Respect for making sure the entire band got recognition too. He is also very articulate and we'll spoken, which is certainly hard when you are speeding your brains out. Chappelle really got this one, especially as far as his looks goes.
Brilliant musician lost in the 80s. Its so sad he is remembered by drug induced antics. Rick had a penchant for timing in music that was very underrated. There were many syncopated rhythms that Rick actually popularized in pop music after the P funk time period. James Brown on the one was expanded with Rick to the extreme if your familiar with his music. I cant directly credit Rick with funk bass line progressions but he was a major player in his time period and expounded on the intertwined vocals and bass synco pop. This man was a genius in the music world and should be remembered for that and not his personal demons. He exemplified the black singer songwriter experimentalist of his day and later fell into overproduced underwritten pop culture trap. Prince was very much a understudy of Ricks music intertwined with Donnie Hathaway style phrasing. Rick wasn't some joke that is only spoken of in jest of drugs or a comedic skit, he was a brilliant musician fighting substance abuse habits that got the better of him.

rick james actually seems pretty fuckin awesome lol, seems a lot more down to earth than Chappelle's impersonation haha although i know the story about him is true
What story
john jaxon they have the full unedited interview for Chappelle's show as well and they did sound bite him a bit because he didn't sound as cracked out as they edited it but it's certainly funnier than the actual interview
Rick James a legend...good music ..just did his thing in his day...and he the first brother to pull off weave ..lol..but RIP to the legend
David Williams He was sexy as hell lol
