    You should make “why everyone shouldn’t play” and talk about why everyone plays popular champs then explain how to counter them and why they’re not necessarily the only choice. Like a lot of meta champs are only meta because so many people play them that they’re constantly finding the best kit for them, while other less played champs aren’t fully realized.

      @@alex2005z They do well. That´s why they´re meta. But since they´re played more often, they have higher chances of losing. I gurantee you, if A.Sol suddenly got Yasuo´s playrate, his winrate would plummet easily 8% at the very least.

      @@alex2005z You're kind of corelating things wrong: Win rate dosen't mean how effective a champ is, but how likely it is if any one person takes them into a game of equals, that they, using that given champ will get a win, if no one on their team feeds, griefs, or goes full moron.
      Playrate being lower means the players use them less, winrate being lower in corelation with low playerate means the champ is weak. BUT a high winrate encompassed with a low playrate means that the champ is likely to be onetricked, and if there is a high play and winrate at play, that just means the champ is busted in a way, or has became a gimic win (no matter the outcome, if done well, will guarentee a win.)

      What I'm imagining is that his ultimate is still the same but without the dash and a shorter cooldown. And then his Q now speeds other allies up as well. And his W can now be applied to allies like you would do with a Lulu shield. Idk if it'd be a good idea at all to do such a thing, or if it'd even slightly work. But that was what my mind made when he said support Nocturne lol

      Nocturne’s ult can completely screw a team’s coordination, so it feels kinda support-y. Maybe if it was like a huge blast so that you couldn’t hit everyone at once during landing phase but u could in a team fight, and then he could let allies dash in with his Q

      People maybe don't have knowledge but rize is based on a hero from dota 1 called out world destroyer the hero main mechanic is scaling based on mana but the meme of the hero is the gets constantly rebalanced and is either useless or overpowered because they keep changing the hero around a lot, this still happens until today in dota 2 he went from a mid lane nuker into a support and now he is a insane carry that works based on a item , league developers just got inspiration from OD and went along with the meme, hope you learned something from this

    just remove his ult as it currently is and turn it into a low cooldown combo ability. he feels far more appealing as a dedicated combo mage than a combo mage who can also teleport allied units. heck, they could return his shield on his R somehow and he'd feel better. they should double down on making him a hard to master combo mage who needs to learn specific combos for various situations. the best ryze players should be rewarded for knowing the various combos, like leblanc but more caster than assassin.

If we planned to made him a hard to master combo mage who needs to learn specific combos for various situations, we shouldn't make him a statchecking caster (assasin mage ?) or a drain mage, as we will back to that time where Conqueror was used on literally everything including mage/assasin, but this time only Ryze will be benefited.

    I think a very important part of these videos going forward is taking into account the champions scaling and item builds. Often times their balancing issues come from the items they buy and how the abilities scale. In the case of Ryze for example his unique thing is scaling with mana which tends to be problematic historically, so you couldve mentioned what he builds now, Seraph/FH/Crown, etc and why it's problematic for an ap adc with crazy late game to essentially build like a bruiser, and mention how your rework would change their build, what you expect the champ to build or fix the issues of them still going for said builds.

