Yo DK! If you plan on getting some rooftop crossbars for the new van, Yakima makes a 'Slim Shady' retractable awning system that you can mount off the side for some extra changing/chilling room!
oooo, yes, that would be less stealthy, but room to change or sit in a real chair would be nice. And, he could hang out his clothes to maybe possibly dry a little bit.
EPA says no. Where Should I Place a Carbon Monoxide Detector? Because carbon monoxide is slightly lighter than air and also because it may be found with warm, rising air, detectors should be placed on a wall about 5 feet above the floor. The detector may be placed on the ceiling. Do not place the detector right next to or over a fireplace or flame-producing appliance. Keep the detector out of the way of pets and children. Each floor needs a separate detector. If you are getting a single carbon monoxide detector, place it near the sleeping area and make certain the alarm is loud enough to wake you up.
step creek is left. descending the trail on the right from up on the ridge on a MTB is really fun. Also, aren't carbon monoxide sensors supposed to be low near the floor since CO sinks!?
I would consider vinyl wrapping the “false window” dent on the outer sides, blend right in with the tinted windows, really common on Ford Transit Customs in the UK
A wee awning and a roofbox would help with space. And does it not get a bit damp in there overnight? Anyway another DK video making me want to go and enjoy the great outdoors.
1: Regarding the adventure mobile being boring but covert, perhaps a tinted but transparent vinyl decal - nearly invisible in low light but flashy in the sun. 2:Welcome mats are KEY for an adventure wagon, they make a big difference 3: I'd recommend a large floor mat Like 3' x 4' to fire on the ground outside the slider door as a staging / boot removal area. Role-er back up clean-side-out and off you go.. Pro move is to have a sleeve to put the matt in if there is no clean side. 4: Great vids!
An awning like used for camping with the 4 extendable legs would double your usable dry space and give you a place for wet clothes to dry. Plus you could cook outside.
The stealth mode "company" graphic looks sick. Get a few traffic cones (mount them outside the van. is that a van?) and you can officially park anywhere.
Bravo! Here are some useful/useless suggestions. Black pinstripe on van leading to some little commotion explosions at the end...ehh ehh. Consider a roll up canopy of some sort coming from the side door to help keep you dry while changing and give you a spot to set up a lawn chair right outside...one more spot to chill...of course that means having a foldable lawn chair in the van....sooooo, maybe not. Also, rando thought, an ipad or portable monitor mounted to the ceiling so you can laydown and watch a flick or sit up.
I offically (yes, with 1 "i") love this channel. 😍 Thanks for the great quality videos, for motivating me to get off my ass and start pedalling after years of excuses not to do so. Also thanks for helping me discover Chances with Wolves. I'm watching your earlier videos too. Keep up the good work mate. Hugs from Spain. 😎👍🏼
Check out this northwesterners super-cheap and easy awning. It'll give you tons of dry, covered outdoor space for about $60. ua-cam.com/video/LoT5Z3rwdj0/v-deo.html
I tried to tell you your fresh water was too small😅 Also, if you go “hand pump” consider that you won’t be able to do any 2 handed washing. Like holding a dish while scrubbing and rinsing simultaneously as you would in a home sink setup 🤔. As always, you’re amazing at what you do and yeah… more Ron! 🤣
Pro Tip for the water system: take a valve from an old inner tube, drill a hole in the cap of the tank and install the valve. You've got anyway your bike pump with you - just pressurize the tank to 2-3 bar to get a nice water flow going, with both hands free! (I did this kind of stuff to my tree house to get a working tap and shower to it when I was like 11 😂 #onceanengineeralwaysanengineer)
umm... where's the bicycle? I kind of get that the bike takes up a lot of space but I'd probably want my van to have enough space to keep the bike inside when I'm driving around.
On my camper van (back in my bike racing days) I made a little awning that stood out over the slider door. I had a mat for changing out of my muddy cycling gear and generally being an exhibitionist. Camper shoes are a good idea, maybe something fluffy?
All stealth goes out the window with the bike rack on the back! Also van living is so Mai stream now you aren’t fooling anyone by keeping it white. I’d get a roof rack system and you could attach an awning or vestibule to it. That way you get way more living space.
Maybe change position of bad behind the driver, add swivel passenger seat. You will have more room and seating places. Also add laguna table so You can work and eat on this seat also You can rotate and have outdoor table for cooking and beer :-D
Awesome video. Really liked the hike shakedown idea. With regards to the stealthy van. I was going to put nicer wheels on my Forester but decided against since it gets left in secluded places when we ride. Don't want to come back to a wheelless car. Less is more in this case. My two cents.
First person I’ve seen to admit that their mini camper is a fort. Let’s be honest that’s exactly what they are. A tree house on wheels. Oh and that sandwich sounded deeelicious! Or should I say deeelicous?
maybe a hammock in the van for sleeping, easy to deploy, easy to store, and gives you more space to move around in. and they are compfy... giant commotion decal on the van...
It’s coming together. I think my next moves would be: 1. Passenger seat swivel 2. Contractor style roof rack 3. Roof top PVC water storage/solar water heater
That was just a fun, funny vid of a fun guy having a fun outing and adventure. Fantastic or should I say funtastic!? Love the van changes. Maybe add a DC or rechargeable mini vac? And get a small USB fan to run off an Anker or similar? Both work well in my dirtbag parttime campervan setup.
Shall we Instagram🤳?: bit.ly/DkleinIG

