Mangalorean Catholic Style Pickle with Raw Masala | Instant Pickle

    Ingredients:
    650-700gms raw & tender mangoes
    2 tablespoons table salt
    For the masala
    10 long dry chillies (Bedgi)
    10 short dry chillies (Harekala)
    2 tablespoons mustard seeds
    1 teaspoon cumin seeds
    1/2 teaspoon methi seeds
    1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
    For the salt solution
    1-1/2 cups water
    2 tablespoons salt

    Hi Sherin bai! Maka lonche karche mulyar bari pishen. 😅 Hanve dusre kadeyi jiven allen'che recipe polile. Jive allen'nth mostly Mirsaang, Sasanv ani haladh galtath. Jeeren ani Methi galnanth. Mostly bhramin style. Taka pormol dusroth astha. But very nice recipe. And you are my go to person if i want to find any mangalorean recipe if my mum doesnt prepare it. Also i had searched everywhere for Christmas Chicken roast recipe. Finally found in your channel and have been preparing since the past 3 years. Keep up the amazing work!     Very nice my mom use to prepare but with that small round mangoes .
    Water released from mango to that I have to add more water and boil?

    Liked your recipe but I want to know don't we need to put heated and cooled sesame oil or any other oil in this. And also can we keep it out or needs refrigeration.

      No, because this recipe doesn't need the oil. Surprisingly it stays good for months if prepared hygienically, at room temperature. You can refrigerate it if you wish

    Hi.. I want to try this out but where do I get these harekala chillies.. I don’t seem to even find it on Amazon.. is it called by any other name? Is bore mirchi and this the same? I live in Bombay..If I don’t find it what other substitute can I use? Pls help.. bdw..I’m a Sequeira too 😜

      Hi Renita, sorry for the delayed response. Harekala chillies are available in Mangalore and Bangalore, not sure abt other cities. In Bombay you can check with your local Mangalore Stores outlet and if they don't have it, ask them to bring it for you. Another substitute is to use Kashmiri chillies but they won't give you the same flavour

      3 months under refrigeration if prepared hygienically

    With water will it not spoil faster? Also what is catholic style …? All spices are typical Indian spices 😂

      Maybe you did not pay attention but it was salt water that was preboiled and cooled. Not plain water. Also, I never said Catholic style spices. It is a preparation predominantly made by the Mlorean Catholic community. There’s are other styles of pickles made by other communities. That is the beauty of Mangalore but ofcourse you chose to troll without even paying attention to the details 😂
