Thanks for sharing so much great content with us bro, been watching for years! You definitely show the best detail and description on YT! Buying one of these for the holidays, cheers!
It looks like there aren't any actual new parts in this kit. The toolbox and crane are from the Galvonic Servohaulers and the console thing is from the Objectives kit. Nice to know they can just paste parts from one cad file into another though, will be interesting to see if they do more of it.
Great review but I think you're over valuing getting one round of maximum shots, over having 2 rounds of random shots, which on average will equal more. Using 2D6 the average result is 7. 7*2=14, which is more than 12. Also on average less shots but shooting twice will be much more efficient when it comes to target priority. Additionally rolling to shoot in two phases allows for a reroll if you do get a bad roll, although admittedly that requires CPs. Ultimately I don't think it's a good mechanic to have a model such as a Knight sitting around for an entire turn not shooting or charging and having a nerfed attacks profile making it a sitting duck! However, I'm glad it's weak as a unit because knights really don't need any help. So it can be used as terrain instead.
When you add to that the fact that it is only 1 weapon that gets maximum number of shots, and now you've lost an entire round of shooting on all the other weapons. This terrain costs too much (in the form of it's cost in shooting), IMHO.
crzy1gs Uhm... you do notice that it's 2d6, not 2d12? 12 is the maximum of shots. It is very unlikely to gain more than 8 shots when rolling the dices.
Nick actually, the average on 2D6 +2D6 is 14. The reason we are comparing 4D6 is because we are comparing two rounds of shooting. The round that would be lost using the terrain piece, and the round you would be shooting at maximum. This is also ignoring the lost of all other weapons
Nick Kohlmann as the other guy replied I was taking account of the missed round, plus firing round. Missing an entire round, just to allow max rolls for one weapon the next round is a terrible 'bonus' when you look at it on paper.
I like the Forgeshrine, but more because it exists, not for the model. The model is basically just random Terrain Sprues put together, to give the Knights a special Terrain piece, which is nice that they even did that! But, I think with a bit of conversion, you could do something really nice out of it, especially if you allready have the terrain from the Renegade Set and maybe but 1 or 2 Terrain sets, add some WHF Bitz, you could create one awesome shrine!
Also I don't know if I like that you cannot destroy enemie Terrain/Fortification. I guess it makes sense, to not overcomplicate and target the things, but at the same time destroying Walls of Buildings would be easy for a Knight. So yeah, maybe we'll get something simillar to Cities of Death (love this book) in 8th, with Terrain destruction, new Detatchments and Missions and such, but I dunno
They should have made it a general imperial repair station. I don't see how giving up a turn of shooting and fighting is worth any of the abilities. If you are admech just use an enginseer or two. He can move and is cheaper. If you are an imperial house you need this thing for a techpriest to heal you at all and by the time you pay for both in a list you can just get another vehicle or some kind.
I'm enjoying your terrain vids but the rules discussion isn't always on point;P. I play knights but I'd give my opponent one of these for free just on the off chance they might use it. they lose a whole round of doing anything and are stuck in your deployment zone. being able to max the shots for one weapon is far worse than being able to just shoot everything twice, and a round earlier for half. and being able to move... and be able to fight in combat. gosh I hope they improve the rules in the new codex.. this year?

You’re very welcome. Thank you for your kind words.
It's a cool terrain kit. Thanks for the review.
I like the scenery, it's very well detailed, looks like it would be fun to paint up & weather.
I just wanted to see if a Knight could fit in the bay. How could they make it too small? It's a dealbreaker for me.
aren't all the sprues from other sets? Even the 'new items' are just from the plasma conduits sprues I think?

Two-three of these will be the centrepiece of my AoP board!
Would have to build the structure up a few inches in order to fit the larger knights in. Nice terrain piece.
jup and/ or extend the middle with one tile, with some nice handywork. why not?
Thanks. Very nice kit. Appreciate the review. Top rate as always sir!
I do like the look of it
The crane and toolbox are from the galvanic servohaulers set
Tubby Scrubb Is it the other way round? Did the servo haulers come out after and also I’m sure the toolbox came out a long time ago.
Great look thanks
Oh... I just realised I haven’t even built it. I just went straight to the knights and moved on.

Mark Neil also a good point. That makes it even worse!

Might get this and build a diorama around it
It's just not worth rules wise, because you forgo a turn of shooting or charging for measily benefits the NEXT turn.
And it's d6 shot volcanno cannon, 3D3 damage, not the other way round.

Giant Dad neither do I
