Purchased Aurora yesterday. Love it! Super easy to use! I do have the Neoverb, very nice but to be honest, too many controls was kinda dizzying. I like the ease of use of the Aurora. So Neoverb is nice if I want to tinker and fine tune, Aurora, for simple, quick and easy. Both sound great
Or if you have Soothe - send a channel to a buss reverb, place soothe after the reverb and side chain Soothe to the track you want to be used for unmasking : ) But to be fair - this plugin does it a lot quicker and across multiple sources
I’d rather have a $39 plug-in do all of that for me so that I can move on to other aspects of the record. This is not a eureka moment. There are a few ways to emulate almost any plugin available. Plugins like this untie your hands from much of the technical aspect of music making (which is also a lot of fun when time avails) so that we artists and producers can really stay in a creative flow which is several X more fun. I’ll give it a shot. Hopefully I’ll love it but if the converse holds true $39 is not a terrible hit to the pocket for the sake of improving your craft by increasing your level of efficiency and creativity as well.
save your money: a) put a reverb in a bus b)put a dynamic eq after the reverb, external sidechain routed to that from the orginal source track c) dip some of the characteristic frequencies. If you don't have dynamic eq, use either multiband compressor or compressor contolled with similar external sidechain, almost similar result.
Wow this is a good plugin to get. I usually don't get any new plugins because I want to keep myself from having a lot of plugins and not using all of them. I could probably use something like this. I'll check it out and see if I like it. If I do, then I will buy it. 👍🏻
@@frank_beeyeah you should be able to use ducking in your existing reverb, and turn up the pre delay. Two adjustments in your window. Or get the "new" plugin
The only reasons I can see for buying this, is the convenience and maybe the reverb algorithm. Other than those 2 things, all of this can be done with even stock plugins. 'Reverb+EQ+Sidechain' or 'Reverb+Trackspacer or Soothe'.
If you have the latest Neutron, there is an unmasking feature in there that can give you this same effect. Then of course, route it, and add reverb. I do admit, it is convenient to have the unmasking feature already set there in Aurora Plugin and just have reverb. So this isn’t too bad.
You can control the unmasking in real-time with Aurora. For more details on how Aurora works differently from Neoverb, check out this article here: bit.ly/3BHXABu
Impressive. However I usually just increase the low-cut on the reverb with all the channels up until it sits right. In the real world that's gonna get you to a similar place most of the time (maybe better due to the room sound having a static space).
This reverb sounds good, I think I can achieve similar function using soothe 2 with dry signal being the side-chain input. One question, would this plugin be in the next Music Production Suite?
If I get to the point I know all the DAW tools, plugins like this can help speed things up a bit I would think. The photography industry is same and plugins are not much different photoshop as example has all the tools built in already to create every effect and automations so the 3rd party plugins are basically interfaces for PS, vst plugins run in a daws wrapper and use it's functionality along with their algorithms. Photography is a bit different though and you can make a Cowpie into art, the Cowpie equivalent in music would just sound a little better after processing but would still be plop of s to listen to. Great plugins are certainly offered by Izotope and this I am sure is no different but buying plugins thinking they will do magic to your tracks is a mistake that should be avoided right from the start.
Would you put this on a master bus (in a moderate way of course) to "glue" a whole track together? That adaptive function looks cool. It seems to know or detect when to add or take more reverb.
Yes, definitely depends on the final result you're going for. Reverb on anything gives it a nice air, but sometimes, especially for a really good vocalist, you or they might prefer the full character of their voice to cut through, letting the reverb only trail, not cloud. This plugin is perfect for both, as are the alternative methods others have posted.
I've never added reverb to a bass track. It's always dry as not to interfere with the higher EQ tonalities. Interesting that this plug in can work with low end frequencies with masking.
When the plugin starts off in bypass mode and is then activated, you can hear a real difference. However, when it then goes back to bypass it's still wet and there is no difference in the sound between bypass and wet. It's like the bypass mode doesn't work when coming out of the wet mode.
