Yes, of course, the Hearts of Jesus and the Blessed Mother are hurting over what happened on October 7th... Jesus deeply experienced a whole range of emotions. But, it doesn't stop there. God is equally moved to compassion at seeing the suffering hearts of each and every one of us when things happen- great or small. This is clearly evident in the writings of St. Therese of Lisieux.
And, Pope Francis did issue a call for prayer and fasting on October 7, 2024 in remembrance of this first anniversary of the brutal terrorist attack on Israel. This call was communicated to the Bishops of the world who, in turn, relayed the call to the parish priests. The Holy Father pleaded with everyone to live a day of prayer and fasting for peace in the world. As far as I know, many Catholics in our community, including myself, offered up prayers that day and said the rosary- whether in a group or alone and fasted in an effort to honor and respect the Pope's urgent request for peace in the world to commemorate this horrific occasion for the victims who have lost their lives and their families, for the hostages who remain in captivity and their families, for all the people of the Middle East and the Holy Land who live each day in fear of escalating violence and destruction. He ended his prayer in a call for peace to each of us and to all the people of Israel. Amen.
Thank you for your comments. Your heart is in union with ours. Grace and Peace to you.
