Just a trick that has been widely used by dealers and manufacturers. They register EVs as sold to fill the quotas. After that if the cars are not sold, well you know about the EV graveyards in China(Almost all registered 0 mile cars.), on ports in Europe, dealership parkings in US, etc. Have you wondered why ICE prices increased so much? Well, you also pay 1/5th of an EV that rots to match the 20% quota. So the viking just caught moment with freeze of new ICE registrations and a boom of fake EV ones to make the books for the government.

Well if the manufacturer won't deliver then do not buy any car at all. We have to force a change of heart here and we can only do that at the showroom.
IMO this is a government strategy. If EV sales appear ‘up’ to the wider populous, because other fuel types are restricted. It makes it look like EV’s are popular, which they hope will make more people go ahead and buy EV’s. Car people tend to know better of course, because most of us do not want EV’s. In China, the CCP has brought in new “safety inspection” rules that are forcing perfectly good ICE cars and trucks to be scrapped, often before the vehicle has been paid off. The used car market has collapsed as it’s risky to buy a second hand car that might fail the next inspection. This is all to force people to buy new energy vehicles thereby supporting the economy. Of course the claim is that it’s for safety and the environment but scrapping cars after just a few years is the opposite of environmentally friendly - all the material and energy to make the car is just thrown away The effect on ordinary people in China is devastating. This is where Britain is heading.

You can't blame the car manufacturers. It's the ridiculous rules implemented by politicians. But I'm sorry I don't need a new car that badly. Just buy a nice used car. Better way to buy a car if you're funding it yourself.
Well, I'm getting an EV on Monday next week. Only because my employer threatened disiplinary action if I continued to use my petrol Golf for business use, and they are providing the car. I'll be interested to see how long journeys to places as far apart as Kent, Swansea, Teesside and Grangemouth now take.
Carmakers are hanging on for the nuttiness to end. Not even the Labour party will let over 800,000 jobs plus disappear. The oil reserves are increasing every year. And the best fuel there is. At least 150 years and growing. Oil is everywhere they look. And no way can they call natural gas (methane) a fossil fuel.
What we need is a class action. Some law firm representing a large number of customers to insist that they are provide with the items they have paid for.
Manufacturers should get together and refuse to pay the fines Tell the UK gov to take them to court and prove that EVs are reducing emissions Then ask to prove that climate change is happening It won't happen but we can dream
Never mind it's the most vulnerable that will get saddled with EV's that do not work for what they need. Disabled and government supported charities. Those who have no choice but to accept the broken car even though it won't do the job and some don't even run.
Even if you wanted an EV, the UK, having damn near the worlds most expensive electricity cant help much, esp if you can't charge from home. My local council has banned all charging wires from trailing across pavements (even if the paths on your rented property if its council) and wont allow you to fit a charger unless the property has a driveway only and then it must have no path on the property for the wire to cross. Also, with this net zero isnt it a bit suspicious how now all the coal fired plants are shut the price for electricity has rocketed? and how can the wood burning plants be "green" if we are shipping the wood that it burns in from the USA.
This mandate of fining car manufacturers or whoever for producing ICE vehicles is tantamount to "them" holding the big stick and telling you folks in the UK what and when you can buy - in fact, it could possibly move on to other products. It is also depressing for those involved in the manufacturing and selling of new cars not just the company owners but even worse for those who work in the car industry. That is as culpable of taking the food out children's mouths. So glad I emigrated to Australia in 1978 because even though we have loads of brain-dead politicians and/or to put up with this net zero delusion we are yet to be ordered to buy what and when a vehicle. So sad and sorrowful for the old country.
Another 12 months of this and I would expect major manufacturers to move away from multiple models and simply offer one or two EV only and sell the ICE vehicles to countries without this type of mandate. Manufacturers can. Only sustain losses for a limited time, after which if Joe Public is not buying the high cost models, they will simply rationalise their business models by shutting many factories and downgrade their offerings to what people can buy (unless its premium models). Those keeping ICE cars for longer will have a short summer as their cars age and wear out. Those with lower mileage petrols ICE in good condition may find their cars go up in value for a few years, but it won’t last forever. In the longer term, this sort of scenario is what governments want, e.g. a drying up in private cars… Of course this will lead to higher taxation as the cash cow herds shrink.
I just don't understand what the long game is tho , if I had to buy a 30k car to get to work and put all my dusty tools In are ruin it would no longer be worth going to work , same must apply to alot of people . then what ?
Cancel all orders & get a refund, don’t buy any vehicles & they won’t be long changing their attitude when their business goes down the swany. Would rather take up knitting than drive a milk float .
So the cars bought in October held. This means that next year the cars bought in August will be held. It will snowball year on year. Typical politicians trying to play god with other people lively hood.
Wait till they ration petrol and diesel fuel for private individuals circa 2030 if you can still afford to drive by then. Govt will tax ICE fuel vehicles even more than 20% vat i suspect.

