      @@bri827 It was that ab video.
      For me it was hip raises. I’ve been getting back pains and looked up back stretches and exercises when I notice there’s popping on my back hip or tailbone.
      I guess certain issues from ab workouts or hip raises can cause popping around the hip, and we got this video in our algorithm.

    Thanks so much for this, I'm 15 and started working out a small while ago, my hip popping during ab exercises was always concerning to me to the point where I would elect not to do them out of fear that I would cause damage to my body. Thanks to the clarity in which you explained the issue and the solution I'm now much more comfortable in the fact that it is something I can work towards fixing which would make me feel much more safe when doing the exercises in future.
    Edit: I was doing the glute stretches for about 5 minutes after viewing the video and noticed an immediate difference, there was no clicking when doing abdominal exercises such as leg raises. This will absolutely become a part of my routine from now on.

    I will definitely include thoses stretches in my gymnastics. Thanks a lot!
    I am not a physio, but regarding my knowledge there is no point in rolling over the IT-Band because it won’t do anything to the structure except hurting. So in my opinion, it’s more about going to work on the muscles the IT-Band attaches to.
    Regards Erik

      @MelThePhysio  3 роки тому +1

      It is true this has become a very controversial topic these days :) but if you have been in the health or fitness industry for a while you will learn to take all information with a grain of salt :) science and the medical world is an ever changing topic, we discover new research all the time hence keeping up with new research are important but not disregarding the old ones is also important:) throughout my years rehabilitating people I do find that a large percentage of people do still benefit from rolling their ITB :) albeit you are absolutely right itb is indeed a tissue not a muscles but foam rolling like how you will find research saying it doesn’t help, you will also find research that have shown that sustained pressure may help to reduce fascial adhesions and soften the targeted tissues, compression and decompression can assist fluid flow to congested areas, which may well be helpful to maintaining healthy tissues, improving nerve ending stimulation which facilitate better proprioception to the area.
      Science is always changing and I won’t encourage people to completely disregard certain treatment type just because of recent research results, as over the years you will see it will probably change up quite a fair bit :)
      It all depends on individual and how they react to different treatment as well. If you have found in the past foam roller itb doesn’t work for you then yes it’s probably not the best treatment options for you :)
      Good luck with the exercises :)

I realized watching this video that I need to focus on my IT Band and Glutes more closely along with doing the stretches and I did that exact foam rolling yesterday on my IT Band and it gave me a lot of relief post-dance practice. So helpful! Ive always had a very pronounced click in my right hip when lowering my right leg during leg raises on my back. I just thought my hip was weird and would avoid exercises that caused the clicking🙈.
    I have been riding and jumping horses for about 15 years and definitely have "stronger" and "tighter" right leg and seat. So I could see how stiffness and tightness in the body could contribute to clicking. I never thought it could possibly be something fixed by stretching! Definitely going to incorporate those stretches into my day to day. Thanks 😊
