I feel this so much right now. I wanted to buy all the bundles but I had to curtail myself and remember to farm
I got into the game around February largely because of the LSBs providing a means to "catch up", then started a free-to-play account when the new-player experience was updated in June. While most experienced players are likely to look at my main account and see a mess (which a lot of it is), I do actually have things planned out, even if it will be a while until I get around to the "backlog". There are still plenty of things to do that provide a sense of accomplishment, even if some of the base effort was fast-tracked. The F2P account provides different sort of excitement when achieving a long-term objective that brings a transformative addition to the account.
i completely agree. I started my account prior to the first LSB drop and got to about 1.5-2m gp. Farmed JKR, geos, bounty hunters, all while chasing executor, and looking back it was so exciting unlocking JKR knowing I had put the time in for him. After the first bundles dropped i got the SK, SLKR, and Rey bundles and sit around 5m gp now after taking a slight break due to life reasons. However, I never felt much at all going through and unlocking those characters. Recently I got the DR bundle, and this was by far a completely different feeling than when I unlocked JKR. Soon I plan to completely go off track from my plan and farm Bo Katan Mandalore just to have a feeling of accomplishment and go away from filling out teams with one or two characters my LSB didn't provide me with. It probably won't benefit my roster as much as other relics might but honestly, I think it will be better for me as the roster owner knowing I farmed that team myself again similar to unlocking JKRs team
I bought a few a of the recent bundles that have a bunch of gl.reqs, but I still kept my focus on the projects I had lined up prior to those bundles. Getting close to jkck, then the last couple reqs for Starkiller and some conquest characters I'm about to unlock... The bundles are a huge help but they can stay on the shelf until I'm ready to begin the corresponding farms. I'm of the mindset that they had some characters that I can immediately utilize and some of the value they offer can wait to be.cashed in later as well.

Completely agree i bought the klyo ls bundle a year ago bc i thought "oo shiny" did not know how to farm gls or anything. Did it bring temporary enjoyment yeah it did. But I ended up quiting bc I felt locked to one path. Came back around 2 weeks ago and am now continuing slkr and already are just abt a little less then a week away from the event. But what really sparked my joy again was bounty hunters and anikin. They may not be they best but just just spark joy for me every time. Whether you spend money or not there is always a way to have fun. Thats why its a game. Happy new year.

Regarding GAC matchmaking, I'm not convinced that CG sees "try hard" accounts at the same level as accounts with 5+ GLs or 3 - 5mil GP. I view match making as a method to create fair competition with people around the same ability level as. What that means is that in GAC I should be matched up with similar accounts who are also "try hard" accounts.
I should not be matched up against an account with 5+ more GLs and has all of the bells and whistles. When I go up against an account of that size, there is no strategy I could employ that will stop them from having a clear advantage.

Beaver, just want to mention, I had some of the greatest fun in my h2h live matchup with another youtuber, Phatphil. I lost, but it was so epic!
Im not sure if I agree with the premise and video title, but the fomo is for sure real and exploited. The bundles are to each their own, but you can see the inherent value in spending $10 to save you 4+ months of work. Im sure these packs have ruined the game for many people, but its essential to remember to play the game as you want. Whether thats f2p collecting your favourite chars, or buying every bundle to progress up the ranks. They have not (yet) released mod bundles, which most buyers now find themselves wanting. Other things like omegas, zetas, omis are also in defecit provided you buy your roster. So at the end of the day, a new player witha fat wallet cannot ever achieve the roster of a 5 year vet, as it currently stands. And I hope it remains that way. Just food for thought.

Spending money on SWGOH is a mug's game. Except for very, very heavy Krakens, spending money will always have you playing catch-up just like a f2p player.
Whole thing is, obviously, a scam. I don't spend and probably two/three years behind, but I love Star Wars and I love playing the game.
I am at almost 5mil and I am constantly fighting 8mil plus people and it is really frustrating
Also I have bought good value LSBs and it feels great short term but when I farmed Aphra for free it felt so amazing and I absolutely love using her.
Saying “who does the more efficient counter” takes no skill is an insane take, but generally I agree with all of this and yet find that the same is true while still spending on LSBs. Delayed gratification is 100% the biggest dopamine hit you’ll get. I buy the LSBs to supplement my PPs while still being able to keep pushing forward with the guild
i wasnt referring to do you take malgus or luthen or whatever the counter you pick in lower tiers. im saying you get to a point (top 100) in the top part of the game where in Kyber 1 you have 2 players with nearly identical defenses using the same top counters and it becomes a question of whos rng goes better rather than the skill of deciding counters and figuring how to make it through

The lsb bundles are just too good to say no too. Everything else doesn't get me lol I don't even buy the episode pass. And I do actually understand your point about not feeling as much compared to farming it yourself. When I unlocked JML and SLKR I got a big amazing feeling and I didn't get that as much compared to unlocking stuff with LSB. but equally the time saved on the farm is just too good to turn down. X
Just got my first gl as 100% ftp and it felt amazing especially now that I can look at other directions and new stuff
