Ron is a former coworker of mine. He recently retired for the second time from Collins/UTAS/Sunstrand. He flies his airplanes a lot, including the Buhl Pup. Smart guy and quite a character!
"Not the sharpest knife in the drawer," this guy must have been a freaking scalpel in his heyday. That's a gorgeous resto.
I thought the same thing!
Dad flew NC-338Y & NC-318Y out of Tacoma, WA in 1931 & 1932. Loved the plane.
My family owns and flies the other Buhl in California that Ron referred to. It has been in my family over 60 years, having been flown by 9 family members over three generations. I fly her about once a week, although we have the Continental A-65 engine with brakes and a steerable tail wheel.
That's great! Where can we see photos of it? Thanks!
@@chrispankey2073 Google, bing, any search engine has pictures. Ours is the honey white and red one. Cheers
Performs like a Piper J3 Cub but with a single seat and the power of the J2's A40.
Haha, cruises slower than his age.
Both look great for their age 😂
