Amazing job you always have the unique horror that you can’t get nowhere else. You turn morals into horror as in life lessons but put it in a unique horror form to get the best of both. Your variety of horror content is awesome when are you going to do a intense horror film??
Such an amazing depiction of what trauma looks and feels like. It’s all consuming and festering. A stain no child asked for but is yet burdened with. The actor did a beautiful job of showing us what it’s like to struggle with the relief of making it through, but also dealing with the pain of surviving. The filmmaker made a blatant but delicate message easy for anyone to understand. What a great piece of film this short was. Many blessings to all who watched and felt something. Dear survivors, you are not alone.
Holy crap, guys. This short hit me SO HARD. What a horrific and also beautiful and accurate depiction of the guilt and PTSD that stays with us years after the assault(s). I felt this so deeply...only another victim would have the experience to transform the pain, fear, shame and isolation into something this cool. Thank you.
This is exactly.. what it feels like. I'll never forget holding in that trauma for over 16 years... and when I finally came out no one protected me. The stigma that hovers over you, the fear that you will be hated, hurt and cast out from normalcy is crippling. And still after the truth is shed light on, you live with the guilt people throw on you, "You ruined a man/woman's entire life" , it really is like a monster creeping to just slit your throat so you can never speak again. I still feel like people are thinking those thoughts around me. I can't go to parties or have relationships because of it intimacy is not real for me. And I can sympathize so much with the ones who have experienced it as well. Don't ever let someone tell you it's your fault. Speak up and don't back down... even if they hate you. Because no one is more important to love than yourself.
@@WatchALTER someone very dear to my heart endured abuses I can't describe here and the memories of them have haunted him for so long. He had to relive the horrors of his childhood and it changed him in ways deeper than words can describe but seeing this dark shadow haunting the young man in this short has made me realise that the same demons haunt the one dearest to me and will till his final day. Thankyou for opening my eyes to a way of seeing his pain in a more literal form.
I love this, people like myself that have gone through sexual/physical assault find it hard to talk about it to anyone, I waited for years to tell anyone and it literally ate at me everyday I still dwell on it a bit now (ptsd) but talking about it does eventually help to alleviate these dark feelings I hold inside. Thanks alter 💖
We agree Lloyd! Giving a form to his inner demons creates a dialogue that feels so close and captures suffering in such a raw way. Thanks for watching!
To Alter and Hector Bell. This was an extremely powerful film. Trauma and memory of trauma especially from childhood are monsters of extreme intensity and horror. Thus film was superb in presenting dynamic. I am a Mental Health Counselor by profession and there is help. Please call your hotline numbers. There are some specific techniques that can help. Two examples are Cognitive Processing Therapy and EMDR. The lead actor Jack Roper in this was stellar. The presentation of the monster was creepy and lingering just like trauma. I loved how the tone of the music changed at the phone call as it reminds us that there is hope. The film sadly reminds us that real life horror is just as powerful as fictional horror. Haunting yet beautifully made. Peace.
ngl, was expecting a sad or horrific ending with this one since it's really hard to deal with trauma and assault... but i loved this a lot bc it got a somewhat happy ending (and the monster kinda reminds me of death note's ryuk)
It's hard to describe the demons that haunt us, but this film has done a hell of job doing just that. No matter how hard you want to ignore it, IT is always with you like your shadow's sinister sibling. And when you least expect it the slightest mention of the past only lends to agitate and exasperate the pain, the fear, the nightmare of its origin. Thank you for making a film that hopefully will allow the fortunate ones to finally understand the tortured.
This is such a good representation of the trauma and anxiety after a sexual assault. It lingers with you, follows you constantly, for years. I can't say it will last forever because I haven't lived my whole life yet, I hope not though. I honestly feel this film with my soul. Thank you for making it, it reminds me that I'm not alone.
Wow. Unbelievably well done. The content put out by Alter is on another level when it comes to not only writing and production, but how in-depth they go into real struggles we all face. The mindless faux writers and producers in Hollywood could learn something.
I loved how, towards the end, the monster's growl reduces to a whimper as Aaron calls the police. May every survivor be able to beat their demons like this! Thank you, +Hector Bell, for taking us on such an enlightening journey through the mind of a trauma victim. And of course, thank you, +Alter, for gifting us this unforgettable experience.
That was a nice touch having the click of the mouse synched with the blink of his eye - as if he is a camera and the images will be forever imbedded in his mind.
this is one of the most interesting depictions of sexual assualt aftermath / PTSD and dealing with the effects on a daily basis long after the trauma has happened. I relate to this video so much. trauma is something that follows you around and can destroy your life. A person can look completely normal on the outside and be suffering with PTSD and trauma related issues internally on a daily basis. I personally have flashbacks, nightmares, panic attacks, isolation problems.... I hope this video starts even the smallest amount of a discussion about this issue between people, even if it is only in the comments section of this video. To all those out there suffering, please know you are not alone.
