    I think I've heard that when the Giants got their new ball park, it was contingent that low income housing was part of the deal? As far as I know that still hasn't been done. Correct me if i'm wrong. Thanks Brodi! Go A's, Go Sharks, Go Dubs, Go Howard Terminal!!!

      Privately financed balllpark … at this point the Giants have already paid off the 20 year mortgage they took out

    People are silly. If it wasn’t for this project, they wouldn’t get no money at all. This project is going to be life-changing for Oakland. If Oakland doesn’t get it, somebody else will.

    Brodie, I was surprised to hear you say that there isn't a State required minimum of Affordable Housing for a project like Howard Terminal, when the other host knew that it is 15%. Otherwise I thoroughly enjoy your discussions on all things A's.

      What I said was: I’m surprised there’s not a threshold number for affordable housing that is simply the universally understood law & standard. Like: something that is assumed vs negotiated. Thanks for watching!

      That minimum requirement was negotiated for this project. Otherwise there is no minimum affordable housing requirement for new construction. Most cities and the state overall have a minimum affordable housing inclusion percentage that allows a developer to go beyond the base zoning and get protections against the cancellation of the project by NIMBYs. But that's a whole other thing.

    Brodie you can't tell me you don't know we're going to move to Vegas. You know people in The Organization. Sadly we are leaving because The Owners don't like Oakland and Are Greedy.

    How much is rent to live in an apartment near the ballpark to be ‘affordable housing’? $4000/mo?

    • @TohaBgood2
      @TohaBgood2 Рік тому +1

      Affordable housing income limits are set by the city and/or state. They have nothing to do with location. You need to make a certain percentage of the median income to qualify for different units. It's usually something between 30% and 80% of median income. But a developer can also include more units to loosen the income requirement. For example a developer can choose to include 25% of units as affordable vs 10% if the want to bring the income limit higher.
      This is all specified in the relevant legislation.

    My understanding is the A's are about a decade behind with their offer. The Bay is just too expensive and it's speeding up. The need for housing is ditto. Clearly, Oakland is prioritizing it;s money. The A's are not a priority. Sad, but real world.

    Oakland City Council expects the A's to build a ballpark without making back their investment. Not going to happen.

    Why build in oakland? Its a horrible city & community these days. Prices will skyrocket and nobody shows up as it is

      Lol, sure. Oakland is a "horrible city and community" and that's why the prices keep going up into the stratosphere. The typical "nobody goes there because it's too crowded" 😁😁😁😁
