- I got this mix from a friend late in 1994. I was told it was a live recording Of DJ Keoki from the Limelight in July of 1994. I'm surprised this tape still plays after how much I listened to it. This tape was my intro to Salt Tank also.

Amazing. Limelight was so much fun back then...Disco 2000, Wednesdays....Fridays...Then Saturday's at Tunnel. NASA, Save the Robots!

You have to admit it it sure did change a lot of lives some for good some for bad. To say you enjoyed yourself dancing feeling the vibe that's great however there were those nights you want to just forget. Lucky me it is a nice amount that I forgot. So God bless you Rachel for coming out of that decade a good woman with good memories
The music was just spectacular I learned a lot blending techniques scratching techniques and a whole lot of different turntablism I still have my equipment till this day I mean I have more new stuff but I hate to say had to put it on the Shelf for a little while my hands don't do what my mind want them to do anymore I'm getting old LOL

I wasn't born during those time but I wish I was a teen during those time, nowadays life sucks ppl are stuck in their phones, parties aren't even all that :/

Thanks for this! I own all of the published Keoki mix albums on CD and I've played them all to death, so it's really cool to discover "new" stuff.

Me too. His first Journey By DJ cd blew my 19 year old mind. Ego Trip was a go-to party cd for good year.

@@topdawg3359 they're all so varied so depends what you're into! All Mixed Up, Disco Death Race and Journeys by DJ are perfect examples of old school trance/house, I found that his later mixes get more and more quirky and experimental and start featuring some breakbeat which I personally love - Keokiclash and Inevitable Alien Nation are my favourites.

Same! I was a 17 y/o slinging tabs in Phoenix when a fateful family trip to NYC led to me and my sister going to Tunnel once and Limelight twice. Tripped balls both nights at Limelight. I also celebrate my 30 year DJ anniversary later this year which is how I ended up on this mix. What a long strange trip it’s been! Hung out with Keoki briefly a few times in Phoenix including playing a house party with him after a rave he played in Phoenix got broken up by the cops. I can’t even get into the details of that night lol. Jesus we were wild.
THANK YOU....god...so many people claim to post 'House music ' or similar underground stuff and it turns out to be something cheesy that was played out on the radio...so I appreciate this very much..❤
I'm so jealous of you all, I finally experienced Keokis sound in the end of 95 after grad, but stuck in the So Cal area. He's a real mood 🕺🏽🕺🏽

No way! Same here. I went to Tunnel Friday then Limelight on Saturday in the second half of July 1994 and then back to
Limelight a couple Wednesdays later for Disco 2000. So I might have been there this night too! That trip change my life. I also celebrate 30 years of being a DJ this year. Maybe we passed each other in the night!
This would have been just after Babylon opening, which was June 30, 1994, Greensboro, NC.

Made the trip down from dc, aka home of buzz Friday nites, to also enjoy the amazing people in Greensboro back in the day at Babylon

Was this disco 2000? It’s crazy because the one time I got to experience the NYC club scene was in July 1994 and I went to limelight twice. The first time was a Saturday and the second was Disco 2000 so I may have actually been there when this was recorded.
I have no idea how I ended up with two of these comments but 2021 was a weird year for me lol. I'm assuming I thought I deleted one of these but screw it leaving them up because I finally finished listening to this mix (no idea why I didn't sooner) and the ONE song from that night at Disco 2000 that I would be able to recognize from that night at Disco 2000 was when the Hed Boys track Girls + Boys came on right before the hot bodies contest. When I heard that song come in at the end of the mix as I pulled into work it blew my mind! I haven't even thought about that song in so long but even had it on vinyl eventually because of how it reminded me of my trips to Limelight. So either he played this regularly at this point since it was a popular prog house/handbag song in 1994 or.....this is the set I heard and I'm leaning towards the latter. If the latter is true, this is July 27th, 1994. I figured out by getting the dates of that family trip top NYC from my mom last week. WOW. I'm still in shock this is likely that mix.
