Dive into a realistic underwater

  • In this video I wanted to create a underwater ocean scene that appeared realistic, so to achieve this I started with a mold that was 4.5" square by 4" deep. I decided to do this in layers versus doing a deep pour because of the elements I wanted to add at different levels throughout.
    I mixed up my resin, Lets Resin 1:1, mixed some sand and rocks into a little bit for the bottom layer. I placed my rocks(granite, fools gold from Colorado) on top of the sand, then added some plants, shells, a bottle, seahorse and a puffer-fish in and around the rocks and bottom. That was left to cure. I then UV resined a life preserver, more plants, then poured the second layer (6oz) using a couple drops of carnelian(Lets Resin) alcohol ink to tint the resin slightly. Lets that sit for 2 hours to get to a slightly thick consistency, I then added a dolphin, a whale, a squid, a jellyfish and a smaller dolphin. At this stage the resin got really hot, not sure if there was a chemical reaction with the adding the fish, but had to put a fan on it to cool it down. that layer cured. moved on to the final layer, mixed up another 6oz, tinted it again with the same amount of alcohol ink. let that cure for an hour and half, then added the boat and let cure fully. For final layer I used the Lets Resin hand painted resin to create a wavy surface, let that cure and then used UV resin and white pigment to add to tops and also added colored UV resin over all that. cured under UV lamp for 5 minutes.#resin #resinart

    That turned out great. The rocks look really beautiful in there. I love the colorful plants and fish you added, especially the jellyfish on top of the bubble stream.😊 Have you ever watched Minibricks? If not, you’ll have to check out her channel. She does incredible dioramas. I have seen creators suspend items using clear fishline, they use UV to attach anything at the bottom. Some fishline is visible in resin but, others you can’t see at all. Sorry I’m not any help with that.. I don’t know what kind is the invisible one. From what I’ve seen that technique and deep pour is the only way to avoid the witness lines. That was a fun project to watch. Great job!❤

    • @resinmeup
      @resinmeup  6 місяців тому

      Thank you🥰❤ I have also learned that clear dowel rods work to. You just uv resin the item to the dowel and then to the bottom and you cut the dowel to whatever height you want your objects to be. Gonna have to try this again using those and use deep pour.

    The 2nd layer was not fully curd before adding the 3ed layer makes it deep large amounts flash it was the same as if you had it in a deep cup of resin .

    What you can do to hide those layers is to water some alcohol ink down with isopropyl alcohol, and tint the outside the color or colors that you were looking for. It will level out the slight differences.

    • @resinmeup
      @resinmeup  6 місяців тому +1

      Really? Do I mix it with resin?

    • @naudiaangelica6925
      @naudiaangelica6925 6 місяців тому

      @@resinmeup You don't need to. Just dilute it with isopropyl, and paint it directly on the resin. You can wipe it off with alcohol of course if you don't like it. You just kind of paint it, or use a sponge to get the colors that you're looking for. It's transparent, but you can hide those lines.. Just use a gloss sealant once you're finished. I prefer a spray sealant. You can use U.V. resin, but it's just cheaper to use a sealant. You can mix it with resin and paint it on if you like, but I prefer the method that lets me experiment and reach the color blends juuuust the way I like them, and *then* adding the stuff to keep it that way, lol

    are you using a deep pour resin? sounds like a flash cure

    • @resinmeup
      @resinmeup  5 місяців тому

      Hi Linda, no Im not using a deep pour, Im pouring in layers at the appreciate pour depth for my Resin. I poured 4 layers and this later was the only layer that did this and generally with a flash cure it happens pretty rapidly. This was an hour and half after I poured this layer and immediatly after I added the fish. It was just bizzare.

  • @WendyS996
    @WendyS996 6 місяців тому

    I think it flashed cured..pouring it too deep.

    • @resinmeup
      @resinmeup  6 місяців тому

      Wendy, I poured all of the layers exactly the same, same amount of resin. I thought that at first, but it didnt cure like a flash does, it just got hot, and usually a flash will bubble up. And the other layers didnt do that. It was just weird.
