Man I miss The Books. They really changed the way I perceived and appreciated music long ago and I've been thankful ever since. Have not felt anything quite like them to this day.
The lyrics are literally two words apart from the samples but to me it still manages to convey a message reminding us to cherish experience and approach things with wonder. The ending always makes me cry, it’s so beautiful.
Watching the video while listening to this song was such a happy experience for me. I always thought that deep and meaningful music had to be so complex that it made the band sound ambiguous, or vague. But this masterpiece shows just the opposite. It was so easy for me to just look at the title of the track, listen to the song, watch the video, and then find it's personal meaning for me. If you take the time to experience life, you will find anything that you're looking for.
I miss this band. The peak of the indie scene when they were around, the early 00s. oh inverted world, the meadowlands, yoshimi battles the pink robots, turn on the bright lights, yankee hotel foxtrot, neon golden, kill the moonlight, the moon and antarctica, internal wrangler, agaetic byrjun, and thought for food, off the top of my head. Good times!
Everyone misses the sex joke. It’s so hilarious and well done. A commentary on how sex is natural, everyone’s doing it, but so much of society tries to hide it or shame it.
Jim Corbett was the quote about the young girl climbing into a tree. They edited out the words "a princess" and "a queen". This was his remark about Princess Elizabeth ascending to the throne of England after her father's death. He wrote this in the guest book at the Tree Tops hotel in Kenya where she was staying. Jim Corbett was the famous tiger hunter in India.
The "tutto è santo" quote is from Pasolini's 1969 Medea. Check it out, starting at 4:45: ua-cam.com/video/ATQ_Qi5Pzrw/v-deo.html Any clues on the source for the African women documentary? And the audio for the Jim Corbett quote?
I would love to record with you someday if possible - check out my CD here:: itunes.apple.com/us/album/consecrated1/id540154039 try it out to remix it up or send it on to Prefuse 73 etc. Hope you like it up! Peace, we are one - here it is too with the soundcloud:: soundcloud.com/consecrated1

That turned out to be the last great efflorescence of rock and roll.
Saw them perform in Leuven in the 00s. It was an unforgettable experience.
This changed my life, for real. So many years ago watching for the first time. Y'all are still my favorite!
The Books never fail to bring a tear to my eye.
It is the melancholy of childhood forgotten. At least that was how i felt listening to it.
Ive rediscovered them again, i found them on my childhood mp3 player today, it's been a good day.
It's been 10 years since I first listened to the books, and I can't stop loving them. :( Wish I had made their final concert.
I've got chills...♡
So simple and yet so beautiful and transcendent at the same time. Amazing.
this video gets there
" Something is happening which is not happening at all" < so great

There's a good chance most people in this video are no longer with us :(
BOOKS we miss you. There's awful misleading ads before your videos which is not bookish
African African!!!
oh hush
What's their song where they tell a story of hip hop that hopped too much?
"The Story of Hip Hop"
this shows humans animalistic actions which makes me happy to be alive
Progressive commercials should be illegal.
Manson at 1:32 caught me offguard.
It was Alan Watts
be careful out there among the English!
bladee fans: "woah.."
