I was one of those people who would message and support - and I hear there are many more. For many of us brown south aucklanders he was a shining example of who we could be in the wider world. Much loved and missed.
I am deeply affected and saddened by this wonderful man & father's life ending so terribly soon. I am white, but that didn't prevent me from contacting Efesco when he was running for our Mayor, and what a wonderful leader he would have been😢Regardless of our colour or who we are, a great man has been tragically taken and I will miss him as much as I looked forward to him being the wonderful politician he was. I am so sorry this happened😢😢
Such a wonderful interview by Jack Tame but also how well Josephine & Patrick answers gave us insight into what Efeso was like from not only a professional perspective but also as a friend & just a wonderful human being who cared for all...RIL Efeso...a true legend who will be sorely missed..💔
We all know. But aren't allowed to say. Another one today - principal of Glenfield college died suddenly and unexpectedly. This isn't normal. These people shouldn't have died. Those responsible must be held to account.
After he lost to Wayne Brown, I saw him in Wellington outside the Grand. Although I am a right wing voter and of political persuasion, I stopped to shake his hand. He was so warm and friendly I could feel the warmth and care of the man. He would have made a great politician if he joined the National Party. Joining the left puts limits on someone who is of this kind of leadership. For example he is good friends with Erica Standford and also worked with her in student leadership at University. A waste really. Rest in Love, Brother. Respect.
Would have been difficult for him to be taken seriously in South Auckland as a member of the National Party. He made the right choice choosing the Greens.

Love your pronunciation of Fa'anāna Jack ❤
I love that you mentioned that he didn't have an ego. Such a loss.❤
Any news on what caused the untimely death?