    I'm intrigued by this rework but considering how Riot designed most champions in recent years they would cut half of your ideas. It's just way too complicated. The biggest problem I see is that his abilities (mostly his Q) have multiple power stages and I cant see how opponents (especially those that have never (successfully) played this Ryze) have any idea what Ryze can do at any given moment. It's similar to Aphelios when his weapons werent shown on his health bar, but with no real way to fix it imo. Depending on his weapon choice Aphelios can only do so much stuff but it's clear for every player what that is before you have an encounter.
    This Ryze version has 4 different outcomes alone on his Q:
    - simple (AOE) damage without flux (aka tickling the opponent)
    - increased (AOE) damage with flux
    - empowered (AOE) damage with more speed, range and an execute
    - empowered (super AOE) damage with more speed, range, execute and more damaging followup when flux was on the target
    That's more or less 4 different scenarios when playing against Ryze that you have to consider. Does he deal little, moderate or high damage? Can I space properly or do I get hit by a longrange Q I wasnt prepared for? Can I tank the damage to go for a kill myself or do I die to the increased followup damage? Do I have to flash or Zonyas the Q because otherwise the damage spreads to my team? He keeps generating movementspeed on spellcasts but every time I see it the value of said increase differs.
    I really like the concept of empowering abilities, but having 2 sources of empowerment in his Ult and Flux with different interactions between those gives too much variance to make any sense of this guy unless you are an OTP. It's even worse when you play against or with him and I dont see how UI is able to show you what Ryze is capable of before he can do it. Maybe he gets a 3rd ressource bar like Corki with 1 point for every 10 stacks of Arcane? Basically this version overcomplicates his kit and the only people understanding and utilizing it to a reasonable extent are high elo and pro players. In other words, this version brings us back to old problems (you remove his teleport ult to weaken him in proplay and give him an AOE root?).
    The most important criticism aside, I dont understand why he needs 10 stacks for an empowered ability. The way I understand the rework it's about Ryze building up his own power spike window in the neutral game and then capitalizing on it. If that's the case how are you supposed to cast 10 spells before you can capitalize on it? It makes sense for laning phase and on sidelane but that destroys his teamfighting capabilities. The way I see it you want to have at least 10 stacks before you activate your Ult so you can cast your empowered Flux followed by Q for AOE or W for cc, but getting to those 10 stacks sounds very unreliable. I propose that you get 2 stacks on champion hit (maybe that was the idea from the start but I didnt get that from your explanation). Unless it's supposed to be "clunky" and Ryze isnt supposed to leave a lane and act as a splitpusher.
    That being said, I appreciate the effort and encouragement to theorycraft in the comments. The AOE root sounds pretty cool and he retains his combo spellslinging identity and gains more depth. It's sad that I cant see a future where Ryze gets a similar treatment unless Riot treats him as a "proplay only champ".

      Personally was thinking more of a Kayn Route and involving the World Runes and having him use it with 4 Diff stages in his Kit, Basically, have him do what he does now, but depending on what World Rune he has Changed his abilities in some manner
      Maybe Buffing his Q but Nerfing his W, or Nerfing his Q and buffing the E in some shape or form
      Making his W Omnivamp while Increasing the CD rate of his Q/E
      Then depending on what World rune he uses Changes his Ultimate Completly but Does very little in the sense of what his ultimate does now, Yes it's a group teleport, but the range is very little compared to Twisted Fate
      This was more my thought process it least

      @@alsanthair7943 If you want to fulfill this world rune fantasy you can give him a tweak based on his keystone choice. It's a thematic fit, everyone can look it up at any time and the keystone choice should be able to synergize with the gameplay modification.
      Just some ideas based on the current version:
      Precision (Conqueror): consistent damage; reduce his Flux cooldown or reward his spellslinging nature
      Domination (Electrocute/Dark Harvest): burst; increase the damage amplifier on Flux
      Sorcery (Phase Rush/Comet): empowered abilities or resource manipulation; base W roots or he gains increased or different benefits from mana
      Resolve (Graps/Aftershock): durability; give him his shield back
      Inspiration (Spellbook/Glacial Augment): creative tools; gold effiency is a big theme in this tree so I guess Ryze could be able to either gain more gold in some way (budget TF passive) or spent his gold in another way (possibly his elixiers have increased/altered effects). I can also imagine that there is some synergy with active items (Stopwatch, Minion Demat., Timewarp Tonic) like increased movementspeed or mana gain. Inspiration compared to all other trees is all over the place so Ryze's interpretation of this tree being the most quircky seems like a fit, I can even see some shenanigans on summoners (like CD decrease on summoner spell cast).
      If that would ever to be considered I'd streamline his Ult to a very basic ability with more deviations betweens his forms.

    yeah, I had a Rework Idea for Nocturne way back in 2014.
    I try to retell it here in another language, so it could get messy.
    Q: It stays the same, just remove the Cast Time, so he don't have to stop
    W: Increase the Passiv attackspeed a bit but change the effect when he blocks an Ability to Scare the Unit, who broke the shield.
    E: This Spell becomes a SKill shot with higher range than actually. (Still has the effect that he gains Movementspeed when he moves towards scared enemys, but decrease the MS Bonus a bit)
    Utimate: This Ability is kinda the same.
    Decrease the Damage of the Jump as compare for the new Effect.
    NEW: As long as Paranoia is active he gains the MS and Jumps to his target with every autoattack in a Range of 400.
    Note: Yes my new Nocturne E works similar to the XinZhao W, but remember, that this idea is from 2014, many years before Xin became his actual W xD
    Maybe this rework is obsolete now, because Nocturne is not a bad CHamp right now, but yeah back then I thought he really needed it.

