- James and Tom discuss what happens when everybody's favourite secret agent (you know, that English secret agent from England) takes on the Man with the Golden Gun. Very realistic wax models, lovely shirts, THAT car jump, and karate are all featured here. ACTIVATE THE BONDBOARD!

Loving Threads Watch! 😂
I love this movie. Its grown on me immensely over time. It's fun and doesn't take itself too seriously. It has all the tropes I want in a Bond movie. I also love Diamonds Are Forever and Goldfinger.
Despite our relatively low scores for this one and DAF, I’ve highly enjoyed all of the movies so far. Some just haven’t been cutting the mustard when it comes down to the BondBoard.
Christopher Lee - super human. Also once stayed at the Petty France Hotel.
Did he sleep in a coffin all day? Only came out at night time? Not fond of the garlic bread? I could go on.
Sometimes actors will have skills that they try to shoehorn into the script to show off. In this case, Moore's legendarily wooden acting, and the opening scene.
Some Mothers Do 'Av A Licence To Kill?
Hi Tom and james, great review - random fact: one of Hips niece is the landlady from kung Fu Hussle
Hey Russ. Great to see you on Saturday and cheers for watching/subscribing. This is exactly the kind of feedback we’re after. 👍
Well done, Missed the dooshes, it was a highlight
Most disappointing of Roger’s Bonds, one of my least favourite films, always found it a bit dull, I also don’t think it has aged well.
Came out in 74 a year after Live & Let Die, felt rushed, and perhaps it shows.
Another boat chase for Roger, moore to come.
Slide whistle on the car loop was awful.
Been to James Bond island which was a real treat although it was packed with tourists.
Does Dr No need a remark???
I think we’ll have to bring the dooshes back. I will look forward to ‘moore’ boat chases. Dr No probably deserves a remark but I stand by the BondBoard being used to determine the Bondiest rather than the best.
Stand-off + screw propeller + "screw off" as a "get lost". It works fine.
Still rubbish.
Great episode again. Here's hoping the copyright ninjas leave you alone this time!
As for the movie, this one sits near the bottom for me. Not the worst Bond film but definitely in the "I don't really like this movie" tier. It's just so mean and tacky. Thankfully they finally got the Moore era tone right in the next one.
In regards to the slide whistle travesty, I recall hearing that the reason it was put in there was because the stunt is so impressive and seemingly impossible that they feared people wouldn't believe it was a real stunt (i.e. some special effects or film manipulation occurred) and it would come off as corny, rather than impressive, so they decided to play it comically, in order to play it safe. If true, that was a bad mistake. I am not normally a fan of changing old movies (looking at you, George Lucas) but I think I would happily support them changing this one to remove the slide whistle.
Interesting explanation of the slide whistle there. From what I’ve been learning from making this show, sounds about right. 😆
One of the least exciting Bond films with the worst Bond song and an annoying Bond girl, Goodnight used to make me laugh but now I find myself rolling my eyes at her...
Positives for me are the 70s scenery, particularly Scaramanga's place, very stylish. The Hornet is a nice classic car aesthetically and yes, it's involved in the best stunt. The absolute best thing about this film for me is the exquisite Christopher Lee, so handsome with that golden voice of his. (see what I did there? 😉) And yes, he did say Lord Summerisle was the best part he'd ever played but he also said the most important film he'd ever been in was Jinnah, a biographical film about the founder of Pakistan. He played the title role, and yes, he's great in it, even looks like the real Jinnah. Just a bit of trivia to add. 😊
Thanks for getting in touch again ONP. It sure is a different experience reviewing the one’s we’re less keen on. Like you say though, lots to love when it comes to Christopher Lee. Wicker Man was one of those movies that I watched again and again on DVD. Will have to check out Jinnah.
Très *Bond*, shurely?
I mean, that open goal’s been there for months now. We’s just ain’t too smart is all.
