Been looking forward to this unboxing. Not dissapointed. I never realised just how much 'stuff' would be in this box. Yes I knew about the main board and campaign cards but so many counters and cards! No wonder the box weighs so much :) Great video, thanks!
Hi @playersAid : I do enjoy the unboxing. However, it would be great if you could do an unboxing, play through several sessions and then an overall overview.
What bothers me with DVG leader series is that you always play the same game. Between Hornet (I played the original GMT version) and Phantom, well it's nearly the same. No much change between the games. Strange as the planes have evolved, electronic warfare too (and by quite a leap). The campaign are very similar one game to another. The bombs are also nearly the same. Doghfights are resolved the same way in both as if the missils hadn't evolved at all So between Corsair and Zero what will be the difference? I'm not sure having both will change many things from a player point of view. Will it be the same game with just planes names changing ? or will it be very different with specifities of japanese planes taking into account? Another thing bothers me. The game isn't complete at all. What about China? Burma? what about the awfull pilot worse than the US recruit the japanese got at the end of the war....and then appears costly expansion for that one. I hate such policy. To have the full spectrum that's more than a hundred euros. Quite costly. And that's what I dislike the most from DVG. You paid expensive games to have the same mechanisms over and over again. Only Pavlov's house was really great with new and simple mechanisms from that editor
The designer is very active on various Facebook groups and it seems like he's been playtesting this one for quite awhile, though who knows if this has released with a boat-load of errata, which people get annoyed at DVG over. I will say this looks interesting, but I've seen at least one person joke that "You can't get the box closed again, there's so much stuff," which is enough for me not to buy it. If that's indeed true, that's a pet peeve of mine when companies do that. What's the use of the box if you can't close the game up again?
@@caomhan84 I have never bought a game that was too big for the box. DVG is going to have to do a lot to convince me to buy one of their first party games again.
@@earlofdoncaster5018 Well I know that Fields of Fire is too big for the box, some of MMP's Civil War games are, and I've gotten a few games from Kickstarter that are (or, the box won't close completely again and you need a rubber band to keep it closed). Nothing irritates me more than that, honestly. All I know is that I've seen that joke applied to this game as well. Though I don't know if it's true.
Agree entirely. I've pulled recent KS due to perceived play testing anomalies, principally with the untested 'campaign' system in Warfighter Pacific and the unbalanced battle packs. Not to mention being mugged by Tiger Leader. 😞

Thanks for the unboxing, just got this in recently,my first Leader Series Game. You're right ,the box weighs a TON!
Oooooh
Love seeing this one! Good game for veterans imo, and an excellent introduction to the Leader series for new players.
Would this be a better introduction to the leader series than Corsair Leader? I’ve been eyeing that one
@@fehner27 Yes I believe so. It's the best rulebook in the Leader series, and what questions people have had are quickly answered by the designer.
For those reasons I have ordered the game today. Based on yours and others reviews and the designers active involvement on BGG.@@WayneHansen
@@mikewilcox4346 That's awesome! Let us know what you think of it once you get to play it.
Suggest you guys invest in a small cutting tool. :)

I avoid newer first party DVG games like the plague. Starting with Nimitz it 𝙨𝙚𝙚𝙢𝙨 they release games without any playtesting.