    As a concept artist I love design and would like to ramble a little in this comment!
    At heart of a design is the idea, the concept, the idea drives the subsequent decisions. Thus I don't quite care about numbers, mechanics, cool downs, all the mechanical work in the gameplay.
    I believe Ryze was reworked a lot over his history first because he is one of the original characters made back in a time Riot was inexperienced, but also as said in the video he is a unique class of mage that is difficult to balance especially with the existing items back then. So low experience high challenge, old character, he went through many changes. That's not inherently wrong or bad.
    However if he has gone through so many changes relatively recent in this 11 year history of the game, hard to balance between pro play and normal game play, then I believe something is amiss with his concept or idea behind all the choices. Regardless of what that may be exactly, I think if they wanted to rework Ryze yet again he should be more drastically reworked with meaningful changes and enhancements to his game play. Distinctive features as well. That whatever he is turned into, it is clear what he is doing what is he casting what effects is he granting, visual and mechanical gameplay. Now what I mean by the idea behind a design has to be more meaningful than the mechanics is that I believe the mechanics are just ways to execute an idea. For example, Ryze's identity should not be that he has a point and click root. His identity should be for example.... Close range spell slinging dps. A point and click root may or may not be part of that. That's a very simple example for discussion sake.
    I'd say to also get rid of his ultimate and give him something individualistic. All those pro centric ally dependent ultimates are unappealing in normal game play and highly sought after in pro play. I think that is wrong to balance for pros only, because they are pros! They will be good no matter what they play. They are coordinated as a team, so obviously they love ally centric abilities and ultimates. Think of Shen ult, Galio ult, the whole of Kalista, all those champions went through many many changes, nerfs, adjustments, etc. Make a champion exist and function by themselves so 99% of the player base can play them, and let pros figure out their gameplay latter. It's okay they're pros. I'm sure they will be skilled if you gave them a bucket and a wooden stick.
    So, I'd like to see Ryze function by himself, with clear and distinctive abilities, NOT three similar blue skill shots with no impact, perhaps to play more on the combo effects. If he combines two abilities one after the other, he gets a special effect that is visually interesting and meaningful, and that its clear for other player to see and go, "Ah he used his Q into W" or something like that.
    Remember in your Mundo video, you touched upon the idea that Dr Mundo is SO similar to his old version that it addressed none of the problems of why he was uninteresting to play in the first place? If you want to solve a designers problem, you have to change things fundamentally sometimes.

    My take:
    A big aspect that has effected Ryze especially recently was the changes to items. Rod of Ages was removed, the shield on Archangel's Staff was removed and then the mana effect was changed to grant CDR instead of AP. Without those items, Ryze's identity as a battlemage really suffers. You bring up that a core part of a lot of battlemages is their zoning tools, but even more than that, I'd say their identity is defensive tools that other mages largely lack. Anivia has her passive, Vlad has his healing and pool, Rumble has his shield (though he's arguably more of an AP Juggernaut since he doens't have ranged autos), Swain passive, Viktor Q, etc.
    Ryze use to be extra problematic not just for his pro presence, but for having access to items and a base kit that both bolstered his defenses and damage. So his defensive tool was removed from his kit. But then the defensive aspects of items were also removed without compensation to him, leaving him even weaker, AKA the Riot special. So I would aim to first and foremost bring back some of his sustainability to put him more in line with other battlemages.
    Passive:
    Old: Ryze gains 5% bonus Mana per 100 bonus AP
    NEW: Ryze gains charges by moving and casting spells. At 100 stacks, his next ability grants him a shield equal to 5% maximum mana and 40% AP and 40% decaying move speed for 2 seconds. In addition, he gains bonus AP equal to 2/3/4/5% Mana (at levels 1/6/11/16) and bonus Mana equal to 5/10/15/20% AP.
    Q (Overload): Cooldown reset: Now requires two other abilities to be cast to reset Q cooldown (This replaces the movespeed bonus from expunging two runes)
    W (Rune Prison): Flux bonus: Slow turns into a root -> Slow increased to 70%, decaying over a duration of 3 seconds, and grounds the target(s) for the duration. In addition, W will spread to other flux-marked targets.
    E (Spell Flux): Removed: Automatic spread. Tooltip changed: Spell Flux causes the next spell Ryze casts on the target to spread to other nearby targets marked by spell flux and gain additional effects.
    Flux bonus reverted: Spreads flux to other nearby targets.
    Cooldown: 3.5/3.25/3/2.75/2.5s -> 1.5s
    Mana cost: 40/55/70/85/100 mana -> 30/40/50/60/70 mana
    Damage: 60/80/100/120/140 (+ 30% AP) (+ 2% bonus mana) -> 20/30/40/50/60 (+10% AP) (+1% bonus mana)
    Ult: Removed: Area of effect. Ryze can now only teleport himself to an area.
    Cast range: 1000 min - 3000 max -> 1000 min - 4000/5000/6000 max.
    New!: After the first second of channeling, Ryze becomes untargettable while also being unable to attack, move, or use abilities. This effect lasts for an additional second upon teleporting to the new area. (Total channel time of 2 seconds unchanged)

