I love the focus on Widget improvements, though still feels like even Google's widgets don't always work consistently or use things they recommend. My Google weather widget often gets out of sync suddenly and shows old data. Checkboxes are now allowed, but Google Keep still doesn't allow me to click check mark on lists. Not all Google apps are Material You themed still.
We don't like the widget for Google calendar. The app cannot be uninstalled to replace it with an older version. The app doesn't allow an older version to replace a newer version. We must create the widget from the old version, but how? Many thanks and best regards
we have preview layout property newly added in AppWidgetProviderInfo xml. When I tried to access the preview layout from my host application, I face ResourceNotFoundException. There are not much info available on how to adapt preview layout in host. can anyone explain?
I think he's referring to the "Home" / "Launcher" app host process. Widget Views (RemoteViews) don't live in your own app process, but can be created inside your Home app. That's why there's large limitations on types of views you can use as your app is not the one creating the Views. Your app process then receives notifications of events via a BroadcastReceiver.
Where are the Glance tutorials and example apps? Everything I can find is outdated and incomplete.

How about Jetpack Compose for the widgets?
@@marcelpinto9992 great news, thanks!
Since fluter now supports widgets too, is all of this customization supported on flutter as well?

Is it possible to make a little basic game using a widget?
