The Opal camo definetly can be done way faster, if you dont save and quit a mangler should spawn every single round and if not you need to to save and quit till you are not getting a bug round when joining the game. I needed in avg about 35 min for opal that i did for my last 2 camos. For afterlife it can also be done faster i was for both opal and afterlife on the rooftop where the Wunderfizz spawns and i killed the zombies as they spawned in you need about 4,8 rounds to get the 200 kills but if you leave the door on the side from liberty lanes closed the zombies will only spawn right in front of you. Round 11 can get cleared in less than 1 Minute and round 15 in a bit more than a Minute so opal should need about 30 to 35 mins to get and afterlife about 6 to 8 mins. I dont know what was wrong with your game but every time i played directed mode till now i got every round 11 a Mangler spawn if i didnt save and quit the game.
I played the entire match w/o saving and quitting, the Mangler spawns are inconsistent, seems be that some sessions will give you Manglers every round and others won’t. However you can reset the session by saving and quitting as well, I’m testing it a bit rn
This is still a good method for Afterlife and Nebula, Afterlife is especially easy since you can make your gun strong enough to instant wipe a horde before taking any damage.

I thought the 1 mangler was a guaranteed spawn every round
I heard that was the case but when actually playing I got one like every other round, if I was lucky haha

they patch the mangler coming out every round
The manglers are a guaranteed spawn if you have more then 1 person in the game, just sucks that you can't make a save file if you do that