    I think for a ryze rework it should go for the cassio route. realy hammer home that one ability is essentialy all of his damage, put it on a low cooldown and make it play off of the other abilities in a more meaningfull way than: its now aoe. and give this man an ultimate that isn't a pro play only ability

    I played Ryze once in ARAM. Realized that he's actually pretty strong unless you get kited by long range champs like Caitlyn. He's also easy because two thirds of his kit is point and click and he deletes thanks to the short E cooldown.
    However, I still didn't like his playstyle. It just feels too easy.

      Those who think that ryze is an easy champion,im 100% sure that they play him with eqeqeq and if they remember that he has a w a slow a root a passive that gives him ms than he has to kite with abillites and using perfect tools lile everfrost and phaserush ...im not even gonna talk abouy hes 12 dps midgame combo thay only with pwrfect distance and timing you can achive...but yes such an easy champ eqeqeq ..

    I would like the current Ryze to have one more combo
    Currently, he can either do altarnating combo (QEQWQ) for more DPS, or a condensed combo (QEWQ) for root + Movement Speed.
    The third combo exists, not it's just a weak inbetween. You do QWEQ, for a movement speed, with a weaker CC but more dmg.
    This combo is very clunky atm. It combines the effects of both of the combos (You're missing out on the dmg of one Q, but gaining movement speed) but it also puts you in an awkward position where you have to wait the longest out of all the combos to do EQ again.
    So, my suggestion.
    Split QEWQ and QWEQ to give different effects to Ryze.

    i dont think ryze needs a lot of changes, current new items fixed a lot of ryze`s problems like spell vampirism. I also dont think he has a bad laning phase,similar to Viktor he has the capacity to bully the enemy with poke while putting the pressure on your opponent to do something to prevent your scaling,but is vulnerable to ganks and a single misstep can be a fatal difference. I believe it would be cool to make Ryze`s R like ezreal`s E that can be activated 3 times(like ahri but without the dash).

    I've always thought Ryze should be a jungler. Think about it, he runs around the entirety of Runeterra looking for runes, why shouldn't he run across the entirety of Summoner's Rift jungling?

    I like this type of video quite a bit. It's fun thought food and hearing ideas. I have my own idea based off one of the elements you mentioned, mostly the combo system and making a new spell weaving. To me, Ryze's champion identity has always been "rapid fire abilities" and "scales with mana," and I think there is a happy way to improve his skill floor while also making him not an Akshan-esque encyclopedia, simple. Just make his kit function like the earliest iterations, where you just have to be concerned only about proper ability chaining but have a level 1 ultimate where a combo counter exists which empowers next ability and keep Ryze's passive a mana damage scaling one. The catch is that the ultimate passive for empowering each next ability will also be his limiter, making each successive ability cost more mana as it empowers it, and also providing buffs like Q increases MS more, W root changes from slow to .5 second root, 1 second, 1.5, then 2, and something for his E. This way Ryze's laning power and all-in potential goes up, however, he can't bully too much or overextend, his mana and CD management becomes skill expression. Further, you keep his identity as a late game DPS mage because his power spikes now scale directly off finishing mana items essentially and levels in his ultimate adding higher numbers to his empowered abilities. Every rework keeps stepping away from his mana scaling identity and embracing ability-chaining, but just making him scale more heavily off of mana and having him have to play around scaling costs alongside with his combos will keep him balanced while having the potential to combo a little and with decent damage early game but not be oppressive, while being strong once he scales. Keep the combos simple, the effects simple, but have his mana consumption become an extra important resource alongside comboing that he has to actively manage in order to create more skill expression. Starts off a bit like a burst mage like this to be viable, but transitions into a DPS mage over time.

