I wonder just how many people know that the trickling water shown here is the source of the mighty Mississippi River! Itasca State Park is one of the best state parks here in Minnesota, and I highly recommend anybody who comes this way to check it out during the summer months when the headwaters are filled with people crossing the water and splashing around. Great nature trails, too!

You should go down the Brule River in Northern Wisconsin for brackish water and beautiful fall leaves floating down river. There's much more than Lake Itasca.
