My ranking of gg (and solo) releases: 1. Stay - Saturday (MY GIRLS!!!! I had basically lost all hope that Saturday would come back, but they did AND the song is good. Special shout-out to the b-side which is my sister's favourite. I'm quite sad that Haneul is gone, but hopefully this new release can mean a new start for Saturday, Covid hit them and their company hard, so hopefully they can get a chance now that sd ent seems to be gone for good.) 2. Summer Comes - Oh My Girl (Literally two of my favourite groups ever had a comeback at the same time, I about died of happiness. Real Love was disappointing, but Summer Comes was much better. Hopefully we'll be able to keep getting atleast 1 comeback a year from them! I just need one of my ults to do well!) 3. My Color - Ily:1 (Ily:1 keeps giving us the best concept with great songs, they are one of my favourite 4th gen groups and I'm very happy that they do this concept rather than trying to follow the trends.) 4. Cool With You (Newjeans giving us multiple songs and mvs are nice, but their songs are quite short. This time I liked Cool With You and also ASAP. ETA is fine, whilst Super Shy can be both fun and annoying depending on the day. Also I refuse to call Get Up a song, it is way too short!) 5. Shhh - Kiss of Life (Goodbye My Neverland is my favourite release from their debut, but the title track is also pretty good. The choreo is super fun and brings a lot to the song.) 6. Aloha - Soyou ft. Bora (I did not think I would love this song as I usually don't care for Soyou too much, but this song is a BOP! Also I love Bora's rap part. This song is pure SUMMER FUN!) 7. Twenty - Swan (It's nice, her voice is still everything, but I wish it could have been a bit more dark or moody as her voice fits that concept sooo well!) 8. Party O'Clock - Nmixx (I feel so alone in liking Party O'Clock more than Rollercoaster, can't really explain it. It's not better than Love Me Like This nor Dice, but it's pretty cute) 9. Rollercoaster - Nmixx (It's cute and nice, nothing special) 10. Air Force One - Odd Eye Circle (I was never a huge loona fan, but I am happy to see that the members got away from bbc and that they are able to release new music. Odd Eye Circle was and is an awesome sub-unit, so good that they went to the same company! The song is far from their best, but it is a vibe.) 11. ETA - Newjeans (It's fun, though the mv gives me some anxiety, idk why. So prob won't watch that one too much, lol.) 12. Un-Normal - Queenz Eye (I don't remember their debut song, but this one if pretty nice, it's a bit hip-hop which I enjoy.) 13. Festival - Sandara Park ft. Uhm Jung Hwa (The song is legendary and Sandara Park is awesome, but I would have hoped for something more/different. Hopefully this is just the start and we'll get more songs soon.) 14. Kick-Start - Ichillin' (I want to like Ichillin' so badly, but they just never give me what I need. Please, I just want to like you!) 15. None of My Business - Itzy (It's fine, I guess. Doesn't give us much. I wish we could get more songs like LOCO or maybe Cheshire.) 16. Cake - Itzy (My sister listened to this one before me, and she told me that the "Cake cake cake cake cake" part sounded a lot like someone repeating the letter k 5 times and now I cannot unhear it....) 17. This Love - Hyolyn ft. Paul Blanco (I just don't care for Hyolyn, idk why. She does have some okay songs, but I largely just ignore her since I don't like her.) Overall not the best nor the worst. Top 5/6 is the best and top 12 are the songs I enjoyed.
Here's my review of everything in order of release date (so no spoilers): Swan released a solo song and I just love her voice. She's definitely one of the best singers in the industry. Nmixx finally did it, they released a song I liked. I knew they had it in them. Rollercoaster is fantastic! Teen Top, one of my favorite boy groups ever, is back! This song is so much fun, welcome back! Kiss of Life are probably going to be one of my favorite groups of their gen. They offer something really unique and they're very vocally talented. Queenz Eye impressed me with this comeback. It gives me Uh-Oh by (G)i-dle vibes. It's chill and I like it. EXO were a little disappointing. They're vocally amazing and it's visually cool, but the lyrics are super lame I can't help but cringe. Like they're trying to be cool but they're singing "I need ya cream soda." No good! Zerobaseone wow! This is one of the best boy group songs I've heard in a long time. I had low expectations cause boy groups have been not very good lately but I love this song. Nmixx's other song is also really good. It reminds me of something Twice would release. Sandara Park made her long-awaited solo debut. It's actually a remake of an Uhm Jung Hwa song (she's not even the first former girl group member to cover one of her songs for a debut so that's interesting). It's fun and colorful and cute. She's also a vampire. Odd Eye Circle, I never thought I'd see them make a comeback. They're my favorite LOONA sub-unit so I was super happy to see them back and they didn't disappoint. Hyolyn collaborated with Paul Blanco. She is just one of the most talented in the industry. NCT Dream is back. This song was almost super good but the bridge is TERRIBLE. It honestly ruins the song for me. It's so clunky and doesn't match at all, such lazy songwriting. NewJeans released tons of songs this month. I'm kinda getting less and less into them. Now I really liked ETA and Cool with you was alright but everything else isn't my cup of tea. For one thing, their songs are super short. And also, they just kinda feel like run-on sentences. Super Shy actually annoys me when I hear it. Ichillin are doing that Avril Lavigne type sound that got pretty popular. I think it is their best song this year. Mirae are pretty good. I don't think they'll ever surpass Marvelous, but this was a better than average boy group summer song. Itzy were disappointing this month. I feel like the vocals for their releases this month are...off. Oh My Girl! FINALLY! It has been too long, especially since their previous comeback was underwhelming. Saturday were a little disappointing. I mean I'm happy to see them back, I thought they were gone for good. But I don't really like the song. ILY:1 are like a 3rd gen cute group lost in the 4th/5th gen it's kinda funny. I miss this sound though so I'll accept it no problem. Shownu X Hyungwon were decent, I just didn't really listen to this song much. The Wind are very youthful and refreshing. The song is nice and summery. Soyou is under Viviz and Ren's label now. They just go after all the former group members and help push their solo careers don't they? Very Sistar sounding. First we had Hyolyn X Dasom now we have Soyou X Bora. Treasure's new song had potential to be great, but it's just kinda a mess. I love the set, reminds me of the 2nd gen. Each part individually is good but together it doesn't flow at all. Infinite are finally back! I love all these old groups returning. This song is AMAZING but WAY TOO SHORT! Curse tik tok and their negative impact on the music industry causing Infinite's grand return to be under 3 minutes. Itzy didnt close off the month hot. Cake is annoying although I think it's growing on me. This month started out pretty good, but ended badly. Better than last month but still, but nothing super mind-blowingly good.