    This is an old video but I wanted to weigh in as some item changes brought Ryze more in to the limelight. Fimbulwinter/Winter’s Approach, and the tank-mage hybrid build that resulted kinda felt like exactly what he needed. An item that supplies him with a healthy amount of both damage and survivability, and kind of solidifed his playstyle. He feels like this really unique, battlemage-y bruiser, who can be much more oppressive with a new capacity for risk taking. I don’t actually think current Ryze is in need of any huge changes anymore, except his ult is still……well, you know. But it’s so hard to change it without totally destroying his balance

    I remember seeing a post like this as to why ap skirmishers/bruisers will always have crappy itemization, because with ad champions on top of building raw ad, marksman build crit and attack speed, skirmishers build attack speed and hp/lifesteal, bruisers build hp (and lifesteal) and assassins build lethality (also some champs focus on cdr but idk where to put them). But ap doesn't interact with any other stat so if you make an item with ap, hp and damage over time _*cough* Liandry's Torment *cough*_, then Mages and assassins with probably make better use of it and it'll end up being op. So you have to make the items stats trash (S11 preseason demonic embrace and riftmaker) so those other champs don't want to build it

    I miss the old spread mechanic where if you git a target that was afflicted with flux it would spread out. Felt more like setting up wave and maintaining it so you could hit your E when the laner was close and collapse it much nore satisfying than what it is now.

    If you want more ideas for variety content, another thing you could do is something similar to Carbot's Itdbecoolif series for HotS. He took characters from the original games and theory-crafted his own kits for them. Maybe you can do that but with some established Runeterra characters (I.E Silco), or even some of the cancelled champions (I.E Omen)?

    Personally I would do the following: hold the current passive as it is and adding the mark mechanic in it. Basically the following: q and w mark unmarked enemies while q,w and e consume marks when hitting enemies.
    The for q. Similar as the one he has.
    A single projectile that hit the first enemy hit.when it consume a mark it will spread a damage wave that also consume nearby marks to create new damage waves.
    W .target damge plus slow that turns into stun when marked is consumed (same as now)
    E. Can only be casted on a marked unit to consume the mark and start spreading marks to nearby enemies spreading further an furnther similar to the new q wave . Has 1 sec CD but increase cost per additional cast within 3 secs.
    Ult. A steroid cdr buff that also grants bonus Ms and spell vamp for 8 secs. Consuming marks will reduce the CD while it is on CD. Goes on CD when its duration ends.

    Uh, ryze's original kit wasn't about AOE at all. Sure his ult gave him a bit of AOE, but he was a sustained DPS mage, ie. he could constantly pump out damage until he died. He was also a tanky sustain mage since ROA existed and you could pair that with frozen heart which ADCs HATED. You could just have considered him a bruiser sustaining mage which is what he was good for. The only way you were getting off AOE damage would be if the enemy was dumb enough to stand right next to each other. Your CDs were literally low enough to just keep face rolling your keyboard from one enemy to the next. It wasn't about AOE damage. The future iterations are basically the same including his current iteration, AOE damage isn't something that ryze is good at. He's good at dishing out sustained damage.

    I go this day main ryze. He has always been my favorite since season 5 and it’s so fun to just to constantly watch myself win lane just to lose to any other lane winning because my ratios are banned from being whipping and my
    Hot being an escape instead of utility. Hell even with vamp ryze I remember win lane lose game being my motto for years lol

    I like these changes a lot. Promotes a ton of skill instead of bashing your face onto the keyboard for a free pentakill.

