You can't understand what it feels like to find out such details. It is better to bring up the child with the full knowledge that they are adopted. Otherwise they feel their life is completely a lie. Disclosure is certainly difficult to handle but when a child is given age appropriate information as they grow, it becomes a part of them.

I don't think the issue is adoption as Africans have done this for years however it's when ppl think adoption is greater or should be considered by force when, expecting mothers always dreamed of having their own biological children. Louisa is one loved child. I remember all the way from season 1, her parents loved her so much that not even she herself questioned if she was ever their child. I don't agree with her parents keeping the truth from her for thag long, but Louisa is a believer and recalling on her past she must truly thank God for her parents. What did she not have as a MD child? She was loved, clothed and well taken care of. Her mother especially loved her very much. Somehow I feel like it's her view on adoption that made her react that way. It is okay for her to be ahocked and all that, but to overeat in a way that potrays ungratefulness is not right.
The way Otunba and his wife took care of Lisa is enough reason for her to forgive her parents. They took her as their own. I know its hard but let the Holy Spirit heal her so she can see beyond the pain
Louisa's view on adoption is the problem here. If she viewed adoption positively she would not have had such a terrible reaction to the news. I'm not saying the parents were right to conceal that information but their efforts to make her feel as though she is their biological daughter should count.
It's not all about her view on adoption. Let her enjoy and outgrow her shock. Put yourself in her shoes. In fact, put yourself in your own shoes, let your parents inform you that they weren't the one who gave birth to you. It's like saying that all your life, you lived a facade and fallacy. She should have been informed right from childhood let her live with it and grow out of it. They adopted her for their own fulfilment probably because they couldn't conceive their own. She brought joy to their home. No doubt she was raised well as every child should be by their parents. Infact they over pampered her being their only child. What they failed to do is disclose her true identity to her while growing up. Now she is lost! 😳 She has built her entire life on a false identity. Everyone desires to identify and grow up with their biological parents no matter their situation. Otherwise adoptees feel rejected no matter who adopted them. Expecting them to feel grateful is implying they are not worthy to be raised properly as you & me. They chose to adopt the child for their own reasons & should have told her the truth. The ANGER issues you mentioned will probably get worse. Maybe she would have lived her life in a totally different way and made different life decisions. In the Bible, Moses was adopted by Pharaoh's daughter & was raised in the Palace as an Egyptian. When he discovered he was a Hebrew, everything changed. Exd 2:11 says Moses went out to HIS BROTHERS and saw their burdens were great. He saw an Egyptian man strike a Hebrew man and he identified with him by fighting the Egyptian. Her mind is plagued by a myrid of questions and feelings. Why didn't my parents love me? Why did they reject me? Why did my adopted parents lie to me all these years? Can I even trust anyone ever? 🤔 These & more are probably some of the questions driving her crazy. Hmm, Husband and Wife series is teaching us a lot. Breaking news of adoption doesn't have to be this hard. Teach children adoption stories from when they are young. Let them watch movies related to adoption. And if they are christians, in addition, teach them how we are adopted to the family of christ and now we call God Abba Father. When it is time to break the news, adopted parents were suppose to work on their emotions and become strong before the D-day, make the day a joyful moment and a mimi family celebration, not a suspicious and moody one. During the gathering, relay how far God has brought the family, the wonderful times the family has shared together. Celebrate the child for all the milestone she has achieved and how proud you are to be her parent and softly break the news and your continuous willingness to be her lovely parent. Will she still break down? YES, but the knowledge of adoption she's eqquiped it, with the present support system will helped her back on her feet . I really am confused about Louisa's reaction to her being adopted. I can understand she is shocked and should have been told may be at an earlier age. She seemed to dispise the two people who cared and raised her up to the woman she is today. There are children who know their parents but abandon or not cared for. I am sure they would loved to have grow up in Otunba house. She has a problem with being adopted or adoption in it self. She needs to find out why they adopted her. Do they know the reason why her bio family put her up for adoption. They can be so many reasons for adoption. It is not a bad thing to be adopted. It shows someone is willing to take you into their family and love you as their own. I know some kids are ill treated but that also happen even if not adopted and more so. Louisa is well loved and should be grateful towards her adopted family. I hope Lord speaks to her heart and that she remembers we are all adopted in Christ.
Do you know what it feels like to later get to know that your parents are not really your parents?? Like the life you were living wasn't really your life. No knowledge of her background. No relative. Nothing. Truth is a lot of thoughts come washing down on you. But with time, you'll get to clear your mind and look towards the good side. Her emotions are not invalid. It's because you're watching a movie. Don't be quick to invalidate her feelings/reactions because it didn't happen to you.
I like the way Pastor Right presents to us issues that we struggle with in society. ADOPTION is one such area that is unfortunately stigmatized and sorrounded with so much shame & secrecy. We are yet to fully embrace the concept of adoption like the western countries. I see most comments saying Lulu is overreacting and ungrateful which goes to show that we also do not understand the psychological struggles of adoptees. Rejection. She feels her own biological parents rejected her. This is a deep wound. Lack of identity roots/origin. She now feels like an outsider no matter how much love & assurance has been shown to her. Questions of who her real parents are, if she has other relatives and where she comes from will consume her. It is a closure she needs yet she might feel disloyal to her adoptive parents. Anger because she was told a lie all her life. It's betrayal to her even though it was never intended. Most adoptees prefer to grow up with that knowledge instead of being shocked with it as adults. It must be a confusion of different feelings of ambiguous grief for the family you never had yet people are expecting you to be grateful for the family that raised you. 😢