From what I've seen elsewhere, that's already happening. I'm sticking with my 20 year old petrol Skoda, and keeping up on repairs and maintenance, until it totally wears out. As it's done 95,000 so far, with NO major problems, that could take quite a long time.
Hilariously, the Electric Viking has put out a video today alleging that EV sales are up 58%! I can't decide whether he's deluded, or just a liar.
Both !
Both and some more.
Both.
Yes on both counts
When will people vote these clowns of clueless politicians out?
Problem is, all five major political parties largely sing from the same hymn sheet - the Uniparty. And minor parties have an unfair uphill struggle to gain enough votes for our first past the post system. We saw that in the last General Election. Persoanlly, I've written "None of the above" on the ballot the last few times, there being no suitable independent to put a cross against.
In the future you'll get cars that was built 3-4 years ago meanwhile they're waiting in big car parks rusting away and tyres getting damaged.

Good time to buy a used low mileage Japanese import they’re better spec’d and no corrosion there are good companies that handle the entire process.
Back to the 2000's, got to make sure you take into account ofetn missed things like instrument cluster change for MPH, other mods to pass the MOT, costs can add up.
@ Things are a lot slicker now with the import companies they can do some or all of the mods.
Yes CarWow did a video on how to import them from Japan and the simple mods needed. There are UK companies who carry out the modification where needed for a reasonable cost too.
Matt. CarWow UA-cam
australia used to import used jap cars , but the gov stoped them , one of the reasons there were small differances in models ,so you couldnt get a spare part for say a radiator , no other model was interchangable , and no spare parts for the models were imported into the country , the cheap import would run for maybe 2or 3 years then need a part , you just had to throw the car away a lot of them ended up from brisbane port were transported to adalalde, then ended up sold to the aboriginies where they ran them till they stopped on the roadside
They need to listen to the people🤬WE DON'T WANT BATTERY CARS🤮
Will still never purchase an EV , heat pump , solar panels 😁
Almost free power with solar to power your house, also free power to charge your EV, no more petrol or diesel bills, saving £1000s.
Only the daftest would refuse free money.

I'm sick of that Electric Viking idiot of You tube. He claims that 58% of sales in December are EV, what the pr^ck doesn't say is they are not selling petrol cars so they don't need to pay £15k a car as a tax. Suzuki for example have not sold a single petrol car since October. Electric Viking is a liar pushing cars that people don't want!
Yeah, he's an idiot. Die-hard Tesla fanboy, obviously.
I always tell people that watch people that push EV dont listen to them they are liar`s and are being payed to push EV onto people.