    One main thing for Aurelion Sol that I would love to see is to somehow implement his URF mechanic where he gains an extra star every few levels [7, 13, 21 I believe]

    As you keep saying Mage ADC, I just kept thinking about Twisted Fate cards
    Passive could be that his autos are 100% magic damage regardless if he builds ap or ad and still apply on hit effects. The ap is converted to ad standars since he maily auto attacks.
    My idea for a rework would be to have a single ability, maybe just his Q as a skill shot or point and click.
    And his w and e be like Twisted Fate W, but with 2 options each instead of 3, for a total of 4, since he is a hibrid between adc and mage you have 2 build options, you can build like an adc with attack speed, crit, and damage to behave just like a normal adc, and his empowered AA (w and e) just cause minor effects, maybe pick between a slow and a blind for w, or lower MR or Armor on e. But if he builds ap, once the ryze gets certain ap thresholds, like Kai'sa, his w and e change, his blind or slow are now a nearsighted or a root, his Armor or MR lowering are now empowered and are aoe, and his ult could be a gate way, similar to a bard tunnel but that goes both ways and covers an area of the map and has a pretty big distance, the portal could last 5-7 secs. It would be mainly an auto attacker with uiltility spells that when building ap becomes more spell sentric with less auto attack power.
    Who knows, maybe he will even become a viable adc, support or jg too depending completely on what build path he takes.

    This idea is great, but I would expand on that. Instead of making his e a single target point and click, make it a skill shot, that still spreads the mark.
    Also, as you said, he needs to be reworked to be more of a combo mage, so I would propose, not hte chain system, but an "order system" basically make it so that every 3rd or 4th ability that he has casted is empowered/changed.
    Q would either pass through targets with bigger range or create an aoe explosion, that is a but weaker than his base hit q
    W would root you target
    E would strip your targets mr and do the aame thing for any target that it spread to, but in lower amounts
    His ult needs to stay, cuz it kinda defines him in league, but his passive should be changed to "If Ryze hits 3 different abilities on an enemy champion he gets a burst of movement speed"
    Keep his passive scaling with mana, but make it more linear, bump it in the early and nerf it in late.
    And also he needs to keep the mechanic of reseting his abilities on cast, but I would make it so that his casted ability refunded a portion on his other 2 (but not fully), which will make you think about your rotations, similar to any other mmorpg mage

    I think it would be cool to see Ryze as a spellcaster ADC like Ezreal. I think they essentially work as similar characters, where they try to chain their abilities to pump out massive burst damage, and seeing him reworked where he could play bot and mid lanes in a similar style would be an interesting concept.

    I think Riot missed so much potential with her being the "Mother" of the void hoard, but not having any "minions" like Malzhahar and Yorick. It would be SO COOL if she used mini void monsters to farm, set out traps and gank. All the while having tunnels and other shenanigans. I think it would be much more interesting for her to be a late game macro-intensive controler. One ability I came up with would let her lay eggs to farm camps while she is ganking and then go back to get the gold (like ivern) or use them as a trap (like shaco box)

    I'd just make him a combo machinegun caster and give him a version of karma ult.
    passive: casting 3 abilities in quick succession empowers the 3rd ability and reduces all basic ability cooldowns by X seconds.
    Q: fires a projectile that deals magic damage. if empowered the projectile's damage is increased and it goes through enemies instead of stopping at the first.
    W: roots the target for 0.5 seconds and deals a little magic damage. if empowered the root is increased to 2 seconds but can't be reapplied on the same target for 2 seconds after it ends.
    E: fires a projectile at the target that deals a little magic damage and reduces magic resist by X% (it's % so it affects tanks more than squishies) for 2 seconds. if empowered it spreads to nearby targets, the MR reduction is increased and lasts a lot longer.
    R: Empowers the next basic ability without affecting the passive count (so using Q-R-W-E will result in both empowered W and E), and gives ryze a burst of movement speed. usable at level 6 onward though, so his abilities pre 6 can be decent.
    so the point of his kit is to keep doing combos fast but the finisher depends on the situation. Q finisher is for general DPS and waveclear, W finisher is for CC and E finisher is for killing tanks and synergy with team's magic damage. also probably the best opener.
    and R is for doing empowered combos like W-R-E-Q for big AOE damage, or E-R-W-Q for the guaranteed hit on Q, or Q-R-W-E to lock down a target and shred MR so the team can burst it.
    fine tuning pending.

