i'm an Appalachian, i live in eastern KY in the mountains. very similar to the parts of TN and NC that got hit. we have hollers here too, and very rural isolated little communities tucked up in the hills. i think none of us are surprised at the lackluster response from the feds. i'm just grateful the hillfolk step up and take care of their own, and the military guys, churches and NGO's that are actually operating in the area and actually helping people. i see the Cajun navy all over the place, Samaritan's Purse, there's a few. thank god for them. we'd be on our own if it weren't for these people pitching in. Appalachia is pretty familiar with having to fend for ourselves, but its still just jarring to see. god bless the people that are still dealing with the aftermath of all these storms. i fear this is going to be a more and more common thing in this neck of the woods.

A person flies their own helicopter costing them over 900 a hour to give free food, water, etc, without you having to fill out a form. Someone Is getting paid to says I can give you 700 dollars but you need to fill out a form so we might approve you to get the money. Who cares? Who do you trust? Who has you well being in mind? Trust is earned!

And we are trying to help them and no government official is going to tell other American citizens that they can't help other American citizens.

Poor people losing homes and lives is just as tragic as wealthy people. I live in a rural area. We have rich and poor living right next door to each other. Some have ranches (which are expensive to run), and some have little houses they inherited from their grandparents. We all care about each other THE SAME. We help each other THE SAME. We celebrate and mourn for each other THE SAME. We go to church and potlucks THE SAME. We are neighbors and a true community. Money does not divide us.

It was right on top of Cancun and they didn't seem to care at all about the 180 mile winds on that coast for some reason, just predicting a storm they are trying to create a CAT 6 for because they said it is "exceeding mathematics". Watch for the giant turqouise sky flashes much bigger than a transformer blowing....we tend to see them for big hurricanes and giant earthquakes.

Are you sure? To buy gas you have to be part of the recovery effort. This is being tracked at the airports who sell the gas.
