See this is where i make fun of both because niether one have any actual evidence backing them up and both are silly. When it comes to the whole alpha thing the person who discovered how wolf was initially incorrect about the nature of wolves and their packs believing there were alphas and whatnot but later learning they were wrong and that the ones at top weren't "alphas" they were just simply the parents so guys trying mold an incorrect understanding of wolf packs into human society is recipe for disaster. When it comes to horoscopes astrology and all that nonsense all we need to look at is the actual scientific fields of astronomy, biology, psychology. What month you're born does not and will not effect your personality however your genetics and upbringing do. The location of of the planets also do not effect your personality not that we can always tell exactly where things are in space anyways as the farther you go out the longer it takes light from that star or whatever it is your looking at to reach us so we see is where they were however lighyears it took for that light to reach us. Also different cultures use different calendars so the whole zodiac sign thing kinda falls flat. There is so much knowledge out there i find it so sad we waste our time on such pointless ideologies that can be so easily disproven

Usually, I make fun of both. I don't necessarily care about women being into astrology because A( men are into that too) and B ( it's not a big deal lol). But it's only a big deal when people use the spread of fake news, and conspiracy theories with astrology. And the Alpha/Sigma male thing is just pure nonsense lol.

And these are the KIND numbers I didn't even break down OF models by country, I just did overall OF female creators by adult female population in the U.S. And I don't even know if this data breaks up trans women from cis women, and not to say that trans women aren't women, but none of the redpill guys ever have trans OF models on the show and the reason I was doing the math in the first place is because a clip I saw asking if women wanted a partnership or dictator for their partner and he said that was indicative of the whole female population and not just the population of OF models, and again 2% IS BEING KIND because their is a selection bias of OF models who are willing to go on a show like that, the reason those girls go on redpill pods to begin with is because it is marketing for their OF, a lot of those guys sub to the girls OF after they get degraded on the pod, so they might be being dishonest for the sole purpose of getting OF subs, and the idea that these people asked "100s" of girls is bs because a good portion are repeat guests. And even THEN 100s is such a small sample size when their are like 2million OF female creators.
If I was to be even more kind looking at specifically 18-34 year olds you get 6% of all women in the US. Everything else still applies on why it would be less than this number overall looking at the things I didn't extrapolate for.

exactly. there's another comedian, Daniel Sloss, who engages in dark and edgy humor. but his jokes are actually funny because they more often than not come from a personal place, and even when he's making jokes about other people, he's not making their pain the punchline. Matt, on the other hand, just seems to be grabbing shit from the air and throwing it at the walls to see which clump makes an audience giggle, and it's really weird. he doesn't have enough interesting life experience and lacks the qualities of a good storyteller to be as great of a comedian as he seems to think he is. he's just a bland, bland man with nothing of his own to joke about, so he pokes at other people's trauma to get a quick laugh.
Considering he paid to look like that and pretends that being attractive is a burden makes the whole thing worse. I am mostly pro plastic surgery but don’t like the lying about it.

Personally, I don't think people can only make jokes about their own struggles, as long as the joke isn't making fun of the victim. Gianmarco Soresi for example is a cis white/Jewish comedian that has made jokes about some pretty racy topics, like BLM, pedophilia or transphobia, but never in a way that punches down imo. I think that's partly because Soresi has a better understanding of those topics, but also because Rife is too focused on being edgy to actually make a funny point.

In a lot of countries there are so many people who think that people being offended is a funny enough punchline that their jokes don't have to be funny. Like, in the UK and America so many comedians attack trans people in their jokes, and like, any trans person will tell you there are a LOT of funny jokes you can make about trans people, but you can only make those if you start at a place of empathy and understanding instead of a place of harming and attacking

I just saw a tiktok mentioning that time when he talked about "male-female" relationships. He said men never see women as friends and are just waiting around to get something else out of it. He doesnt actually care about you even though he acts like he does. And the tiktoker talks about how this sounds like exactly how he treated his female audience. He saw that relationship as transactional and waited untill they got him the fame he needed. And now he is aiming to be "one of the boys" by spitting in his main audience's faces.

The irony is that he reached the public thanks to two women, Kate Beckinsale and Zandaya, and he owes his fame to women, but he is so insecure that he chases that male validation and thinks he will get it through a DV "joke".
It wasn’t even this joke that did it for me. It’s every time I hear him on a podcast. He admitted one time that he messed up with his ex but “it was her reaction to it that ruined everything” is pretty much what he said. He’s a narcissist. If you don’t agree with him, find him funny or just accept his behavior you’re sensitive and special needs. But the people he surrounds himself with are like that too. If you listen to Trevor Wallace’s podcast he views women just the same and has the same frat boy toilet humor. I’m not overly offended but I also just don’t find it funny or have to listen so if that makes them think I’m overly sensitive then fine.

I think the worst part about the domestic violence joke, is that it’s a great setup for a subversive joke about sexism.
When guy initially says “they should put her in the kitchen.” It’s clear he’s saying it out of a misguided sympathy. Its so unassumingly sexist. That’s a great setup. Theres a genuinely funny joke about how men, even in attempt to help women, still manage to be sexist.
Interrogate the logic on why the first assumption is getting her back in the kitchen instead of a day off, or idk, a freaking ice pack.
Basically make the joke about people seeing something horrible and not being sure how to help. Instead of being “haha, women not cook good.”

