Thus you will be taxed on stock received even if you do not sell the stock. The income from the tock is taxed at ordinary income. Most sell NSOs right away so they have no gain on the sale. income from RSUs and NSOs is calculated differently so that is something to look up. But if you are an employee and are granted stock then you are usually going to pay some taxes on it.
