. Thanks for doing a thorough review. 😃
Consider the extended warranty. Bought mine new, installed professionally too and 1 year later the control panel is dead. Less than 2 months beyond factory warranty.. it is quiet though, especially when it won’t run. lol
Oh man, that is a NICE dishwasher (this is how you know you’re middle aged btw lol). I got a new Samsung last September, which is still working very well, and it’s my first dishwasher with that top third rack. Total game changer-I love that thing. It’s not nearly as silent as yours, but it’s still the quietest one I’ve ever owned, which is pretty awesome.
Mike please check your samsung dishwasher for any recalls. Our samsung dishwasher caught on fire while I was home. I noticed the smoke in the kitchen and flipped off the breaker. I had to open all the windows to let the smoke out. We had a burnt smell in the house for about 3 days.
That's good to hear! Our last dishwasher was builder grade and came with our new house, barely last two years. We put repair money into but then it broke again and it was "cheaper" to buy a new dishwasher. 🙄
Just installed it 3 weeks ago. There's no latch to close the door. So you have to push the dishwasher on the right real hard. The door does not look straight at all. However, in the middle of the cycle the lights started blinking (happened every time). So I have to push the right side door real hard again and push the restart button. That did it. But it's very annoying.
I am getting the same dishwasher in a few weeks. Third rack is a new concept for me but they have made them more more flexible for various user needs. Your video was good and I look forward to the same experience.
Just bought this exact model, I went back and forth between this and the Bosch-we had a Bosch for years and it worked great for 17 maybe 18 years but the new ones seemed a little flimsy? Between that and this models sale we went with the kitchenAid, this model. How do you still like it? Hoping we made the right choice! Oh man lol.
So far I still like it! I have to remember to clean the filter fairly regularly, but you have to do that on most dishwashers. But it's still working great for us. 😊
You add the rinse aid until it fills up, it's okay if it overflows a bit. As for your dishes being wet make sure you hit the wash mode (like Normal) and then Heat Dry before pressing start.
Im considering this DW with top controls. Hows it holding up? Have you cleaned out the mesh screen on the bottom at all in addition to the one you have shown? Thanks Much
Hi there, it's holding up great. We did have a problem with food getting trapped in the line to the disposal, but it was easy to clean out. My kids load the dishwasher and they aren't always the best at removing all the grains of rice, for instance. The mesh screen pops out really easily and rinses off. So far, this dishwasher has blown my last two out of the water. Still highly recommend it.
I see those, but it looks like the newer Kitchenaid dishwashers with "advanced clean water wash system" don't have these twist out filters. Looks like a simple pull out filter. Thoughts? I'm worried the new ones will get clogged more easily since there is no fine mesh...
Very nice I agree with everyone else. This is a nice dishwasher. We pick one up two days ago and we should be able to receive it next Monday. I also noticed that your kitchen cabinets are a darker color. Wouldn’t you think that your dishwasher would have fit better if it was a black or darker color versus stainless steel it would’ve probably blended in and disappeared with your cabinets nicely
My KitchenAide model 404 was installed today. Haven’t used it yet. I’m looking at videos to learn a little about it. I am concerned with putting large pots in the bottom rack. Will they block the spray enough to affect the cleaning in the middle rack. Just a note: With my old KA DW from 2008 I just threw the pods in the bottom. Never used the dispenser
The top rack is adjustable. I put my large pots on the bottom. A cleaning expert on TikTok said not to put the pods in the bottom or silverware. The place it's designed works fine so I just use that.
I used the DW last night. Very satisfied with it. Pots got clean in the bottom rack. Clean dishes throughout. I did use the dispenser. It’s all good Thanks mama🙂
I just ordered this same model and now reading other reviews that complain about the vent leaking. That's a deal breaker for me. Have you heard any more about the resolution of this issue? Why would you HAVE to use a rinse aid?
From what I know pretty much all dishwashers require a rinse aid if you don't want water spots on your dishes. I haven't had a vent leak. My dishwasher is still going strong.