    Another idea:
    His passive will activate each time he gets more than 4% of his max health damage to damage the attacker and giving him an MS bonus. This helps him survive in lane. In case someone bursts him.
    Q: It will be a skillshot that gets couldown reset by walking. So, he'll have to Q walk, Q walk.
    W: the point and click root was cool. But what if this ability markd the enemies hit by his abilities and the active stuns every marked enemy.
    E: Puts a rune on an enemy champ to point and click slow him and empowering his next ability. W will aply to all enemis nearby. Q will aply true damage.
    Ultimate: Ryze creates a field that slows the enemies while damaging them and gives all teammates a shield that regenerates in time while in the field. Ult would render Ryze untargetable but stunned in the middle of the field for the 8, 11, 17 seconds.
    He has to use his Q walk like an adc that kites to deal damage. He can use combos like E Q W to slow enemy to ensure the landing of Q that deals true damage and them stun to keep spaming Q. Or E W for AOE teamfight stun. And his teamfight ult ensures his a win. While he has to use combos wisely. His ult makes him unable to fight and lets the work to his teammates. But if you're in solo Q you can ignore it and use your basic abilities to beat their team. Running around while spaming Q and using your W and E to either give true damage to an enemy tank or the aoe stun if they have Zed, Yi and Pyke.

    Talking of Cassiopeia and magic damage adcs, I kinda feel like her E should be an auto-attack toggle, kinda like Jinx Q. You toggle E and your autos are converted into magic damage, with the same effects as current E, they consume mana and have a fixed attack speed equal to the current E cooldown.
    It's just annoying playing her when you land Q and then mash E as much as possible, whereas adcs can just right click the enemy once.

    I haven't played with Ryze in ages so there may be something I'm not getting but, aren't Flux and Empowerment redundant? Both of them add an special effect to abilities and with Arcane stacks on top of it, he seems a bit overloaded for such a simple concept. Wouldn't it be possible to fuse 2 of these or maybe change his ult?

    I'd just Aatrox him.
    Passive: Spells cast an additional unique effect depending on the abilites casted.
    Q: Increases next ability's damage by 12.5 - 25% based on missing health.
    W: Slows by 50 - 90%, decaying over 1.25 seconds. If the ability CC's ( W only ), suppress the target for 1.15 seconds instead.
    E: Echo 25 - 35% of the damage damage to the closest enemy in range of target. ( Prioritizes Champions, pets, monsters, everything else. )
    Ryze has ult from level one, all other abilities gain an additional level.
    R gains a passive, every three seconds Ryze's next auto attack grants him 25 - 300 mana and gains 15% + ( +%mana) movement speed.

    His kit is honestly really fun to pull off full combos with, it's just that his ultimate is a dud about 95% of the time and his core itemization has pretty much been entirely removed or the items were shifted away from ones that he really wanted to build. He's always been a mage that's based more on scaling into the mid-late game, but they removed Rod of Ages, and they completely changed seraph's embrace to give CDR with bonus mana instead of AP, and before that they changed seraph's to no longer give a shield anymore. IMO, Ryze is one of the most fun champions to play when you successfully pull him off, but in almost all the other scenarios his weak early and laning phase just makes you feel like shit cause you're either barely hanging on by a thread or you're just getting absolutely railed by champions with stronger early/laning phase as well as repeat jungle ganks.

    A cool idea that I have for adding to the rework would be to change one or more of his abilities to consume a percentage of his max mana, and the more mana consumed the harder it hits (like a built in old muramana but AP) that way he can make full use of the new items and runes, scale super hard into the late game while still doing respectable dmg early but can't just face roll the keyboard.

    A champion i would like to see is Nasus. Not just because nasus is a champion i like, but also because of the conflict the champion has in identity with lore vs gameplay and how one-dimensional he can feel. In lore nasus is a master tactician, knowing how to outsmart the enemies, but in-game you can either go q go brrr or e go brrrrr with AP. It would be an interesting idea to see how you would possibly reflect this feel of Master Tactician while still retaining his playstyle of late-game menace that can one-shot you.

