Great tips, I have some trouble with ankle mobility and it's affecting my squats, will incorporate some of these exercises into my daily routine! Thanks a bunch!
Aworesome, aworesome video. I got ankle fracture and on Rehab right now. When i tired to follow the video, i manager to walk better with my foot on ground. Before my heel and toes were not connecting, used my heel more. But now i see a big change. Thank you Dan Popen and God Bless. You made my day!
Hi Dan, the plates on the toes/midfoot. Obviously this puts the ankle into more plantar flexion (I think)...what does this help with/do please? Sorry if this is a stupid question
Todd Davidson plates lift the ankle enough to get into a proper squat and learn what a more upright squat feels like if you’re lacking ankle mobility. I’d still try to pull the knees forward and bend the ankles maximally in this drill.
My ankles are trashed, including my calves (solid rocks of nots), I'm going to try this out a few times this week. However I do have a question about the constant bouncing. I thought that was a bad thing to do with stretching?
The bouncing is for ankle joint mobilization. If you're limited by a muscular limitation then soft tissue work and holding a stretch is probably a more effective exercise for you..
A big issue with ankle sprain is losing motion afterwards. I'd get your ankle checked by a doc for the greenlight to start working mobility again but ya it's important.
+Dan Pope yeah my ankle is not needed for a check up in my humble opinion . But is healing nicely . I basically started doing ankle circles as soon as I it happened , and then when it got better I did them a lot . I can still do a proper squat ass to grass , so that's all I was worried is about not being able to do :p of course the extra little movements like if you're walking on slightly uneven grass or a hill might take some more time to be able to go back to normal. With do time . Thanks for your comment (:
due to some past ankle issues recently flaring up it hurts stretches in this vid for me to let my foot go upward (toes toward the shin) like some of the stretches in this video. do these help out with reducing the pain or just help increase mobility? thanks.
i have. they say to treat it like a sprain. RICE method stuff. it does kill the pain but it doesn't fix flexibility and mobility. im just trying to see if i can get more range in motion back.
Dan Pope well i was born with short achilles tendons so i walk on the ball of my foot and i'm extremely over weight so my calf muscles are huge and vary stiff even tho i am still athletic BUT quick maneuvers tend to stress the tendons in my foot and cause fractures i feel its from a lack of flexibility in my foot like a stiff boot you just walk on it in a static position but the pain some times is on the level of a broken bone
You've got to be really careful if you have plantar fasciitis in doing the second set of exercises while squatting. It could hurt your fascia again easily.
Yes, on my right leg only haha. If I aggressively stretch my left ankle prior I can pull it off with the skin of my teeth. Patience and dedication are required for those of use not born with flexible joints.
Do you have a good warm up? Getting enough movement to get your legs mildly fatigued followed with some contract relax stretching and then practice of the movement might help with the stiffness, but this is Dan's channel.
this is how videos should be made. cuts down on time and unnecessary explanations
+Emir Catovic Thank you
and salsa background music
Most practical mobility channel on the interwebs.
Thanks sir

Perfect. Just what I was looking for. Efficient and to the point!
Thank you

You made my day!
Thanks Sidy
the background music is giving me mobility HAHAHA great vid btw
hahah
Cheers mate. Short, informative, no nonsense!
Thanks for this! Weightlifting coach says I need to work on my ankle mobility
Thanks. Need ankle flexibility for deadlift.
What deadlift variant? Normally ankle mobility doesn't hinder deadlifting
Love the video. Straight to the point and no added bullshit!
Great exercises!
Thank you
Great achilles and whole leg stretch
Thanks Sidy
I´m gonan do this , i need it so much, thanks a lot
Awesome videos man I can definitely use these mobility exercises thanks
of course
Wow! Great video
Great helpful video. Can you do one on foot and toe exercises? Many thanks!
I'll put it on my list of things to do!
love the background music
using alot of these before squats
helps alot since i got some problems going deep due to these massive femurs of mine
good news
What song is that guitar opening from? Sounds familiar but can't put my finger on it...
Hope this helps, I'm into calisthenics and can't even do a bodyweight squat without falling on my ass because of my ankles.
Keep working and let me know your progress.
Considering that he posted that 2 years ago, I'm pretty sure he can body squat perfectly by now.
Sameee
He ded.
how often should we do this

Does it help?
can't do barbell squat without falling back so hope it helps
These certainly can help if you've got some ankle mobility issues. Give it a shot and then report back to me.
Any results?
Whats the first that comes on befor the work out
How many sets and reps should I preform?
I'd start with 60 seconds foam rolling, 60 seconds of a stretch 5x per week.
Thank you sir and do you think being flat footed is the reason you might be unbalanced and uncoordinated?

yes sir
Is this background music from Tropico 5? I feel like it is and I wanna play that game right now...
What's the name of the exercise at 1:15, is there any study proving that it fill reinforce ROM? :)
you know he means business with those socks!
hahah
😂
I've been working on my flexion for about a month and I just don't feel like it's improving😤 any tips?
I wont be able to do some of those without my ankles blowing up on me. What can I do to build up to being able to do those exercises
What do you mean by blow up? It's too intense?
Dan Pope I mean swell up. My feet have some serious issues.
Ya, probably wouldn't do these then. Have you visited a doc?
Dan Pope Yep. They say everything looks all good but I know its not. My feet usually stay tight and painful or even swell up after a run.
What was the initial injury? You had an MRI? Just swells after use? Any history of multiple ankle inversion sprains?
I sprained my ankle a few days ago, it's really not bad but I do not want lose my mobility . I had and still have even
Pretty good mobility

Gosh I so badly want to be able to do this
Haha! Stiff ankles?
time to incorporate this.
Great stretch & video! Now where did I set my margarita...
Lol!

+Barbell Bosses thank you
so what can i do if my feet do not flex upward at all like absolutely not at all
Might have a mobility issue, try these out.

sick music

I wouldn't try any of these exercises if you're in pain without a qualified professional giving you the green light first.
Some day I will be a real boy and pistol squat without shoes!
Bill Hesse same reason im here , except i cant do them shoes or no shoes

damn, seeing this I realise, hiw fucked up my ankles are 😂
JEBIGA JOHNNY i feel like people that can squat ankles are fucked up, it looks so unnatural.