I just got this dishwasher. My husband is very handy and it took him 5 hours to install this unit! There were a lot of steps so I assume is you have a leak, something is not attached correctly. I ran it for the first time and noticed how long the cycle took, as mentioned in other reviews. It is very quiet. I'm still confused as to where to put the detergent. I find the instructions confusing. The main compartment says "Prewash" . I put my powder detergent in that compartment, but then it's not prewash. The directions read (to me) like the main compartment with lid and prewash dispenser are two different things. I see you put the tablets in the prewash compartment so that is what I will do when I get the tablets. But I found the instructions confusing.
I'm sure you have figured it out by now, but you are putting the detergent in the right spot. The prewash designation is just where you can put a little extra detergent on the outside of the main compartment. Will just fall in when you close the door and help clean the dishes during the first cycle.
Thank you for your review of this product. We will be purchasing a new dishwasher soon and this one is at the top of our list. Do you know if you can still use the heated dry option on the Express Wash? That’s an important feature we’re looking for since we usually only use a quick cycle.
Yes, I just double checked you can do express wash and heat dry! I usually set my dishwasher to go right before bed but I've used the express wash when we need an extra load.
This must be dishwasher week 😁. We just installed a dishwasher downstairs in the basement bar and the new Kitchen Studio. We are still looking to replace our dishwasher in the main kitchen. 🍸
Well so far I'm happy with this one. It's so nice having a third rack and I like that it's fairly simple. Some are so specialized that it makes loading them tricky.
I read where someone said that water drips out of the outside vent in the upper left hand corner onto the control panel & onto the floor after a wash cycle. Have you experienced that too?
I purchased this model because it was the quietest and basic but have had this problem ever since we had it installed a month ago. Every time I open the door after the cycle runs even after the extended dry cycle or several hours after. water drips onto the floor. the Kitchen aid rep said it's probably cause I don't have any rinse aid in it. Which I do have. But the entire inside of my dishwasher is dripping wet. service tech coming out to check...
@@elizabethw4349 I've read 4 reviews that complain about the same issue of it leaking onto the floor from the steam vent. Did you get an answer from the tech or get it resolved?
Hi there, thanks so much for the super helpful dishwasher review. We noticed your floor and really like it. Is it hardwood or porcelain tile or ??? And what brand & color please. 😃 Thank you!
Sorry I'm just getting back to you. It's luxury vynal planks, unfortunately this particular color is no longer being manufactured. But there are lots of colors similar to it. I love it because it's very hardy, scratch resistant, & waterproof.
? I just got this model dishwasher and I have 48 hours I ran the cycle three times and three times when I opened the dishwasher the door was soaking wet! It's doing great! So far it's the best dishwasher I've had since being a homeowner and I've lost count of how many I've gone through. My husband will say too many! Lol.
I didn't that, I wonder why? I've never heard that before and I've been sticking them in the dishwasher my entire life. I'm assuming it is aluminum. I think my smaller ones are stainless steel but my big one is probably aluminum
A “real world” review is sometimes the best. Thanks for taking the time.
Thank you. 💙

Great video. Is there a 3rd spin arm above the 3rd rack?
Yes there is! Sorry I just now saw this comment. ❤️
Can you fit 11-inch plates in the bottom rack without blocking the spray arm? Thank you.
Yes. The top rack also can adjust up and down. There is plenty of room for 11" plates.

Is the top 3rd rack easy to remove? If I want to wash something big on the 2nd rack
I don't think so, but the 2nd rack is adjustable height
Do you know what the number was ?dbl for expected noise level? I want a silent dishwasher but I am not sure what the number should be to get that.
Sorry, I don't remember the dbl. It is extremely quiet. We often forget it's running and open it mid cycle, because it's so quiet!

when you start the dishwasher do you press start and then choose the cycles and options and then press start again?

Nice review, just bought the same. How do you know when it's done, does it make a noise?
There's a little light that will turn green. I think it makes a beep too. We usually run it just before going to bed so I can't remember for sure!
