Would you do a video where you discuss what those plugs might be used for in a hybrid pan I’ve had one for about a decade now and have yet to use it always interested in learning a new way to make the process easier though

Thanks always wanted to see how that was done. Maybe you can do one on when to clean pan and procedure.

Our wood fired evaporators process 6 gallons per hour per square foot of pans. So, our 3'x12' Silverplate will evaporate about 220 gallons per hour.

@@SmokyLakeMaple With my small brothers I’m doing probably 120 gallons an hour that would be a great improvement That will save me lotta time my arch does not have a blower

Are there any drawbacks to SSR? Why wouldnt EVERYONE have it? And even with it, eventually you'll need to drain the pan and remove the sand cake directly.

No real drawbacks to SSR (Same Side Reverse) systems, other than maybe cost. You can see it would have saved a bunch of time here. However, it's worth considering that the cost for the SSR system could go a long ways toward a second standard front pan, giving the operator a spare to rotate in.
If I were to configure my own evaporator to run the rest of my life, it would be an SSR.

Question Jim. On my 3 x 12 Silverplate SSR my reversing procedure is done after every boil. I switch during the shut down procedure so the rich sap is able to move under low heat.
🍁My question is what position is the lever placed to stop flow from the front pan float box if I were to replace a pan? I see there is a pin on the valve that won’t allow to shut the flow.
