Most of Mokaev's wins are against unranked competition. Erceg was thrown into the deep end from day one when he was given a top ten opponent on a few days notice before he was even signed, and he made it look easy.
Both guys are 2-0 against top ten competition, and their combined opponents' record against the current top ten are 0-6 and 0-7, respectively. That shows that they aren't fighting guys on Pantoja's level, but the champ has beaten everyone else.
How do you separate them? Mokaev got a late sub against 36-year-old Elliott when he was down 2-0 on the scorecards and won a close boring decision against Perez. Erceg dominated Dvorak to the extent that he got a performance bonus for a decision win, and highlight KOd Schnell for yet another performance bonus. Mokaev has shown he's worthy of being in the top ten, but Erceg has shown he's above the top ten. He's getting the title shot because he's the most deserving contender.
He’s still number 10 and mokaev is like 7 and it’s one bad performance I swear mma fans have dementia or something one bad performance and they forget about all the good ones his next win everyone is going switch up again and call him good
@@magnusisperceg beat #10 in his debut but got ranked #15 which is crazy 😂. He should been ranked above Mokaev from the start. Mokaev honestly got lucky the judges gave him round 3 vs Perez because he got outstruck and kept failing takedown attempts and just holding Perez’s leg with a knee of the ground

@@magnusisp Dan Henderson vs Bisping is the worst I can think of rn. Yoel vs Izzy. Colby getting the title shot vs Leon was also worse honestly. Honestly there’s probably more. Also Pantoja has beaten a decent amount of the top guys already.
@@highmind4960 yeah but I think this is the most undeserving ranking wise in recent memory and what makes this undeserving is because there are a lot of contenders above Steve erceg like mokaev albazi and kape but they gave it to the number 10 ranked guy I think the lowest rank challenger ever was al iaquinta who came in on short notice so it doesn’t really count

The most undeserved title shot of all time is Andre Pedeneiras vs. the welterweight champ Pat Miletich. Andre was 1-0 at the time.

It’s pretty obvious what’s going on. Australia don’t have a champ at the moment. UFC Perth is booked for August. They are scrambling for a Main event for Perth and now Della broke his arm. If it’s a split decision it will go Steves way. Rematch will be Perth headliner
Also they’re just giving more chances to lower ranked fighters now with bsd now erceg and movsar might get the next title shot I think they’re trying to push for more stars

@@magnusisp None of the people you just mentioned had a solid win lol, Kape was coming off going life and death with Felipe dos santos and missing weight. Albazi robbed KKF and was injured while Mokaev could’ve gotten it had he finished Perez. Meanwhile Erceg beat 2 top 10 opponents one by finish. Schnell isn’t far behind Perez as a win.
Also, hendo was #14 at the time Bisping fought him. Yoel Romero was off a win over Jacare Souza and Lyoto Machida on a 6 fight winning streak. You could even give it to Rockhold for a trilogy or Gegard Mousasi who had a win over Dan Henderson already. Henderson’s only win was over Hector Lombard to get a fucking title shot and he retired right after the Bisping fight.
