So as a psychology major, reading and writing are in different parts of the brain and memory doesn't have a specific area but throughout the entire brain, so technically, Sheldon is right, it is a different part of his memory. I do the same thing like I can read sentences and such but don't ask me for writing a short story.

In Sheldon's defense, writing and reading are different skills to use when talking about language just like listening and speaking are. Listening and reading are both passive skills and take much less effort than speaking and writing which are both active skills.

I'm learning Chinese atm at university as well as japanese and Korean. But my main language I'm learning it Japanese. You guys are so funny. It's easier for me to learn Japanese kanji with Chinese characters because a lot of them mean the same thing just sound different like 口 kou is 口(くち) kuchi in Japanese and it means mouth in both languages. I like watching you guys.

I'm an ABC, went to a Chinese school that taught Cantonese for 6-7 years, learnt Mandarin at regular school for 9 years, but I suck at both and can basically only read and write.