😬I feel for those victims dealing with this! PLEASE don't suffer in silence; know that you are NOT alone! Well done short! I so hope this helps others! PLEASE Stay 'safe', everyone❣️ Blessed be🌜
I hope this film is seen especially by people who have had this experience. Idk why but I felt this was more powerful because the mc was a man, and other people should keep in mind that sexual harassment can happen to men, too. I hope no victim ever gets blamed for something they didn't want. I hope they find the love and peace they deserve. Thanks for always bringing us the best short horror films out there, ALTER!❤️
This is a really good depiction of what this trauma is like, at least for me. When you have grown up with it, even though it's been with you for so long, it still weighs you down in a lot of ways, and eventually you kinda accept that it's there, even if you don't acknowledge that it is, and simple things, like seeing people kissing, can bring up. It's a hard subject to incorporate into horror without it being seen as shock value (though that is what it's used for most of the time), but this is how you do it right; the incident isn't shown, it's implied in how the character acts, the monster, how the character just accepts that this demon is there, and most of all, it respects the people who have lived through it.
Growing up being assaulted, many of us thought that what everyone deals with. Many dont know HOW to speak out about it. We need more resources for children who deal with this.. so we don't grow up broken& incapable of a lasting relationship..Some of us prefer to be alone thru out life, as it feels safer. Others worry they'll repeat this horrific cycle so they don't procreate.. & SO MUCH MORE.. This short truly shows how it feels to fight with your own mind about traumatic events..
I can actually sense how traumatic & extremely horrible it would be for a teenage boy, or any man, to admit being abused by a man. It's terrible as a young person to think people at school, or anyone will find out.
Amazing depiction. We call these ppl monsters, but that is literally what they are to children. They're scary, creepy and they just linger in children's lives. I love the idea that he could only escape the monster by exposing it. Hard topic to touch. Bravo
It is very painful to watch... It's never too late to tell someone about it, regardless how many years has gone past. If it is still a burden, sharing the load is always easier than carrying it alone.
This was so powerful and somehow tackled its subject head on with no fear while also avoiding being exploitative. Great that horror can be used to explore what needs to be explored, huge kudos to the filmmakers for pulling this off. Gonna watch it again. Well done 👏👏👏
Most of us complicated relationships with our inner demons. It feels like the protagonist submits to his trauma, but it's all apart of the process. We agree that it's a genuinely powerful story told through the horror lens that doesn't show suffering as a spectacle. Thanks for watching and making such a thoughtful comment!
Perfect depiction of how trauma stays with you and when you think you might be somewhat coping, it creeps up on you and refuses to let go until you're able to numb yourself from it again. It's always lurking..no matter what you do, it's always there. Some are lucky enough to get passed it but many of us aren't. We stay stagnant with the trauma lurking around the corners of our minds and waiting to pounce yet again.
Such a hauntingly beautiful short. Topics like assault are hard to talk about but should. No one should hav to go through a life like that. Especially children suspectible to it all stripped off innocence and just being a child. Honestly thank u alter ❤
It's really easy to say speak up but it's so sorry so hard. The shame, the guilt a person feels while being the victim, the way the victim thinks everyone going to blame them is so well portrayed here. Thank you Alter.
And that's a lot like reality from being sexually abused as a child feels like even year's and year's later. This is one horror right on the money that yall have shown well. Thanks for such detail and fear brought to the screen so others can get a idea of the pain and never ending terror that sexual abuse does. Great film.
So the boy was sexually abused by his teacher as a child and is obviously left with all kinds of scars emotionally. He still hasn't dealt with the trauma and this is represented by the creature, literally his inner demon. All kinds of pain and fear are brought to the fore after discovering the teacher has recently been arrested and charged for assaulting other pupils. He wants to give evidence himself but is plagued by anxiety and self doubt. This was a very poignant and thought provoking piece showing the effects of sexual violence even long after it occurred, very touching and original. One thing I wasn't sure of though, was the demon his friend protecting him from what it perceived as stressful, harmful or threatening situations? Or was it a parasite feeding off his feelings of dread and inadequacy? He seemed to have to outrun it to try and make the phone call to the police, which in the long run would surely bring closure and perhaps justice.
The monster was his fear, anxiety, shame, all the negative feelings inside. He was used to live like that (hence not surprised or that scared of it), however you can notice that the monster became scarier as he was deciding to make the phonecall and as he finally made it. The more certain he was to make the phone the more "threatening" & scarier was the monster (shame & anxiety escallating until finally making the phonecall)
This videos let me learn 1. always follow the light and leave the dark alone 2. Our future will be light to and don't let the dark take your happiness away 3.keep in mine you'll always be cared and loved! 4. God bless you!
