  • Bueng Kan is one of Thailand's most beautiful yet under-visited Provinces. In this video I show you the mysterious 3 whales Rock, a place that is steeped in local legend but only just appearing on the tourist radar. 3 Whales Rock is within Phu Sing National Park
    Unlike some of the place I visit, this one doesn't require much hiking as pickup trucks take you from the National Park headquarters to the 3 Whales Rock and other natural wonders and viewpoints within Phu Sing National Park, North East Thailand.
    Here's a playlist of my popular videos about Thailand in the 80's and 90's

    last scene, nice finish wanting to tip the kid. I'd feel guilty afterward if I didn't. always wondered abt that, and if it was different for adult guides than a kid.

    Another cracking video. Thanks once again to the location finder company, the production team. Director, Director's trans friend, Executive producer - his mum, Costume department care of the nearest thrift shop, make-up by Loreal, the child actor, child actors chaperone, child actor's union, her uncle, local Toyota dealership, Go-Pro, Drones 4 U, the bald headed geezer....the list is endless. First, have a Merry Christmas Karl🙏
    I've seen another video of this hike but the views are so spectacular that it can't get boring 👍
    I don't know the financial background of Ploy so it might be ignorant to say how lucky she is. The uncle seems to be doing well. Anyway the point is as a child I had plenty of undeveloped land and hills around me that I used to spend a lot of my free time hiking through them. This is in Los Angeles.

      And a Happy New Year to you. The National parks can be good like that, offering different kinds of employment opportunities to the locals. However she is doing she is growing up in one of the most beautiful parts of Thailand and she seemed happy. Cheers

    So much incredible scenery in North East Thailand. Yeah in typical Thai style there are no guard rails on the top of the 3 Whale Rocks. As you mentioned Karl that type of rock can get a bit slick in rain. Interesting pot hole depressions there that are identical to ones I've seen in Central Vietnam at Bà Nà. Similar longitude. We used to call those pot hole pools "mosquito factories" in the 1990s... but usually in park and tourist areas now they treat those mini ponds. Bigger ones they put frogs and small fish in them to eat the mosquito larve. The place I mentioned in Vietnam is known as "Ba Na Station" now and it's been developed more. I took a Honda Cub 70 over 3 "monkey bridges" each way to get up there in the mid 1990s to get water samples. One of my Timberline boots got sucked right off my foot in the mud up there. Now we have paved roads... That kid Ploy seemed like a good trooper. She's getting valuable training dealing with westerners even if she doesn't get that yet... she will. Cheers - Merry Christmas !!

    • @karlsthailand
      @karlsthailand  9 місяців тому

      It's a fascinating place Mal. Tbh I'm not sure how I'd feel about railings on the 3 Whales rocks. I think the chances are it will probably happen at some point, everything elde there is being 'updated' but I do think it will detract from the place as a spectacle. Ploy was cool and I guess it's quite interesting for her going to such a beautiful spot every day and interacting with the tourists as you say. Cheers
