I only hope you're being sarcastic....
gar par but it is dope isn't it?
This is a really interesting series Jake. Thanks for doing it.
Good luck in your search. I have been in the IT industry since 1971 and while at times stressful, it has also been very rewarding. I retired from full time work 2 years ago and now work as a consultant 3 days a week (now 64).
Hi can I ask I'm trying to currently study coding and networking to move across into an IT related field from electrical engineering. Any tips on what not to bother learning and what is essential in the current climate?
Given my past experience I think a networking role would be an easier role to transition into and I'm thinking of taking the Cisco and CCNA qualifications via UCertify eventually. I don't have any real professional experience in IT right now other than building PC's a bit of networking experience and html coding in my personal time, but I'm hoping to do some volunteer work somewhere to get my foot in the door as it were.
glad I'm not the only one who ends up sitting in weird positions when working for long periods
I really enjoyed the moon shot. That was brilliant.
I waited for so long ! Your vlogs are so much fun to watch :D
I just had my first ever phone interview for a programming job yesterday. It was intense, very technical (even the behavior questions), and a lot different from any other job interview I've had before, but these videos about your job hunt made me feel a lot more relaxed about my interview and my own job hunt. Good luck with your interviews!
In two or three years they will be happy to offer you another job because you have more experience.
Jake, If you're stuck for an interview spot in that area again, head to the General Assembly campus by the station, the super friendly staff would show you around and let you take your calls.
All the best Jake and so cool when u talking in phone @ 05:00
That opening transition though. That's what a Cambridge education gets you!
omg i love the intro, well its not actually intro but the beginning of video is soo great
Glad things are looking up!
Really enjoying your videos, Jake!
Your vlogging style is definitely coming into its own! Good luck with the job search
I am in the same situation at this moment... London have a Large jungle.. where you need to fight and motivate yourself for surviving.. wish you all the best!
I'm in the same boat, i have been unemployed for about 4 months now. Really just want to have something to focus on and be involved with.
Hey, it's definitely fine about the reapplying thing. In a couple years they will have forgotten and maybe at that point it wasn't the best fit but now it is because you've changes/they've changed... the stars are aligning.
Good luck and stay postive, Jake! 🔥
Jake, your videos inspire me to study and work harder
Re applying is only an issue if they ask if you have applied before which only a few companies will ask usually. I've turned down a few positions before and they will contact you again if you interviewed well in the past so I never worry, most firms would rather you say no if it's not right for you at the time and will respect your honesty.
If you guys wonder @ 01:32 it is "Martyr Monument" established to commemorate those killed during the Bengali Language Movement demonstrations of 1952.
Great video Jake :)
I have to say having been made redundant multiple times and being at that point of giving up when job hunting after goes on for months and months don't give up! Persistance is the key and apply for anything and everything you can, one thing as well try and keep a log on paper of things you apply for as if a company calls back and you ask what job they are calling about it looks a bit bad lol. It's hard to keep track when you are bulk applying and sifting through email application receipts isn't as easy as looking in a paper log/diary in my opinion. Be open to doing temp contracts even if they sound shit, even unemployed I found myself looking for the 'right' job and dismissing others too easily. Treat job hunting as a job in itself, get up early dress smart even if you're just at home and plan the time out in your day for various job hunting tasks, it really really helps. No doubt most people already know all this stuff but hopefully it might help someone hopefully, being unemployed can be soul destroying but staying positive is the key.
Oooh that “doors opening” transition was sleek af
So many unemployed vlogs makes me nervous in terms of thinking about my own job search :)
you are so positive and enthusiastic ... All the best for your job
Listen. You need to
a. do colab with Clarke
b. do a Q & A with Claudio
c. do a drunk vid with Roger
Do a colab with Clarke where they get drunk with Roger and Claudio then do a Q&A*
i go near Altab Ali Park near Aldgate east and whitechapel almost every week
Hey nice vlog. Haven’t watched your stuff for quite a while. Being with pneumonia the last three weeks was a shitty thing. But I’m kinda back on track now. Glad you’re getting interviews at least. I came in the UK in Feb and I had two. Was a nice experience. In the Maritime sector :) keep 8t going.
The moon’s shot looks pretty nice
JAKE I WAS JUST BINGING YOUR VIDS IM SCREAMINGGGGGG
Why are you screaming
He's a bit of a sicko
I am also sending out a lot of application and the thought of turning down multiple offers when I get work has been taunting me.
Someone with an employment history of 2 years at one place and 2 months at another will inevitably raise a red flag. This fact does not go unconsidered, even if the prospective employer states otherwise. At the same time, most people can relate to the experience of leaving an ill-fitted situation. I have a feeling that those interviewers know that you're an honest person who's pursuing a difficult, but genuine path. A hiring committee, however, will turn down a virtuous and qualified candidate if they know, or feel as though, they're not "the one" for you. When you meet the right people at the right place, you'll know. You'll feel really happy to talk to them and they'll know, too.
I see that stack overflow on the coding challenge 🤣
Hopefully you get the job this week!
that was a bangladesh shadid minar !!
Would be cool if you got a job with GDS, I really like how they're making government sites modern etc.
You are so smart man and genuine
8:07 this didn't age well

Hi Jake, I hope you'll find a new job soon. Just a question, what do you think of programming with in iOS ? I''ve just noticed that you use a mac. Do you think it is better?
Nice video update.
how long have you been unemployed for? a year? how have you managed to survive, solely youtube?
Well I'm hoping too see more videos about your awesome cooking :)

Hey, 1:33 its Shaheed Minar ,thats martyr monument of Bangladesh! I was so excited and surprised to see that ...
Me too!
love your new coat
Lol your pink socks are sooo cute 😂😂👌👌
How do you pay your bills being unemployed for so long?
Well, he doesn't have any kids to support and I think he would have earned a good London wage at Graze and the other employer... enough to get some savings anyway.
terex9: JobSeeker's Allowance. But he can't claim this for a while because he willingly made himself unemployed.
Jameel Alayyan Also he has rich af parents.
Savings. Your emergency fund should cover 2-3 months expenses. It's dangerous to live paycheck to paycheck.
Also could you give some advise on interviews stuff
6:02 I do look angry too when I code idk why
hey jake what's going ??
did you get the job !!!!
What are those coding challenges about? I mean is it algorithmic problems ?

Since Your videos are always months behind , I'm gonna assume, You gotta job already ;) _/\_
Also, unrelated, how would You rate that jacket after those few months of wearing it? Cheers for reply ;)
0:07 had me shook
We want to watch more cooking shows 😉😂
Heyyy just a quick question!! I’m starting university in London this year to study computer science , which laptop would you say is best suited either Mac Book Pro or HP Spectre? And why
Mo M oh I want to know about this too!
Since they use different operating systems, the software aspect is pretty relevant, so I'd say your best bet is to ask people at the university. You can often find a facebook page/group for the computer science department at your uni, and just ask there - people will be happy to help
a lot of people in the programming space use macs because it's a better os for it, windows is not the best and can lead to some pain especially with installing toolchains, but macs are expensive and obviously don't run windows exclusive software
Mo M dell xps 13
The spectre is the best consumer grade laptop on the market
Londonistan
Good luck I'd sell a kidney to work at GDS!
