On contrary, I'm glad to have only one protagonist and the other historic generals as partners on the field. I rather have a really really polished main character and see this character's origin story and how it weave into the Romance of The Three Kingdom. Knock one out of the park rather than give me 500 mediocre ones, that's refreshing.
Definitely an issue that was building up with the series was ridiculous weapons, just for the sake of adding another character, cause everyone had to have their own weapon. It did make for mediocre characters.
Highly agreed. There was definitely feature creep with the series. The more characters and weapons they tried to incorporate to make sure players didn’t feel they were buying the same game again was killing the fun of the game. Then continually degrading how tough the enemies were really made what was already a fairly mindless game, made it boring to play because even Lu Bu was not a challenge. This game was a return to form with a lot more than a new coat of paint. They were able to recapture a dynasty levels 4/5 level of difficulty with peons, even with the new skills and tactics. Then they made officers difficult to fight, making it so you can’t just juggle them anymore. On top of that, I think retelling the story from a the POV of a guy not originally tied to any one faction makes this much more interesting and makes the prospect of playing other factions (if that’s the direction) much more intriguing. I haven’t been this excited for a warriors game in years
Totally agree. The game has potential. Everything Koei has done with Origin has been a success. The graphics, new game mechanics, commanding your soldiers. Going back to Legacy game play with new mechanics. Like its always been said if its not broke don't fucking fix it. Just add upon it. But NOT being able to play with your favorite character. Thats going to be an issue. I think people will understand for store mode. But future DLC is a must add for the longevity of the game. Characters must be playable in at least a free mode. In my opinion that will be the make or break of this game. My guess would be. The investors gave a tight budget for release. But if the investors want to double there income. They let Koei make the characters playable as future DLC. Honestly they should be playable at launch. But I think players and fans will understand the money aspect of it. Expecially after DW9. If the investors are smart they'll give the green light for DLC playable characters "WITH THERE UNIQUE WEAPONS. NONE OF THIS CLONE BULL SHIT. Lets hope they learned from DW9. I've already seen Sun Ce without his Tonfa's. Big fuck up. I'm saying this out of love and respect for the game. Not being a shell. Thats become to be a big problem now days just look at MK1 for example. Need I say more. DEI ESG garbage that game has become. Thats all ill say. Been with DW and MK since its start. Well DW2 but u know what I'm saying. No this game has the potential to put Dynasty Warriors back on the map. But its very important that people state the obvious. The characters and there UNIQUE weapons is what makes Dynasty Warriors. Put what should be obvious in the game and I think the players will be happy. So will Koei and the investors. They make a shit load of money of this game. It has that potential but u need those two ingredients the characters playable with there unique weapons
A concern I have, that you hinted on, was the DLC Characters. If they do that, it comes across as, "We could have added this in the game, but decided to nickle and dime our audience instead." Costumes and the like are fine as paid DLC, but not characters. I'm afraid of the potential for "character bundles" already lol. If they do that, it explains entirely why we play as a "wanderer" instead.
