Plus today's weather looks perfect for exploring. Not too hot and no rain. And during your search of many streams you acquired a good amount of snails. Another good source of protein for you and Lucky. But you didn't just find snails you also found a,couple of bamboo shoots, and some green herbs. Are they green peppercorns? To take back home to add to your dinner as well. And glad to see Lucky patiently waiting for you at the house. But why didn't he go with you friend? Lucky loves the thrill of a hunt. So many next time let him run and search for food as well. He might find something that you didn't see. And your dinner for today looks delicious. A nice snail stew or congee is always inviting. I had escargot at a restaurant, but not snail soup. A lot of French food and "soul food" would gross most Americans out. Well, chitlins, anyway. Settlers in the Pacific Northwest used to eat pickled slugs. They ate what they could find, depending on the region they're in. Same with hillbillies and Cajuns. It's basically poor people food, people who live away from the city. Since they grew up that way, it probably doesn't bother them. It's cultural.
Man, what's kind of snails is it? We have a pond snails in Russia too. But they are intermediate hosts of some parasites. That's why we have no tradition of eating them.
