  • Welcome to the FIRST EPISODE of A SLICE OF THE ORIENT!
We’re going on a journey across the continent in search of some of the last remaining pockets of traditional music, with the hopes to help preserve the insanely unique music traditions still alive today.
We started our journey in the jungles of the Pejeng District in Bali, Indonesia, at a temple known as “Goa Garba”. Nestled along Bali's Pakerisan River, Goa Garba, the "Cave of the Womb," remains a cryptic treasure, with its purpose and origins enshrouded in time.
We were blessed to meet Catur Hari Wijaya, a multi-talented artist who embodies the roles of musicianship, with a passion for ancient folk traditions and ethnic music styles from around the world. Now living in Bali, Catur has shared his musical soul with communities from across the globe, fusing sounds from Indonesia, Africa, the Middle East, and India.
As the first stop of our seven-country expedition, this episode marks the beginning of an insane journey of cultural exploration, celebrating the essence of each culture through music. WE HAVE HEAPS MORE TO COME! In just two weeks, we'll be unveilling another episode, which will conclude our time in Bali as we prepare to continue our adventure to Java, Indonesia. Please hit that subscribe button and show us some love, as "A Slice of The Orient" commences with Catur Hari Wijaya performing his original song “Ratu Adil” at the mystical Goa Garba Temple.
