Beautiful photos and a well-paced video.
With age, my motivation to do photography has diminished. So I simplified my photo equipment and no longer plan to equip myself with lenses or cameras that become obsolete very quickly (I kept my R6 and sold my R7 that I did not like...). My FD 50mm F/3.5 from 1976 came out of its retirement and replaced my 50mm 1.8 stm. Taking advantage of the autumn colors with the macro capacity of my FD 50 is motivating. Thank you for offering us such videos without racing for clicks as soon as new equipment is released.

    The good ol' "Nifty Fifty"
Foggy days are my favourite conditions, makes "boring" scenes somehow more interesting.

Definitely! I love it too. I think it may be my favourite conditions.. although snow is up there as well.

Hi Paul, if the colours are not showing as viewed check your white balance, the shade and cloud options warm the colours up. The other option is to set a manual white balance on site.

Very interesting and helpful video, Paul. I wasn't going to watch, to be honest, because I like to do bird and wildlife photography above all else and am hopeless at finding attractive subjects or views to photograph. I just don't seem to have an eye for that! - but spider's webs and berries do make for some gorgeous images, so I hope I have learned some tips from watching this and I'll have a go at it! I always have a long lens on though (I don't have any others!) so might get different results!?

Hi Paul, don't you have a RF mount lens yet ? for this kind of photography as in your video, i recently bought the Sigma 18-50mm F/2.8 DC DN, it's a great walk-around lens on my R7 APS-C, i know you use a R6 full frame, but don't you want an RF lens ? 🍻

I don't do much of this photography really, but yes I will probably get the RF version lens.

Did you shoot the spiderwebs at f4 rather than closer to f1.8 for the extra depth of field?

Kind of. I felt it was a bit of a compromise and would look ok. With more time I would have explored a wider aperture - that's sometimes the thing with filming, I wanted to get enough variety for the video. Ultimately I wanted to inspire newer photographers to have a go!