Ok now the actual comment I think this is a gamble for musou games I think this game is trying to be different.. In every game we were told the same story over and over It basically is the same game just remade every time with improvements We are all aware of that Being a self inserted character in the series this time around I think offers some freshness to the series I think looking at something from another angle can make it more interesting Always reminded me of attack on titan 2 basically the game is a musou game and U play as a self inserted unnamed character living in the series It offers a unique perspective interact with these characters in different ways Having said that There is no Reason I should not be able to play these characters in free mode U have the moves sets already For when U temporarily control them So really having full control in free mode isn't a far stretch to me
At one time in the video, I had my attempt at explaining why I thought they didn't let you choose a character, but I took it out cause I wasn't sure I was able to convey why, so this is ripped straight out of the script I made for this video: (( Like all the other games, this one is based on the story of the Three Kingdoms, but each game varies how closely it follows the story. Most of the games were pretty loose with historic accuracy for the sake of having fun, for instance: Letting you play a character that was not historically in a certain battle. They may have been dead at that point, or just not there at all, but you got to play them anyway. This new game seems like it plans to follow the story more closely than the other games. Now what I’m gonna say next is just assumptions based on what I’ve noticed from the demo. For the first time, the characters look young and different. Sure, throughout the series they have had minor changes from game to game, but Cao Cao has always had his goatee. Guan Yu here has a much shorter beard, and Xiahou Dun doesn’t have his eye patch yet. It’s kinda strange, but I think the intention is to have them age and change as the story progresses, to eventually become what we are used to seeing them look like. They will grow stylish facial hair over time and get shot in the eye if you’re Xiahou Dun. If they do intend to follow the Three Kingdoms more closely, that would mean if a character is supposed to be dead or not in a battle, then they won’t be in that battle in the game so you couldn’t play as them. This is likely why you play as a wanderer instead of picking a character. You play as someone who is not in the Three Kingdoms story, therefore won’t be killed off and allows you to make choices of whose side to fight for. This keeps you from getting attached to playing a character that may end up no longer available in the next fight because they died or some other circumstance in the Kingdom story. Not being able to pick your character is the biggest change so far, and I imagine most people aren’t going to like it. While the wanderer can use any weapon he wants, it’s hard to ignore the change. )) At the end of the day, I'd sacrifice tightly following a story line, so I could choose a character again. Hopefully they add the Free Mode we are use to.
@@krieveplays I didn't think of it like that but it is true again same as attack on titan Because Ur a character insert Ur watching the history play out before Ur very eyes I did wander why they looked so young I did also think for a short time U were actually 1 of the characters I know some are missing at first I thought U were Zhou yu from Wu because I hadn't seen any footage of him atall and something about the way the wanderer handles his sword just reminds me of him Playing into this whole amnesia plot I thought maybe U were someone important Which brings me to my next question A WANDERER sounds like a title for someone just passing through How does he become a general in the 1 of the armies of the 3 kingdoms???
I guess it could be viewed as, "There was once a great hero who became an awesome general, but his story is lost to time" kind of thing. Either way, in a few more weeks we get to know the truth of it 😁
The big one is not being able to pick a character .. which also gives Omega Force an in to reduce variety to oblivion. As you simply cannot play the characters anymore, you can stop complaining about copy movesets for characters. So while other parts of the game might be going in a better direction, the loss of character choice is simply a big one .. where i think fans of the series simply cannot stand for. This seems like such a huge huge huuuuuuge downgrade and the exact opposite of what fans want out of the series. And just from that bit of footage .. the majority of people in there had the famous ball on a stick weapon already...
That's a good point about the weapons. Maybe because they limited us to 4 weapons for the demo, they limited the NPCs too, although that feels like a stretch. I think if they gave us a character creator, that would help a lot. We could still be a wanderer like they want, but look like we want too.
Subbed good shit
I think anyone who tries to take the time to make videos just starting out deserves to be encouraged
Keep it up Ur doing great earned another sub
Wow, thanks a lot! Makes it feel more worth the effort lol.
Im super excited for origins, cheers for the vid 👍
Definitely, can't wait for it and thanks for watching!
Keep it up good sir, wish you the best :)
Appreciate the kind words!

Always reminded me of attack on titan 2 basically the game is a musou game and U play as a self inserted unnamed character living in the series
It offers a unique perspective interact with these characters in different ways
Having said that
There is no Reason I should not be able to play these characters in free mode
U have the moves sets already
For when U temporarily control them
So really having full control in free mode isn't a far stretch to me

Because Ur a character insert Ur watching the history play out before Ur very eyes
I did wander why they looked so young
I did also think for a short time U were actually 1 of the characters
I know some are missing at first I thought U were Zhou yu from Wu because I hadn't seen any footage of him atall and something about the way the wanderer handles his sword just reminds me of him
Playing into this whole amnesia plot I thought maybe U were someone important
Which brings me to my next question
A WANDERER sounds like a title for someone just passing through
How does he become a general in the 1 of the armies of the 3 kingdoms???
