    Aworesome, aworesome video. I got ankle fracture and on Rehab right now. When i tired to follow the video, i manager to walk better with my foot on ground. Before my heel and toes were not connecting, used my heel more. But now i see a big change. Thank you Dan Popen and God Bless.
    You made my day!

    Hi Dan, the plates on the toes/midfoot. Obviously this puts the ankle into more plantar flexion (I think)...what does this help with/do please? Sorry if this is a stupid question

    • @fitnesspainfree
      @fitnesspainfree  6 років тому +1

      Todd Davidson plates lift the ankle enough to get into a proper squat and learn what a more upright squat feels like if you’re lacking ankle mobility. I’d still try to pull the knees forward and bend the ankles maximally in this drill.

    How many sets and reps should I preform?

    • @fitnesspainfree
      @fitnesspainfree  6 років тому +1

      I'd start with 60 seconds foam rolling, 60 seconds of a stretch 5x per week.

    My ankles are trashed, including my calves (solid rocks of nots), I'm going to try this out a few times this week. However I do have a question about the constant bouncing. I thought that was a bad thing to do with stretching?

    • @fitnesspainfree
      @fitnesspainfree  9 років тому +2

      The bouncing is for ankle joint mobilization. If you're limited by a muscular limitation then soft tissue work and holding a stretch is probably a more effective exercise for you..

    • @fitnesspainfree
      @fitnesspainfree  6 років тому +1

      What do you mean by blow up? It's too intense?

    • @FalconFordXR
      @FalconFordXR 6 років тому

      Dan Pope I mean swell up. My feet have some serious issues.

    • @fitnesspainfree
      @fitnesspainfree  6 років тому

      Ya, probably wouldn't do these then. Have you visited a doc?

    • @FalconFordXR
      @FalconFordXR 6 років тому

      Dan Pope Yep. They say everything looks all good but I know its not. My feet usually stay tight and painful or even swell up after a run.

    • @fitnesspainfree
      @fitnesspainfree  6 років тому

      What was the initial injury? You had an MRI? Just swells after use? Any history of multiple ankle inversion sprains?

  • @LoganTheGeeRaff
    @LoganTheGeeRaff 8 років тому +1

    I sprained my ankle a few days ago, it's really not bad but I do not want lose my mobility . I had and still have even
    Pretty good mobility

    • @fitnesspainfree
      @fitnesspainfree  8 років тому

      A big issue with ankle sprain is losing motion afterwards. I'd get your ankle checked by a doc for the greenlight to start working mobility again but ya it's important.

    • @LoganTheGeeRaff
      @LoganTheGeeRaff 8 років тому

      +Dan Pope yeah my ankle is not needed for a check up in my humble opinion . But is healing nicely . I basically started doing ankle circles as soon as I it happened , and then when it got better I did them a lot . I can still do a proper squat ass to grass , so that's all I was worried is about not being able to do :p of course the extra little movements like if you're walking on slightly uneven grass or a hill might take some more time to be able to go back to normal. With do time . Thanks for your comment (:

  • @502jackal

    due to some past ankle issues recently flaring up it hurts stretches in this vid for me to let my foot go upward (toes toward the shin) like some of the stretches in this video. do these help out with reducing the pain or just help increase mobility? thanks.

    • @fitnesspainfree
      @fitnesspainfree  8 років тому

      +Drake Knight-Graves I'd get your ankle checked out by a doc before pushing into pain

    • @502jackal
      @502jackal 8 років тому

      i have. they say to treat it like a sprain. RICE method stuff. it does kill the pain but it doesn't fix flexibility and mobility. im just trying to see if i can get more range in motion back.

    so what can i do if my feet do not flex upward at all like absolutely not at all

    • @fitnesspainfree
      @fitnesspainfree  8 років тому

      Might have a mobility issue, try these out.

    • @Friedrich-Wilhelm-1980
      @Friedrich-Wilhelm-1980 8 років тому

      Dan Pope well i was born with short achilles tendons so i walk on the ball of my foot and i'm extremely over weight so my calf muscles are huge and vary stiff even tho i am still athletic BUT quick maneuvers tend to stress the tendons in my foot and cause fractures
      i feel its from a lack of flexibility in my foot like a stiff boot you just walk on it in a static position
      but the pain some times is on the level of a broken bone

    You've got to be really careful if you have plantar fasciitis in doing the second set of exercises while squatting. It could hurt your fascia again easily.

    • @fitnesspainfree
      @fitnesspainfree  8 років тому +1

      I wouldn't try any of these exercises if you're in pain without a qualified professional giving you the green light first.

    • @BillHesse
      @BillHesse 9 років тому

      Yes, on my right leg only haha. If I aggressively stretch my left ankle prior I can pull it off with the skin of my teeth. Patience and dedication are required for those of use not born with flexible joints.

    • @BillHesse
      @BillHesse 9 років тому

      Do you have a good warm up? Getting enough movement to get your legs mildly fatigued followed with some contract relax stretching and then practice of the movement might help with the stiffness, but this is Dan's channel.
