It’s such a normal part of existence for me I never thought of how interesting or new this would be to people

No U-Turn? 😨😨😨
I enjoyed this. I felt like I was there. Thanks!
Is there a place to pull over if your car breaks down? Traffic would be backed up for miles. How in the world would you get a tow truck in there?
@@martilondot3559 there is no U turn, but there is emergency pull off parts on the bridge. Not in the tunnel though
I did this once to avoid I-95 through Richmond/Washington. What an awesome ride!
You did a very smart choice there. You not only beat the Richmond & Washington, DC area, but you missed that I-95 parking lot & the Washington Beltway which is a parking lot.
That was a pleasant ride along! What a beautiful place out there!
It really is nice. Matt (my son) and I were heading up to NJ. so we took that route and it was nice always so I wanted to share it to everyone because many have never got to see.
We will definitely add this to our trip north next time. An experience not to be missed. Great video
Brings back memories of when I was stationed in Norfolk Navy base, and driving back home to NY to visit family
My father was Station at the Norfolk Naval Base. I went to college in the area. I haven't been back since I left from school. I left the area in 1994.
I used to ride the Servicemen’s Greyhound Express on Friday’s to New Castle, DE on Fridays or would carpoo with some fellow sailors who were going to New Castle, Wilmington, DE or Philadelhia or the greater New York City metro area between 10/20/1972 & 7/31/1974 when I was stationed aboard the USS Seattle AOE-3. We were weekend commuters.
Hi can you tell me ? Are there two bridges ? Shiple shoan and chespeak ? And Hampton ? Is it another tunnel under the ocean ?
@@venusfuentes6810 The Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel is 8 bridges & 2 tunnels at the present time. The second Thimble Shoal Channel Tunnel is presently under construction & it wil be opened to traffic in very late 2022/early 2023. In 2023 the second Chesapeake Channel Tunnel construction will begin & it will be finished by 2028 & by then it will be 4 lanes across the Chesapeake Bay.
Great video, brings back memories when I was a weekend commuter in my very earliest Navy days when I was stationed on board the USS Seattle AOE-3 which was homeported in Norfolk, VA. I would ride North on it Fridays & South on Sunday nights, sometimes Monday nights if is was a holiday. I rode on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel a total of 34 times between 10/20/1972 & u/31/1974.
Old school college days - taking this bridge to Norfolk State University was fantastic
It’s amazing the engineering and the shear amount of know how that made this come together, I’ve heard stories of this but getting to watch a drive through of it made my day. Also the music was awesome!
thank you so much for the kind comment. It really is amazing to drive it....
Much better than driving the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in Maryland!
Thank you Sir.
Wow I posted this so long ago I'm glad you enjoyed it
The video quality is clean and good.
I have memories of driving along this route during my trip to the US in June 2016, and seeing the video makes me feel new~.^^
Yes I love driving this....So fun
You make some great vids. Especially like your ship ones, keep it up!
I appreciate your comment. I try to share my working on the ships and when home everything my son and I do because we re always on the go. If I can get better as I go and people enjoy it that's a great thing. I will be back on the ship in October until December then back for holiday so I will vlog more from there then....Thank you again...
Very nice. I remember the 1st time i crossed this bridge back in the day. The wind was coming off the water something wicked but i had an 87 SAAB TURBO. HEAVY CAR.
Sounds crazy, lol. I liked when they had the restaurant on the crossing.
I wish when I went over CBBT that the my film turned out so well...thanks for sharing!
I remember when I first crossed the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and tunnel ( it was about 25 years ago), it was at night time and you couldn’t see the water because it was to dark. But then when it was time to go back home we crossed during the daylight hours, and I was shocked 😳 at how much water it was that we crossed. Because that was the longest bridge and the most water I’ve ever seen crossing one. Of course it’s the Atlantic Ocean so there would be lots of water. And I saw a lot of ships and Navy vessels out in the water. I was fascinated and scared at the same time, hoping we’d make it across safely. Now whenever I go to Virginia Beach I love it. Except for the tunnels, they seem kind of scary. It looks like the big trucks just barely make it.
