Nice place, but everywhere seems gridlocked with traffic these days. I've also looked at the crime stats for Abergavenny, Monmouth and Chepstow and they seen surprisingly high, particularly Abergavenny which appears to have a lot of violent crime. Per head of population, looking at similar towns/populations in other UK areas, the areas mentioned really do very badly in comparison on all crime stats.
Was Monmouth once called Monmouthshire? I found my great aunt's diary and just found out that my great great grandpa was born there. Her diary says it was England though. What I'm reading is that it was England but at some point went to Wales. Love history ♥
There was always controversy over whether Monmouthshire was in England or Wales following the annexation of Wales to England. Some people there considered themselves English, a lot thought that it had just been stolen from Wales and should be given back. Most people there identify as being Welsh today.
I was there during the same month and year. Please leave this video up, I am not sure that I will get a chance to go back again. I will try
I'll tell you a fact Henry the fifth was born in Monmouth
Miss Monmouth. My parents are buried there.