This one podcast he was on really started to confirm my weariness of his content and the more I looked into it the more horribly uncomfortable I got. My sister mentioned the helmet thing to me when I asked her opinion and I was like “HE DID WHAT?” And she literally brushed it off in front of me, her autistic sibling knowing I genuinely HATE those kind of jokes that make minorities the butt of the joke. Matt's the kinda guy who walks into a GNC and all the cashiers draw straws to see who gets to help his insufferable ass.
The reason if you went through the trauma you can joke about is because you can heal from it by taking its power away by joking about it, minimizing the impact every time you tell it. If it didn't happen to you, the joke is just cruel and sadistic.
I joke about covid, death and sometimes even unaliving myself because i work at a nursing home that was ravaged by covid and saw too many die from it. the virus lead to many attempts at end game. Being able to call the virus weak and pathetic helped me heal because it takes away the teeth so to speak from it. But if you weren't there to it, it is cruel to joke about such things.
In the medical field, we use dark humor to deal with the poo we deal with on a daily basis because it's either morbid joke or a rope.
as a christian i agree that we have no room judging ppl for believing in other things, wether that’s witchcraft or astrology. first of all who cares? second none of us knows what’s real and not. just leave people be 😭
That was exactly my problem, I couldn’t help but think about that guy on Family Feud (I think, it was one of those shows) that joked about hating his wife and then ended up killing her. Issues like this always start as “just jokes”. Joke about your own experience to cope but to joke about other people’s experiences is low.

The "you can't joke about anything these days" thing is always so weird to me cause i like a lot of comedians who joke about sensitive topics. The thing is, they do it respectfully and make the jokes actually funny, even to the people who the joke is about. People who use that narrative are just bad at making jokes

5:04 i feel like it’s not being talked about enough that, even though he says “if i hear another person blame . . . i’ll kill them”, it’s pretty clear what he actually means is “if i hear another woman blame . . . i’ll kill them” which is beyond disturbing and disgusting.
do i think he’d actually kill women? probably not. still doesn’t change the fact that he clearly views violence against women as something casual to be laughed at.
It’s like when people think shade or roasting is just being mean to anyone and not a strategic form of banter with people that you either trust or vibe with. Using other people’s experiences with deeply traumatic situations just to be edgy is not humor, its just a form of evading accountability for your disrespect. And that apology bit with the helmet just further proves he has no care, understanding or bandwidth for people with different experiences to him. Jaded as hell.
Edit: I came up with this saying just now: Our humor is not above other people’s right to be viewed with dignity.
That last point, absolutely brilliant. And pulling out a joke that works to weaken the bite of trauma from personal experience does not give others (such as Rife) license to dogpile on that trauma in the way which perpetuates a harmful or at times fatal status quo, undermining a survivor's dignity.

one of my favorite comedians is daniel sloss who is known to have a “dark sense of humour” but the way he does it is amazing. in his special x he tells the story of how one of his closest friends (who he’s no longer friends with) raped his female friend, and was so unbelievably respectful and amazing yet still so so funny. i hate when people act like dark humour is just saying whatever offensive thing you want with no consequence and not a really hard to pull off artwork that requires a lot of comedic talent.
FINALLY. I’ve always felt “off” about his comedy. Just.. some of his jokes hit weirdly. This last joke finally put the nail in the coffin. Everything finally makes sense.

Matt Rife has had a ton of plastic surgery to his face in recent years. And there's nothing wrong with that. I just can't help but think that he did that so people would actually pay attention to him. Before he made himself into an attractive looking person, nobody knew who he was.. that just goes to show that his jokes aren't strong enough on their own. It's not just that some of them are tasteless, they're generic and boring. He's only funny because women think he's hot, and men find him funny because women like him. If he was an ugly man nobody would care, and his career before plastic is proof of that.
I'm sorry, as a woman I'm supposed to find the guy attractive? I mean, if I had no eyes to see the pillow face from the filler, and the sluglike mouth, and the whole face of his that feels like there's just too much going on... yeah, maybe. But alas, unfortunately (in this case) I do have eyes. And besides that, I can hear as well. Matt Rife always rubbed me the wrong way, so I guess this is why I was never a fan of his, but was lowkey disgusted by him. 🤷♀️

IMO there are tons of talented comedians who joke about sensitive topics and make it hilarious. but edgy jokes where victims = punchline are sooo overdone, it’s low hanging fruit in comedy. matt rife is like a 12 yr old doing the most in an edgelord phase. even though middle schoolers would never write such lame jokes they’d be way more creative lol

There is a joke for every topic and every idea imaginable, the real power in a comedian is not just being funny, it's being truthful about it. Rife is neither. Like seriously, I don't think he could make a clown laugh with his comedy. The story isn't even convincing, no human would think "this looks bad for the company" to a waitress with a black eye? Dude is putting his cart before the horse, setting it on fire, and rolling it into an orphanage-combined-nitroglycerin-warehouse to watch it explode and the hoss hasn't even left the station yet. Only for a disembodied hand to slap him in the face from the aftermath.

It’s annoying that people think the problem is people hate edgy jokes, but it’s that they’re not jokes. They’re weird unfunny rants that shows he actually believes this stuff. It’s like Dave Chapelle talking about trans people, and he’s actually a good comedian, but his trans jokes are unfunny and more rants because he genuinely hates trans women.

Yeah I turned it on a few days ago because I thought Matt Rife was a chill comedian, then I watched up until the astrology bit, because the vibes were just not good. It doesn't seem like any comedians actually are having fun on stage these days, because they're so worried they'll get canceled or something, but then they'll just be spewing venom throughout half of the show.
Yeah it was really odd and his anger stuck out to me, it had frustrated and angry undertones but in a bad way