I feel Louise's pain. Even though it's true she had parents to take care of her while growing, she would still feel the hurt of not having or knowing her biological parents. Her Pastors were even invited. Not everyone would want that kind of announcement.
Please any adopted child should rather be grateful for all the love and care they enjoy. Don't be an ingrate . DNA alone can't make parenting. It's the responsibilities that makes one feels he/she has parents. I was expecting Louisa to start wondering how they shows her so much love and care despite the fact she is not their biological child, not the other way round. I totally agree with you. In my opinion, I do not think the parent had gone wrong by keeping such information away from her. It simply could be due to the fear of loosing her or creating a gap in their relationship. More so, because Nigerian society always want people in such situation to feel and look less than whom they are once the truth is revealed...relatives and others would want to stigmatize the couple as well as the child. Either way, any adopted child in similar situation should be appreciative of the love and sacrifice shown by their adopted parents and not to judge their decision of keeping it as a secret for reasons best known to the couple. I like the way Baba Soldier prayed sincerely about winning souls for Christ. Louisa is an adult and should have asked questions as to why, how and what led to her adoption instead of just backing off like that, though it hurts but it's not possible for Otunba to tell her when she was much younger, it would have affected her. It is always a dilemma about what age to tell a child he/she is adopted. Their pain is many-fold...the pain of feeling rejected by their real parents and the pain of feeling their adoptive parents lied to them for some years before opening up. The issue is not Louisa’s reaction, the issue is our cultural view around infertility and adoption. In Africa infertility is a shame (as if you inflicted yourself) and the solution is divorce or marry a second wife (as if the issue can never come from the husband). Otunba could not adopt openly because his wife would be attacked, himself would be critized and mocked (why would you accept a child that is not your own? Why dont you impregnant a lady? Why would you stay with a barren wife etc) and Louisa would be ostrocized as an adopted children. Louisa is not mad for being adopted, she’s upset because the secret was kept from her from such a long Time. Plus us Christians let’s do better. When you have never been in somebodys shoes, stop telling them how they should react or not react. Just pray for them and let the Holy Spirit do the necessary attitude correcting.

While I understand the points of some of us saying Louisa's reaction isn't right, I don't quite agree. Her reaction is very justifiable. The information shouldn't have been kept from her. She should have known this since she was a child. She should have grown up with that knowledge, and she would still have appreciated her parents more. They kept the information from her for far too long a time.

