- Glick Philanthropies Broadway at The Cabaret Series presents LaChanze’s 2017 performance at The Cabaret.
In 1991, LaChanze was nominated for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her performance in Once On This Island. LaChanze won the 2006 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her portrayal of Celie in The Color Purple.
I saw the original cast of 'Once on this Island", in 1990-91. When the show began, I thought it was going to stink. Then LaChanze, can on stage and sang this song, and I was blown away. I had chills!!! She made me love this show forever!!! Thank you, for such a wonderful theatre experience!!!
Same! I saw that 1990 production and as long as I live I will never forget how magnificent she was in that role.
i wonder if she's seen the revival, i wanna see her and Hailey do an interview together
The bass player tho
LaChanze is pure joy! I absolutely love her!!
I can’t wait to see her on a broadway stage soon when I go to see Donna summer the musical
She still has it.... the key is lower, but yet powerful
No it isn't! Original key baby!
@@LaChanzeSG thank you for that correction.... love you
@@LaChanzeSG LOL i'm tickled. you're the best thing since sliced bread, ma'am.
@@meccawalker4773 It is a lower key, the original was B and this is in A. But there's a video of her doing it above the original key in C, so no doubt she still has it!
Can someone clarify something? I thought Jerry Dixon was the original Daniel on Once on This Island. I don't see Bill Meyers credited anywhere. I tried looking him up on ibdb but couldn't find anything.
Possibly workshop?
she makes it look so easy!!
THE TRUE AND ONLY ICON

Sarah Grant A
