It's fun witnessing the progress of your deck building. Seeing THE MYCOTYRANT!!! deck you've build before, combining with one of your classic favorite Skyfisher Spider, and NOW seeing it come together under these new additions... love it.
Man, this deck reminds me of the first deck I tried to build when I learned the game back when dominaria came out (maybe 6 years ago), it was saprolings with song of freyalise and it could ramp insanely fast, having torgaar to 1-shot the opponent (as fast as turn 4). It was never really competitive but I had tons of fun playing it
Woahhh Mogwai! I didn't know you came back to magic!! I loved watching your arena content back around ravnica and war of the spark, I'm happy to see you back on mtg
I've recently returned to MTG because of your videos, really gave me a itch for deckbuilding I had kinda forgotten in recent times, thnx for that mogwai (great video, btw)
how's the standard metagame now? I quit years ago back when embercleave and oko made it unplayable but your vids make me want to come back. I used to watch your vids everyday!
Rotation is going to happen soon (within the next few weeks), so things are subject to change, but I'd say it's been good for the past few sets (maybe even the best it's been since Arena started? Certainly in the top 3 standard formats). There are Tier 1-2 decks in all the macro archetypes (aggro, midrange, control, and combo) and a ton of room to brew Tier 3-4 decks that compete reasonably well with them (as Mogwai's videos demonstrate). The recent move to 3 year rotation instead of 2 year rotation means some cards like Sheoldred and The Wandering Emperor have been metagame staples for a longer amount of time than usual, which some people don't like. The upside is that three years of sets really does open up brewing a fair bit, and every new set has made a reasonable amount of impact in the top tiers of play as well. There was a small number of bans, during March of the Machine a little more than a year ago, but that seemed to clean things up pretty well and allow for one of the best years of standard in the Arena era.
There’s more variety than there was during embercleave times. However the shuffling and matchmaking system is still rigged so it will quickly became stale. Another thing I’ve realized is how powerful standard decks are now. I don’t even play historic anymore because every game was a blowout with someone being the winner from the start. Now I’d say even standard is starting to only play like this.
Hey Miguel, i started playing Magic at the same time as you (tu me diste ese último empujoncito que necesitaba para dejar Snap), it would really help me if you could talk about how good the deck you think it is, as i have to be picky with how i spend my wildcards. Saludos desde Argentina!
Aww damn, i like when the video is 50 minutes at least, since the deck tech is usually the first 10-12.
One of my favorite MTG youtubers rn. Great to see Golgari!
I don’t even play Magic and just enjoy your deck tech explanations & thought process. Keep up the great content Mogwai
I see insidious roots being made justice, i press like!
