Always enjoy your videos and thought 17k was successful for content subject and audience. I don't do Patreon for personal reasons. I'm with you whatever you decide but please, don't become a different person! 😁
I don't do Patreon. I don't want to make regular payments. But I do make donations to many YT Creators when they offer Paypal or other ways to donate/support as a one time acknowledgement. Some call it a coffee fund, etc. So offer that here. You could do both. Project Farm is a great channel, but he refuses to offer other ways for me to reward him, other than Patreon.
I like your videos! They get to the point and aren't encumbered by fancy production or appeal to an overly broad audience. But if some additional support helps you post all your schematics to a standalone website, or even helps you publish some books, I'm for it! (Would also prefer paypal.)

Thanks for the advice and kind wishes for my work. I have a lot of stuff collected over many years that needs to go to that Patreon channel where interested folks can access it.
Hi Mike, I have long been looking for your Patreon Link, and would IMMEDIATELY join! With respect to the subscriber count, I actually called into the ARRL HQ last year, to one of the Public Relations guys, to ask why your channel was not noted in QST. Mr. Castler has a popular YT Channel, with more basic content, and has a contributing position there, for example. I appreciate all Hams sharing our hobby, but your WU2D UA-cam channel is the ONLY one, gifted and detailed way back to the Tube circuits we grew up with in the 60-70s, to design a REGENERATIVE Aircraft Receiver, and then borrow a Noise Operated Squelch circuit from a Mocomm or GE Progress Line radio, if I remember correctly. After joining your Patreon, I would ask tf you knew the circuit for the much vaunted 6X8 Mixer/Oscillator conversion to replace the noisy 6K8 Command Set tube in my Hammarlund HQ-129-X Novice/Advanced receiver I still have! 73's Hilary W4HDL
Mike....The problem with the YT algorithm is it demands to be fed often. The demands of content generation mean the enjoyment can suffer. All of a sudden, we are doing reviews of crap gear, or doing weird dances so people will buy a sticker on the feed (like demented dancing bears). I love your unique content, the way it harkens back to the days of tubes....It's kind of a more "ham focussed" Mr Carlson's Lab. Mr Carlson seems to have a good handle on being a fulltime YT guy. He runs electronics courses, a member only option etc....Maybe have a look at his set up? I like your content, especially the builds. Kits too could be a good way to go. Glad to hear you are retired as it means more videos?? 73 OM de VK2AOE George

"Some didn't like Facebook, so we'll do Patreon" well, those who don't donate on Patreon will never know whether they prefer it over the (freely accessible) Facebook. The "exclusive content" part is very scary; I hope this channel isn't going to become another Mr Carlson's Lab, where he uses his youtube as a gathering space and advertisement medium for his prospective Patreon supporters, while posting some AA5 recapping and alignment videos just to keep up the interest. I've been a subscriber since about 2019; if there was no "exclusive content for paying customers only" (see "The Signal Path"), and some way to allow one-off donations, that would be better IMO.
Another channel that is essentially dead to me is Clickspring. I have no idea what's going on anymore. Projects that used to very clearly progress from one step to another no longer. It seems that the only people that know what's going on are on Patreon. I also used to watch Doubleboost every Sunday night. Until he got a Patreon and then suddenly everything was about Patreon with long speeches about Patreon at the front of his videos. I just stopped watching. Good content but now all fragmented.
Love your channel, I nearly always learn something. But the youtube algorithm isn't kind to your type of channel. And you might have to dumb it down from the narrow market you have now. Please don't do that. Then there is Mr Carlson, don't get me wrong I've learned some very helpful things from him, but where he goes into a leaking capacitor and his capacitor tester I start to convulse. Especially after his fraudulent comparison to the heathkit IT-28 tester.

That is precisely why I will never crack that algorithm.
@@MIKROWAVE1 You are in my top 10!!! The technical knowledge both past and present keeps ham "culture" alive. So thankssssssssssss 73 OM dit dit.
👍 Congratulations . At 6::09 1 tube xtal xcrv (circuit). sir i did not see that video. please attach the link . Thank you sir.
Wow someone is watching! That concept has not been let loose yet on the channel.
@@MIKROWAVE1 Sir please make the video. i am a qrp lover. I made one channel(40m) ssb small transceiver (with built-in battery), size of a 9 volt battery, worked 400 km.
vu2knd.
always like his content.....and, I left Facebook Valentine's Day, 2024....
On Valentines day. How did you recover? Hee.
@@MIKROWAVE1 I haven't been back to facebook, and probably won't...unless.....I put my small business on there, which I might.....but NO PERSONAL ACCOUNT....have always preferred youtube...don't like tictok.....have had my channel for a while.....but I may start another one....we'll see.....had a big fire at my hobby shop.....lost o-scopes, sig. gen's, radios, as well as other electronic gear....construction materials/tools......a good 10K loss for me, and at least 20K, maybe more, from the guy I'm buying the lot from....he had some insurance, but I had none....he did rebuild the garage, and it will be better.....the North and the west walls survived, but the rest did not....hopefully, my other solar system will go in before the snow flies (at least get the panels on and the DC cable run in....then to the batteries, and the pure sine wave inverter (24VDC to 120 VAC).....I can do the inside when it's snowing....I wish you the best, sir......hopefully, this winter, I can go thru the many xtals/coils/parts that was at my ham shack.....at least I have some stuff left.....73's, and gud dx....AB5ZA/7....dit dit.
Mike, been following u fer a long time, but NO Pateron for me. Your too smart fer that....
I will study the situation. A second platform is a lot of work, but YT is just not valuing my content enough.
Love your content but Patreon is a no-go for me. Would pay for books with solid state content.
Books are coming.
I have had my channel for 20 years, but you have almost 3 times the subscribers. Now you are going Go Fund you?
You are 10x smarter than me.
Well only if you feel obligated. Hee I cant be 10X smarter than my teacher!
@@MIKROWAVE1 You are not ten. But some of my 4th graders are smarter than me. Some ride horses.
I can't do that dance!
So on your 10 anniversary you decided to become a youtube bumbeggar, congratulations : (
I'm a social climber.
I'm in, where do I sign up! Is the Apache a teaser? I'm on my way to get mine (and my Mohawk but not the Warrior) out of storage to participate in the AWA AM QSO Party this weekend hope to meet you on the air. WU2D de KB8KNM