I panicked at night and it looked like the water was up to the bridge rd...horrible,never again
Thank you my first time going over the bridge in a few days had a little bit of anxiety
I like the video.
Yes it is a fun bridge tunnel system too cross and very scenic.
Very Nicely done and good choice of music
Thanks so much and with music it is impossible to please everyone so I use things I like
@@JeffOnboard I like your choices of music in general. Could you list the songs, though?
@@JeffOnboard I like your choice of music. Could you list the names of the songs, though?
@@davidschick6951 The first song is Faded by Alan Walker.
How slow are you going? Why is everyone passing you? I've seen other videos where they've crossed the bridge in 10 minutes your video is 22 minutes... it took them 1.5 minutes under water
I went a little slower to make the video but 17 miles in 10 minutes is insane, lol....Maybe they did not show complete as I did as well and on UA-cam many took my footage I was notified in making of videos. This video showed a Complete crossing. Impossible in 10 minutes.
I need to experience this
Yes, it is awesome. If you get a chance do it for sure
Its kinda like the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway only with a tunnel.
Yes I remember that many years ago when I was on my way to Covington, Louisiana.
Thank you very much, very beautiful display of money well spent. God Bless America.
Thank you John...It really is amazing and does make it easy to get to Maryland from my location...
Yes and God bless us all
I used to cross that body of water on a ferry and a tractor and trailer at that time there was no bridge tunnel at all late 50s early 60s
It is really a time saver for sure
This reminds me of the one from San Francisco to Honolulu, but a lot shorter.
Lol
You really need to get an EZPass
Was that a ship I saw just before going into the second tunnel?
looks like fishing pier was closed there, i used to fish there when i lived in Va Bch
Yes and remember there was a restaurant too and shop.... I liked that....All gone.... I live in VA, Beach but I am originally from Baltimore.
you mean , fishing pier is gone for good
I did not see the pier no all gone looks like as you said, but I mean in addition the restaurant/gift shop that was there before also gone....I wish it was there till.
I believe they removed it to make way for the new side of the tunnel they are working on I could be wrong though
Oh thanks for the info I will check also and post what I find out
I want to drive that... end to end. Maybe someday if I can put the money together. I do love tunnels but we don't have them in Iowa.
Wow I do it all the time and it never occurred to me that people might just wanna drive it for fun. it goes on for like EVERRRRE
it usually takes 22 minuts driving?
We have nothing like this in montana
No, but you have beautiful scenery
Does anyone know why they build tunnels and not one big bridge?
Yes, I do after I looked it up.
Naval base in Hampton Roads. If in war a bridge gets destroyed it could cutoff naval and commercial vessels. A destroyed tunnel won't
My container ship i work on we still over it a couple times each month
I clicked here to see how much. When I was there 30 years ago the cost was $10.
I remember as low as I think $12 and a free Pepsi® at the then restaurant on the crossing. Much better then.
I have dashcam footage of that going to Maryland and back from last year but was too lazy to do anything with it lol. But anyways great video, shows clearly that we live on a Flat Plane, no curvature in sight plus the bridge is in a straight line pretty much lol
Thanks for watching and your comment. If you ever get your footage you shot please share so we can see it too ok. You could link us from here. Love to see your video if you ever put it up.

Wondering where all toll money goes?
I think they use it to pay politicians?
Go
To pay back the loans that funded the construction I believe.
The music is god awful. Sounds like someone projectile vomiting.
Please don’t use Alvin and the chipmunks!
Everyone likes different music. Impossible to please everyone. If I used music you love others may reply the same as you have. Know what I mean....
Nice video but the music gots to go....
lol....next time none promise, haha
Not diggin music at all!
I had to turn the music off to watch the otherwise nice video.
Da!
Good video, terrible music and too loud.
First few minutes was a waste of time and the music sucked.
Your opinion. I intended to show a complete crossing....That was the purpose of this video. Thank you for your opinion though, but no need to be rude in doing so....
Well, to state the original posters commrnt politely (and o. M u could do a favor by being polite) the music did seem not that good