Nevertheless, with my little experience of life, She aught to be more greatful, and accepted the fact that whether adopted or not , they are her parents. Hmmmmmm what a powerful episode The reason why Louisa is finding it hard is because she has issues with adoption more reasons why she said adoption was a no no when her parents advised her of it with her fear of childbirth, she was even supposed to thank God she found a nice parents to adopt her and take care of her without even mentioning it to her for once ever since. An adopted child is a real child so the accusation that she was lied to is not true
Louisa is one loved child. I remember all the way from season 1, her parents loved her so much that not even she herself questioned if she was ever their child. I don't agree with her parents keeping the truth from her for thag long, but Louisa is a believer and recalling on her past she must truly thank God for her parents. What did she not have as a MD child? She was loved, clothed and well taken care of. Her mother especially loved her very much. Somehow I feel like it's her view on adoption that made her react that way. It is okay for her to be ahocked and all that, but to overeat in a way that potrays ungratefulness is not right.

Louisa's view on adoption is the problem here. If she viewed adoption positively she would not have had such a terrible reaction to the news. I'm not saying the parents were right to conceal that information but their efforts to make her feel as though she is their biological daughter should count.
It's not all about her view on adoption. Let her enjoy and outgrow her shock. Put yourself in her shoes. In fact, put yourself in your own shoes, let your parents inform you that they weren't the one who gave birth to you. It's like saying that all your life, you lived a facade and fallacy. She should have been informed right from childhood let her live with it and grow out of it.
Adoption is actually a heavy matter even we believers became Sons to GOD by the Spirit of adoption (Ephesians 1:5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,
Romans 8:15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”)

It's not because she was brought up in a wealthy christian home that we should invalidate her emotions and feelings. I never commented before but this in my opinion has to be said. Louisa is overreacting, I also believe she has some anger issues she needs to deal with as a child of God. What didn't she get as a Michael Douglas child? She also has a tendency to disrespect her parents when she doesn't get her way. Overall, I think this path was to extend the story line so no problem 😊

No doubt she was raised well as every child should be by their parents. Infact they over pampered her being their only child. What they failed to do is disclose her true identity to her while growing up. Now she is lost! 😳 She has built her entire life on a false identity.
Everyone desires to identify and grow up with their biological parents no matter their situation. Otherwise adoptees feel rejected no matter who adopted them. Expecting them to feel grateful is implying they are not worthy to be raised properly as you & me. It also implies we are holding them responsible for the choices their parents made. It is the parents of the adopted children who should feel grateful towards those who adopted their children. The children have a right to a good life. They should not be made to feel lucky or that they owe their life to their adopters. No. They did not choose them. They chose to adopt the child for their own reasons & should have told her the truth.
The ANGER issues you mentioned will probably get worse. Because that's exactly how you would feel if someone took away your right to grow up with your true identity. Maybe she would have lived her life in a totally different way and made different life decisions.
In the Bible, Moses was adopted by Pharaoh's daughter & was raised in the Palace as an Egyptian. When he discovered he was a Hebrew, everything changed. Exd 2:11 says Moses went out to HIS BROTHERS and saw their burdens were great. He saw an Egyptian man strike a Hebrew man and he identified with him by fighting the Egyptian.
Her mind is plagued by a myrid of questions and feelings. Why didn't my parents love me? Why did they reject me? Why did my adopted parents lie to me all these years? Can I even trust anyone ever? 🤔 These & more are probably some of the questions driving her crazy. Her entire world as she knew it has changed instantly.

Hmm, Husband and Wife series is teaching us a lot. Breaking news of adoption doesn't have to be this hard.
Teach children adoption stories from when they are young.
Let them watch movies related to adoption.
And if they are christians, in addition, teach them how we are adopted to the family of christ and now we call God Abba Father.
When it is time to break the news, adopted parents were suppose to work on their emotions and become strong before the D-day, make the day a joyful moment and a mimi family celebration, not a suspicious and moody one.
During the gathering, relay how far God has brought the family, the wonderful times the family has shared together.
Celebrate the child for all the milestone she has achieved and how proud you are to be her parent and softly break the news and your continuous willingness to be her lovely parent.
Will she still break down? YES, but the knowledge of adoption she's eqquiped it, with the present support system will helped her back on her feet .

I really am confused about Louisa's reaction to her being adopted. I can understand she is shocked and should have been told may be at an earlier age. She seemed to dispise the two people who cared and raised her up to the woman she is today. There are children who know their parents but abandon or not cared for. I am sure they would loved to have grow up in Otunba house. She has a problem with being adopted or adoption in it self. She needs to find out why they adopted her. Do they know the reason why her bio family put her up for adoption. They can be so many reasons for adoption. It is not a bad thing to be adopted. It shows someone is willing to take you into their family and love you as their own. I know some kids are ill treated but that also happen even if not adopted and more so. Louisa is well loved and should be grateful towards her adopted family. I hope Lord speaks to her heart and that she remembers we are all adopted in Christ.