    I remember when the optimal full combo was qeqwqeqrqwqeq which could be casted in less than 15 seconds. Fast combo was qeqwq, wqeq if you need the slow to be in range for the rest. Now the gameplay is way slower and burstier and more boring and less interactive and the ult is useless outside of proplay.

    i always liked Ryze, his thematic, his lore, the style of an older experienced badass battle mage, who can teleport (as in one of the first cinematics). But he sucks in the current meta, all the dashes, gap closers and burst...
    I would be more for his ulti to become his E/W, same as Tahm Kench. Make his late game weaker, but his early game at least playable, add some skill expresion with the successful combos/ successful champion hits and we're good.

    I think vars explained the issues with early game pretty well. Unless you have the ability to mange recourses very well (9 to 10 cs per minute) then it just feels as if your stuck at ever-frost boots damage for long into mid game. So by the time you have 4 items the game is at 35 min and is pretty much over.

      THERE IT IS:
      passive: abilities deals more damage based on maximum mana and ability power gives you more mana. using unique abilities makes ryze receive arcane stacks that each gives you 1,5 ability haste. arcane stacks lasts for 5 seconds and decay by 1 every second that ryze has not used a unique ability.(arcane stacks max is 10/15/20/25 based on ultimate rank)
      Q:overload: passive1: bonus damage with spellflux is now 30%/50%/60%/70%.
      passive2: same passive as it is now(on the game).
      active: same as now(except of the mana percentage that is now 1.8%) spellflux now makes overload explode, dealing damage and slowing(if the explosion damages targets that have spellflux will consume the spellflux and deal more damage).
      W: arcane chains: ryze summons arcane chains from the floor, rooting every enemy on the area and dealing damage(mana percentage on the damage is 3%), spellflux makes this ability summon a explosion, dealing damage based on missing health of the targets.
      E: spellflux: throws a ball of spellflux on an enemy, if used on other spellflux will make it spread into the enemies near the target, spreading doesnt deal damage(mana percentage is now 2.5%).
      R:ultimate: ryze gains desperate power and 6 arcane stacks. while desperate power is in effect, ryze basic attacks will be empowered and ryze receives bonus movement speed(pretty much the same as in the video). recast: ryze launches a ball of pure arcane energy that bounces on enemies(only enemies) and deals (insert AP adc ultimate damage) damage each bounce, max bounces are 2 per target, if affected by spellflux, bounces 1 additional time, consuming the spellflux(note: every ability with spellflux consumes the spellflux, except spellflux itself).(yes i kinda got the old ultimate again)

    Honestly, I think Ryze is pretty strong right now. Fimbulwinter+Crown is crazy strong for anyone who wants to build a more tank oriented build (and they both stack well with Demonic Embrace+Shadowflame for more AP for Demonic as well as health) and the traditional Everfrost or Luden's burst build still one shots the entire game mid-late game. I think it's more of an aspect of identity than anything else.

    I feel his passive overload should be a stacks. At 10 (max) stacks, his abilites all gain bonuses (q bonus dmg, w roots, e spreads to multiple) but also costs more mana to use. He gains stacks by hitting abilities.

    the idea is really cool but as a ryze man i dont like the idea of his scaling taking a massive hit id like to see more late game power but safer early game not super safe but not the same as it is right now i like the idea that ryze becomes a monster if he can survive the early game.
    i would change it so arcane stacks faster in the late game either based on mana or ability rank so in late game he can consistently have empowered abilities that would make his late game better also the ult cd needs to be low really low maybe from 70 down to 20 so late game he can consistently use it.

      here is my version of a ryze rework:
      intead of having cd ryz's abilities have mana stacking system just like kassadin (they should still have like a 1 second cd just like kas ult). so using abilities one after the other without stopping will result in more mana cost but also more damage. his e is back to the old system where he had 2 charges and it only effects 1 target but using both e one after the other will spread (e w e will not spread). and finally a lot of new combos are back with some new ones like:
      q q will deal bonus damage (maybe some dot idk) e w e q which will now give shield scaling with mana but no move speed (e w q still gives move speed) and maybe some more. the fact that there are no cd can really take me wild sith combo ideas ofc the mana costs are going to need to be insane to balance the early game. and cd from items will go into mana regen instead.