Solid
Dang it. I should have scrolled down.
oooo, yes, that would be less stealthy, but room to change or sit in a real chair would be nice. And, he could hang out his clothes to maybe possibly dry a little bit.
DK, your CO detector has to be lower than where your head is, CO fills a space from the floor up. Keep doing what you do, and be safe!
Thanks for the heads up. will place in a better spot!
EPA says no.

When you said Ellie made us a sandwich, can I expect my half to arrive in the mail?
Hahahhahahaha!! 📬

Please dont stop making your content, this is so nice to watch
Keep the van stealth and un assuming, it’s the inside that needs to Rock 🤘☺️
step creek is left. descending the trail on the right from up on the ridge on a MTB is really fun. Also, aren't carbon monoxide sensors supposed to be low near the floor since CO sinks!?
Aren’t we all experimenting with our lives 🤷♂️😆
"Kinda look like cammo, kinda don't. They are in disguise." Love it!
I would consider vinyl wrapping the “false window” dent on the outer sides, blend right in with the tinted windows, really common on Ford Transit Customs in the UK
Roof rack and a fold out awning or a collapsible awning. For changing outside the van.
Missing the "and the walk, by the numbers" part ...
The conflict is I want to like this video but then UA-cam will recommend nothing but van camper builds for the next three weeks ;-).
A wee awning and a roofbox would help with space. And does it not get a bit damp in there overnight? Anyway another DK video making me want to go and enjoy the great outdoors.
It would be less stealth but a retractable awning would give you more protected living/changing/chilling space
What about like a hazmat changing area? Lol
Yeh a retractable awning and a roof bars so you can add a top box for any larger and or wet gear. Frees up space inside.
Dude! Crocks for van shoes. If you ain't crockin, you ain't rockin!

You need to put on some roof racks so you can rig a tarp off the side to use as an awning. It's the only way to camp in the PNW.
An awning like used for camping with the 4 extendable legs would double your usable dry space and give you a place for wet clothes to dry. Plus you could cook outside.
same if the read door opened up rather than sideways...
Hey dude... instead of the foot or hand pump for your sink check out the rechargeable usb sensor taps on Amazon...🤔👌💪👊
The stealth mode "company" graphic looks sick. Get a few traffic cones (mount them outside the van. is that a van?) and you can officially park anywhere.
Haha! When I visited Portland in 2019 I immediately went for a hike. Thought the trees all have sweaters too!
The music in the woods reminding me of Harriet the Spy when they’re running in the artist’s yard (metal work/glass work art)
Love this!!

Fun fact - the trillium is also Ontario’s provincial flower. So don’t pick them if you’re ever there!
Typed this out. Then saw your post. Not illegal, just kills them really quickly.
Hey Dustin - you need an awning for that van bro. Extend your living space but still be able to park! badass.
Yes I do! Dear Yakima.... ;)
Were you afraid of a Bigfoot encounter? The van is looking good!
And tha WALK by the numbers?
yo player!! watching from Gold Coast Australia 🇦🇺
I think this may be my favorite vid. You are a comic genius!!
Player!!! 🙌🙌🙌
How about using astroturf as a rug inside the door of the van. You could shake it out or rinse it off after a trip.
Player this is a really cool idea!
Dude... shoulda kept the Millennial Vulcan...
Im glad I got ride of that thing
And the camp out by the numbers
Miles to the destination......
Calories consumed....
Calories burned.....
And total hours sleep........
Needs a sweet A-Team Strip going down the side or full on unicorn/barbarian/phoenix mural with bubble windows.
Impressive! No bike but 100% quality video
i don't know how i ended up here...but I'm glad I did
This makes my day!!
I offically (yes, with 1 "i") love this channel. 😍

