I recently purchased a new '23 C8 Z51 and I saw that Kooks headers actually lose HP compared to the stock exhaust manifolds due to the restrictive 2.5" flange outlet. The better choices are ARH and aFe with 2.875" & 2.75" outlets respectively. So it looks like ARH for the win!

I believe you are correct. If you look at the stock tube headers compared to any aftermarket header there is very little difference. The Hi-Flow Cats and the exhaust system is where the real sound increase is coming from. I have a new C8 and I have on order the same Kooks Cats but a Borla Atak exhaust system on the way. I don't see any need to swap out the stock tube headers. These guys do it because they get them for free for the advertising. My system will sound just as bad-ass.... Without swapping out the stock headers.
@@DaveGee0 Currently I'm running my C8 with fabspeed cat bypass pipes, and stock headers and stock exhaust (z51). It's loud AF when full throttle. But still quiet at idle speeds. And very quiet in Tour mode. I plan to get an exhaust system, although not sure which since the vast majority of videos are only with exhaust (stock cats). I want an exotic/higher pitch sound, kindof like my C7Z06.
@@vhayne91777 any thrown codes with the cat bypass? My c8 is coming soon and it has the z51 exhaust. At some point I know I’ll want a louder exhaust. Also, did you get new exhaust since then?

I'm doing a header/sport cat combo with 2m fabrication on my C8. Your combo with kooks sound amazing. Any experience with 2m? I haven't seen many reviews.
@@speedsociety kind of figured, seemed a bit excessive but I guess being that the engine bay is visible its more noticeable then one would see with a front engine vehicle :P
It's really a shame that kooks headers sound so good but consistently deliver negative performance gains on multiple dynos from different companies . They were my go to for my c7, hopefully they get it figured out by the time my 2023 comes in.

Agreed on ARH & aFe being the better choices vs. Kooks on the C8. I personally run aFe headers + Corsa cats.

Brand new headers have a coating that burns off in the first drive/startup as they heat up, totally normal

I think it was coming from the outside (mic above exhaust tips). It's a little deceptive if you ask me.

Quick correction, Kooks cats are actually 400-cell. GESi G-Sport GEN2 S-Wound cores to be exact. Same as Corsa's C8 high-flow sport cats.
I ordered the kooks headers with the corsa high flow cats. You think this setup would be a problem?

@@yujiechen239 No sir, they'll be a good pairing. Both use the same GESi core. I personally run the Corsa cats too, 2+ years and no CEL or issues!

New headers, so they were burning off some of the coating from manufacturing. Happens with every new set of headers!