EVs are the Betamax video of cars we're waiting for VHS to come along !
My RAV4 just came up for its balloon payment and normally I would trade in for a new car at this point, but I don’t want all the new speed limiting tech and I don’t want an EV, so I paid the balloon payment and will happily stick with the RAV for the foreseeable!
Well if the manufacturer won't deliver then do not buy any car at all. We have to force a change of heart here and we can only do that at the showroom.
Next step, rationing petrol?
@@987frankie don't give them ideas!
It’s a total nonsense nobody wants the electric cars far too bloody complicated if anything goes wrong with them
IMO this is a government strategy. If EV sales appear ‘up’ to the wider populous, because other fuel types are restricted. It makes it look like EV’s are popular, which they hope will make more people go ahead and buy EV’s. Car people tend to know better of course, because most of us do not want EV’s. I actually take that back, if someone wants an EV, go ahead, but don’t take away our freedom of choice over what we can drive!!
Or;
What’s wrong with the UK?
Target policies for the last twenty years, all failing. From immigration and policing, to environmental and business issues, all failing due to consecutive government driven targets!
The wef tail is wagging the human dog...
I think it's especially scandalous that Motability customers who NEED a vehicle (not just fancy a bit of a change) are being forced to accept electric cars which don't meet their needs. The dealers are pushing EVs onto vulnerable people who can't just walk out of the showroom and try somewhere else. It's outrageous.

I'm talking about electric cars here
A few people I know ordered petrol cars and garages called them both telling them there was a problem with them coming from the factory but they would do them “ FANTASTIC ” deal and offer them the electric version at the same cost . Both refused and one even cancelled as he wasn’t waiting and magically a car appeared. Everyone knows garages have targets and get fined £18,000 a car if they don’t sell over allocated electric cars . It’s definitely unfair to customers and to garages as I’m sure the fine goes up yearly untill 2030 . The government are trying to dictate what we drive . In America it’s the same causing manufacturers like Ford and Chrysler etc major problems as the invested heavily in electric vehicles and no one wants them.
All car manufacturers need to tell the government we are not doing this anymore and if you dont change it back we will take our industry abroad, pushing something onto people that dont want it will break and fall apart in the end and there is companies shutting shop and leaving already
We should ALL be driving electric vehicles naturally. Some people just has to be told.

Not that many people buy new cars that don’t have a business or get a company car etc. However lots of “real” people buy 2-3 year old cars. This will get really crazy in 2 to 3 years when there are no 3 year old petrol/diesel cars to buy.

Government strangling the economy, growth, jobs. For nonsense net zero
Of course the claim is that it’s for safety and the environment but scrapping cars after just a few years is the opposite of environmentally friendly - all the material and energy to make the car is just thrown away
The effect on ordinary people in China is devastating. This is where Britain is heading.
Luckily we can vote our leaders out of office - if we stick together

Consumers dictate the market not the government
Those cars are sitting outside unprotected from the elements in mass compounds that are like open fields during the worst weather season of the year while many of their owners have protected garages waiting for them…
Car companies should give politics the vinger.
28% next year? NO CHANCE. Shame on weak Government; they are elected to represent the will of the people. They ain't doing that!
Laws with industry-wide damaging penalties enforced by government officials who won't suffer any negative consequences for their actions. Heck of a way to run any country.

You can't blame the car manufacturers. It's the ridiculous rules implemented by politicians. But I'm sorry I don't need a new car that badly. Just buy a nice used car. Better way to buy a car if you're funding it yourself.
The automotive industry better get together and start sueing or it will dissapear.
Well, I'm getting an EV on Monday next week. Only because my employer threatened disiplinary action if I continued to use my petrol Golf for business use, and they are providing the car. What on earth are you talking about?
@@michealridgway7607 Words too big for you go back to sleep everything is OK.
Bonkers who on earth would want an EV when you only opinion is to public charge it!!! I've got a drive and i don't want one 😆
So whar happens next year when 1000's of ICE cars were registered on Jan 1st ?
Exactly.
Wait. All commonwealth countries are dangerous to live in.
I just don't understand what the long game is tho ,
if I had to buy a 30k car to get to work and put all my dusty tools In are ruin it would no longer be worth going to work , same must apply to alot of people .
then what ?
It's the government's fault with there stupid mandates.

Had the market shifted to EVs then the residuals for them would be strong, instead 60-70% depreciation in 12 months is common…
If the manufacturer pushed back on the government b.s. and just did what was right for the customer then this b.s. might stop