Theres No I in Team. But theres one I in Offical
hahahahhaa
Have spent a long time wondering what arugula is. Finally Googled it. Rocket!
Next upgrade: Vestibule/expanding awning off of the Deployment Vehicle's side doors.
Need a mini wisk broom and dustpan to keep that floor ship-shape. (and another pouch to hang it on the back of one of the seats)
this right here. whisk broom and dust pan. essential.
Moon Fab makes an awning called Moon Shade that fits this van perfectly. Highly recommend.

what happened to the actual camper van?
I was also wondering this. Though I'm guessing with the covid demand for camping vehicles, he may have traded it for his kid's college tuition.
@@insquares He talks about it here - ua-cam.com/video/Ka6OE2CieNs/v-deo.html
He sold the Space Box and his truck to try to see if he can make one vehicle work. He has a video on it.
@@scottamy404 nice. yep watched it. makes sense. Thanks guys. missed that one.
Every time I hear that music (eg: 2:45) I'm expecting two lovely tall ladies spreading flowers in front of Dustin.

Oh yeah! For f-sake I want that sandwich.
hahahahhah!

You should go with different rims & tires to make it add some DK style to it.
Don’t forget the Spotify playlist
Fun fact, in Italy this van is called "doblo' " originally made by Fiat (Stellantis part now)

I've seen people hang hammocks in smaller vans like this. If you get the right one it's comfortable, and makes the space really flexible.
I reckon an awning on the door side would make a much nicer place to stand that out in the rain! They're pretty common on camping rigs here in Oz.
the trillium flower is Ontario Canada's provincial flower
I would add a rack to the top of your van, and install a Awning off that rack, much like moonfab vehicle awnings.
A very unique van life experience....
Maybe change position of bad behind the driver, add swivel passenger seat. You will have more room and seating places. Also add laguna table so You can work and eat on this seat also You can rotate and have outdoor table for cooking and beer :-D
If the space box had done 70 MPH would you have still made this change?

I think the phrase, “What could possibly go wrong?” Should be on a t-shirt.
First person I’ve seen to admit that their mini camper is a fort. Let’s be honest that’s exactly what they are. A tree house on wheels. Oh and that sandwich sounded deeelicious! Or should I say deeelicous?

So you are a vegequarian? First time I have heard you mention anything non vegie, I love sea food and smoked salmon, so right there with you!
Yo Dustin check out the Yakima racks awning shade for the covered front porch effect for the van!
Arugala? ..... the noise cars horns from the 30's make.
If you live in the US&A, how do you know whether there's animals in the woods that can eat yer or not???
You need an awning for the side of the van, doubles the living area and makes tiny vans much more fun
How about one of those surfer fleece/cloth hoodies they use to change in? Might help for changing outside.
It used to be about the adventure, not the crib. Looks like things have reversed... 😑
Dude, what about an awning? Love all your videos!
Sweet camper Van , just need to add a canopy for chilling outside in the rain .
no bikes? where you hide the bikes? 😩🚴🏼♂️
I highly advise in getting a roof mounted pull out awning.
Your content is good. Your music occasionally annoying.
I was expecting, at the beginning of the video, a cut to a night scene with him screaming in the night.
It’s coming together. I think my next moves would be:
1. Passenger seat swivel
2. Contractor style roof rack
3. Roof top PVC water storage/solar water heater
Really good tips. A seat swivel would be life changing.
only dklein feels the need to put camouflage in disguise
did you miss the potty from the last camper van?
Boring is good .. when out in nature, best to avoid being ‘shiny’
Get a mat to lay outside the door. Long enough to go under the van so you can stand outside and slide the muddy shoes underneath.
It needs a satellite dish to go with the field research theme. And by the way free Fergus that is all
Hi, What club are in Salem and Portland?
Camouflaged camouflage… cool
It would be cool if you can fold your cot up and give yourself more room
Can the water be roof mounted and gravity fed?
Glad you put the hiking in the edit, super sick
You are slowly turning into bubbles.
You need to get a retractable awning DKlein!
Glasses in this one?! Little help! Thanks homie
Yo Dustin let me get a link for those seat covers.
How stoned where you under the forest walk?
link to the seat covers please... those are cool.
And the drive by the miles…..?
That was just a fun, funny vid of a fun guy having a fun outing and adventure. Fantastic or should I say funtastic!? Love the van changes. Maybe add a DC or rechargeable mini vac? And get a small USB fan to run off an Anker or similar? Both work well in my dirtbag parttime campervan setup.
I think I stopped in the parking area to pee once.
Literally lol'd @ your trillium ID. Also known as Wake Robin fyi... Fffffffffff
Edit: Winston impression warding off humans is A+100
I wonder if you can add a swivel base to the drivers seat, that would be handy for seating options
