- While the idea of your pet being under anesthesia can be stressful, rest assured that the care and well-being of your pet is the first thing on your veterinarian’s mind. In this video, Dr. Jusmeen Sarkar explains the ins and outs of anesthesia and your pets.
These videos are so helpful for future veterinarians like me.
Nice job. Jusmeen! Something I will certainly use in private practice.
this helped... thank you
My dog is 13 going on 14 with mitral valve of his heart. He needs dental work but so worried. He had a recent echo and I was told that he'd have the green light for this procedure but idk so worried.
How did the procedure go for your dog? My shih tzu is 12 and has a degenerative valve dse. They did an EKG last August 31, 2023 and they gave him a green light for the dental procedure on Nov. 2nd
My Italian Greyhound is due for a Dental Cleaning.
Because of their very lean muscle and low body Fat 'Sight Hounds' as my little Italian Greyhound require special Anesthesia and cautions.
I've read there are only two approved Pre-Anesthetic/Induction and the Anesthesia that can be used on Sight Hounds...and many Vets don't use them!
I'm getting too many mixed signals from Vets that have concerned.
Honestly, I don't know who to trust with my 14 pound Italian Greyhound.
My dog died during a dental procedure while under anesthesia. His physical exam, blood work, ECG, everything was normal. He was only 3yrs old..
OMG I am so sorry! We have a dental tomorrow and I am freaking out. I can’t imagine the loss you’ve endured. What happened? Was the vet at fault?
@@Cheese-Headwas your dog ok?..
@@user-pz5ni8vq9r I was too worried and cancelled the appointment. I ordered the metal scraper off Amazon and cleaned his teeth the best I could myself, one tooth at a time. Took awhile to get thru but he let me. There are vets that clean teeth without putting the dog under sedation.
My 12 y/o chihuahua has mitral valve prolapse B2 and is diabetic. He also is treated with Vetmedin, Elanapril and Amlodipine for hypertension. He has developed cataracts and we would like to have them removed. The vets told us it would be risky but I still can't make an informed decision whether he can undergo surgery. Would it be too risky to anesthetize him? Elizabeth Boyd
My dogs getting neutered tomorrow and I'm scared for this reason :(