That was honestly beautiful. I never had the opportunity to testify against my abuser. It haunted me most of my life. Even to this day I will have the odd nightmare out of the blue. My husband is always there to remind me that I am safe and loved. This was an amazing short.
This film is simply on another level, with it's refreshing approach and a unique kind of engagement. Without trivialising the deeply disturbing subject, it instead offers a conversation and a spark of hope. As for the sound, it even had my dogs growling, it was so effective. All round excellently polished..eleven out of ten! Luvved it!

omg ,heart breaker , i watched before reading , so it hit me out of the blue , a monster of our own made of guilt shame pain anger . very well done this breaks the heart o any one who knows that monster . made me tear up , movie is very well done
Wow...VERY deep...and VERY dark! He destroyed his own demons in the end by having the courage to stand up and say what happened to him. He created his own demons when he took on shame and guilt that he needn't have felt! But by remaining silent, those feeling grew into a monster he could barely contain anymore. When he picked up the phone and said those words, he took away the demons power over him... Brilliantly done....powerful message! Thank you! 💀👏👍😢
Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep!!! I thought I'd watch this again as I kept running different parts around in my head, this has so much info packed into this story. This will relate so true for certain people. Epic.
Perpetrators are uglier and more frightening than that depicted creature. What they do to the innocence of a child is truly criminal that requires throwing away the key.
Great depiction of that lurking monster of shame pain anger and horror that you get so used to it gets boring..took me till I was in my early 30s before I began to properly deal with it...I'm 50 now and doing fantastic..anyone suffering you seriously not alone be kind to yourself and seek help when you ready the first steps the hardest Monster's love the shadows sooner you shine a light on them the quicker they'll lose their power over you..well that's my experience anyway..Good luck love to you live the life you should have not the life you did have x
I've been lucky. This particular demon does not haunt me, nor am I anyone's demon as defined here. Great expression, this short film; was a bit surprised this became an ALTER title. (I've grown accustomed to lesser moral issues and more elaborate special effects as characteristic of ALTER.) If I had been a victim, or an abuser, maybe I would more easily "identify" with this film. If this cheesy film brought a tear to a viewer's eye because the viewer struggles with the demon as defined here, I sympathize.
that was a pretty savage depiction... i wonder if that intensity is accurate. or for all survivors of sexual abuse. i wonder if some survivors are out there just living their lives, successfully so for some. this was crazy. trippy AND scary. great sound

He created his own demons when he took on shame and guilt that he needn't have felt! But by remaining silent, those feeling grew into a monster he could barely contain anymore. When he picked up the phone and said those words, he took away the demons power over him...
Brilliantly done....powerful message! Thank you! 💀👏👍😢
Horror can be good for the soul, even when it can be difficult to endure.
Truly worth watching and seeing one person stand up to his demon. 10+ !!!!
Epic.
😌👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 bringing secrets 2 lite..TY ALTER & Film crew🙏🏽🦋
Perpetrators are uglier and more frightening than that depicted creature. What they do to the innocence of a child is truly criminal that requires throwing away the key.
So deep and beautiful in such short period of time...so relatable. I teared up of how accurate it is.
Thanks Laura! So glad it resonated with you
Great depiction of that lurking monster of shame pain anger and horror that you get so used to it gets boring..took me till I was in my early 30s before I began to properly deal with it...I'm 50 now and doing fantastic..anyone suffering you seriously not alone be kind to yourself and seek help when you ready the first steps the hardest Monster's love the shadows sooner you shine a light on them the quicker they'll lose their power over you..well that's my experience anyway..Good luck love to you live the life you should have not the life you did have x
I love that sometimes in these videos....its not actual monsters. its man.
Omg made me cry when I realized what is was about.
Omg this is a great jump start to my morning. Thanks ALTER.
Deeeeeeeeeeeeep vibe, very deep. Great tension & anguish throughout, so well made.
This was very powerfully done
Thank you!!!
Certified Gold!!!!!
You know. I completely understand this and that is all I am going to say. For now. Thank you
so the demon was him not wanting to tell what that molester teacher did it to him too and the only way to escape it was to tell right?
Excellent treatment of the subject!
Agreed, Lala. Thinkin alike over here

Another masterpiece by alter😩🤚🏻
That was really good!
Best horror content related channel of UA-cam
that was a pretty savage depiction... i wonder if that intensity is accurate. or for all survivors of sexual abuse. i wonder if some survivors are out there just living their lives, successfully so for some. this was crazy. trippy AND scary. great sound
Well done!
Very creative horror that spreads awareness.
I felt all the FEELS of this movie!
Absolutely brilliant. I'm glad you used a male. It isnt discussed enough.
This stopped being unsettling the moment he acted casual around that thing tbh. What a let down
He had quite a huge burden to bear it seems.