I like the way Pastor Right presents to us issues that we struggle with in society. ADOPTION is one such area that is unfortunately stigmatized and sorrounded with so much shame & secrecy. We are yet to fully embrace the concept of adoption like the western countries.
I see most comments saying Lulu is overreacting and ungrateful which goes to show that we also do not understand the psychological struggles of adoptees.
Rejection. She feels her own biological parents rejected her. This is a deep wound.
Lack of identity roots/origin. She now feels like an outsider no matter how much love & assurance has been shown to her. Questions of who her real parents are, if she has other relatives and where she comes from will consume her. It is a closure she needs yet she might feel disloyal to her adoptive parents.
Anger because she was told a lie all her life. It's betrayal to her even though it was never intended. Most adoptees prefer to grow up with that knowledge instead of being shocked with it as adults.
It must be a confusion of different feelings of ambiguous grief for the family you never had yet people are expecting you to be grateful for the family that raised you. 😢
Louisa didn’t know what God did for her , hadn’t been that she knows she will be praising God rather she is there crying her eyes out for nothing.

Unfolding Louisa's adoption is a reality that must be faced sooner or later. Reflecting on her reaction on Bimpe adopting a child shows her mind set about adopted children. This was a beautiful teaching moment to have taken advantage of, especially seeing how she has grown in her walk with Christ impacting lives such her father in-law BBa Soldier. I feel Louise's pain. Even though it's true she had parents to take care of her while growing, she would still feel the hurt of not having or knowing her biological parents. Her Pastors were even invited. Not everyone would want that kind of announcement.
Please any adopted child should rather be grateful for all the love and care they enjoy. Don't be an ingrate . DNA alone can't make parenting. It's the responsibilities that makes one feels he/she has parents.
I was expecting Louisa to start wondering how they shows her so much love and care despite the fact she is not their biological child, not the other way round.

I totally agree with you. In my opinion, I do not think the parent had gone wrong by keeping such information away from her. It simply could be due to the fear of loosing her or creating a gap in their relationship. More so, because Nigerian society always want people in such situation to feel and look less than whom they are once the truth is revealed...relatives and others would want to stigmatize the couple as well as the child. Either way, any adopted child in similar situation should be appreciative of the love and sacrifice shown by their adopted parents and not to judge their decision of keeping it as a secret for reasons best known to the couple. It is always a dilemma about what age to tell a child he/she is adopted. Their pain is many-fold...the pain of feeling rejected by their real parents and the pain of feeling their adoptive parents lied to them for some years before opening up. The issue is not Louisa’s reaction, the issue is our cultural view around infertility and adoption. In Africa infertility is a shame (as if you inflicted yourself) and the solution is divorce or marry a second wife (as if the issue can never come from the husband).
Otunba could not adopt openly because his wife would be attacked, himself would be critized and mocked (why would you accept a child that is not your own? Why dont you impregnant a lady? Why would you stay with a barren wife etc) and Louisa would be ostrocized as an adopted children.
Louisa is not mad for being adopted, she’s upset because the secret was kept from her from such a long Time.
Plus us Christians let’s do better. When you have never been in somebodys shoes, stop telling them how they should react or not react. Just pray for them and let the Holy Spirit do the necessary attitude correcting.

While I understand the points of some of us saying Louisa's reaction isn't right, I don't quite agree. Her reaction is very justifiable. The information shouldn't have been kept from her. She should have known this since she was a child. She should have grown up with that knowledge, and she would still have appreciated her parents more. They kept the information from her for far too long a time.

There are so many children that need parents and if believers view adoption the way others view it then we are not in God's plan. The reason why Louisa is finding it hard is because she has issues with adoption more reasons why she said adoption was a no no when her parents advised her of it with her fear of childbirth, she was even supposed to thank God she found a nice parents to adopt her and take care of her without even mentioning it to her for once ever since.
